vegan burghers - Edit

Ok generous helpings of chips , friendly service . Be very precise in explaining what vegan means .The Vegan revolution at the time dated has not really happened in Madiera..when it does I would like to see some young business menand women make a lot of money in the catering tradewith ethically based vegan food

Pros: ok

Cons: confusion over vegan mayonaise , stock levels of s, the business is not meat free yet , Madiera needs a Vegan festival

Quite okay - Edit

They had a lot of vegetarian options, one vegan burger, which I had (with tempeh). It didn't taste much, but the sweet potato fries and the veggiemayo were ok! Staff was a bit "not so interested", but well, anyone can have a bad day.

Pros: Several veggieoptions

Cons: Not so tasty burger

Many Veg Options But Not The Best Burgers Ever! - Edit

Looks like they re-introduced the veggie options! :-) I had the tofu and portobello mushroom one (without eggs) and it was just OK! Definitely, I have eaten better burgers in my life. The burger (with a little tiny piece of tofu) comes with French fries. I paid 7.20€ as I had just sparkling water with it. Staff super nice!!!

Pros: 5 veggie options , Super nice staff , Good price

Cons: Not super tasty

Nice burger and some nice choices! - Edit

Nice place with about five vegans burgers (two are veggie but you can ask to take some bits out)
I am not sure what happened this week - like the last two reviewers of this place have ended up disappointed with no vegan burgers - I too also ended up with only one option and that was half 2 in the afternoon. Either they ran out of the seitan, tempah and the others or they weren't stocking them that week. I don't want to dismiss this place after good reviews from the first 10 people although it is disappointing. The Portobello with tofu burger (without egg) and sweet potato fries (without mayo) were nicer than I thought as it wasn't my first choice. Nice overall and hopefully they will have the choices available for the next visitors. 👍

Let down - Edit

Went reading previous happy cow review and really looking forward to a vegan burger. Arrived and was told they'd stopped with all veggie burgers. Was fuming. Had some sweet potato fries and weren't great.

Pros: There was a dog in the outdoor seating area

Cons: NO VEGAN OR VEGGIE ON THAT DAY

Be careful! - Edit

Arrived at 7.30pm to be told the vegan/veggie menu was no longer available. The vegan menu looks amazing, so many options (hence the 3 stars) it's just a shame we didn't get chance to try and had to move on. Decor is lovely and clean and simple.

Pros: Varied vegan menu , lots of choice , very instagram

Cons: veggie menu wasn't available when we arrived

excellent burgers - Edit

Excellent burgers, both the regular as well as the vegan burgers were delicious. You can order sweet potatoes fries or a salad as a side dish. Happy vegan parents and happy meat eating children !

Good for veggies- not so for vegans. - Edit

As a vegetarian, this place would deserve a 4 star, it had 5 burgers suitable for a vegetarian and all the dessert was veggie. As a vegan, this place was not so great. My partner ordered one of the 3 burgers suitable for a vegan and it came with mayonnaise. There was also no dessert that was suitable for a vegan.

Good hamburger - Edit

They did not have the beans and tofu hamburger available so I had the tempeh hamburger with sweet potatoes.
The potatoes were well cooked and they tasted good to me.
The hamburger was also good but more expensive than the others.
All cost between 6 and 8 euros.
The service was fast and the staff nice.
I would repeat

Pros: 5 different veggie options to choose, Well located

Cons: Didn't have one of the offered hamburgers

vegan friendly burger bar - Edit

5 veggie options - all can be made vegan (according to our server)

We had seitan and tempeh burgers - both were great with lots of interesting toppings. Sweet potato fries weren't amazing (could have done with another few mins in the fryer) but were decent.

Friendly staff too - would definitely recommend for anyone a bit over eating fries and sides in Madeira - just remember to say 'no mayo' with everything or it'll come with a blob on the side!

only place we visited twice - Edit

Bring cash. :) The smoked tofu burger is really good. The sietan burger had great toppings, but the burger itself wasn't great. The fries are great (sweet potato and regular), though remember to ask for no mayo. This is only the place we visited twice to eat during our week stay. The food was well priced and there were multiple options. The sangria was also very nice.

Average burger in a dry bun - Edit

We had two seitan burgers - one with sweet potato chips and one with French fries.
Apart from the seitan burger, the bun was filled with a slice of tomato and one of pineapple.
Although I love fusion cuisine, this combo didn't work for me. Plus the bun was stone cold (like out-of-the-fridge-cold), crumbly and dry. The sweet potato chips were nice, but ask 'without the mayo' if you're a vegan.

It's a good value for money- with a jug of sangria, we paid just under €25.

Overall, it wasn't a bad meal but it wasn't great either. That said, in vegan-phobic Madeira this place can be a saviour.
I'm

Pros: four choices of vegan burgers, nice and friendly staff, a 1l jug of sangria for less than €10

Cons: tasteless, cold and dry buns, located on the side of a noisy road, uncomfortable exterior seating
