Irresponsibly delicious! - Edit
The pieces are small and pricey, but worth it. We had a chocolate, a strawberry and a piece of mont blant cake. I akways buy chocolate cake, because I love chocolate and I often become disappointed - not here: the chocolate cake has taste layers and is really tasty, as well as the two other pieces we ate. Really good!

Delicious strawberry sponge cake - Edit
It was exactly like a typical Japanese sponge cake! The sponge itself was not as fluffy as expected but still delicious! The soy based cream was also tasty! Worth a try!

Gluten free, VEGAN cakes!! - Edit
The owner of this cake shop had a shop in Kamakura many years ago. We used to drive from Tokyo to Kamakura just to visit his shop! It was that good. We were sad when the shop closed down, but SO delighted to realize recently that it was reestablished in Hiroo, Tokyo.
Read moreI love that the cakes are gluten free and do not contain white sugar. All the cakes taste just like their non-vegan equivalents. It’s uncanny how the owner creates such guilt-free and cruelty-free cake!

Kanto sweets lovers are likely familiar with the work of patissier Hal Okada, even if they don’t immediately recognize the name. He’s the creator of the sublimely delicious, 100% vegan sweets on offer at Wired Bonbon, Iyemon Salon, Trueberry, and Futaba Fruits Parlor. Last year, he opened his own little shop in Hiroo. We went to check it out.
The shop is tiny, and located on a side street off the main road. When we walked in, we were pleasantly surprised to see Okada-san himself, putting the finishing touches on a cake in the open kitchen.
You can pre-order whole cakes, or just take home a few slices. We went with slices of the mont blanc cake. At 780 yen per slice, it’s not exactly cheap, but not unreasonable either, especially for something of such quality. This cake was FANTASTIC, with yummy chunks of chestnut and a slightly coconutty crust. YUM!
If you’re looking for a vegan cake to make your special event even more special, you can’t do wrong with the incredible creations available at Hal Okada Vegan Sweets Lab.

Nice cake from a well-known vegan patissier - Edit
Mr. Okada, who runs this shop, is in charge of the vegan sweets for many other stores around Tokyo, including Futaba Fruits Parlor and Wired Bonbon Lumine Shinjuku. I've been a fan of his cakes since a previous shop he was running in Kamakura.
Read moreI visited on a late Saturday afternoon and they had four kinds of cake slices for sale: strawberry vegan sponge cake, cheesecake, premium montblanc, and royal chocolate cake. Since payment will be cashless from June, the staff told me that you can pay with Suica if you don't have a credit card.
They're starting online ordering with home delivery for whole cakes (along with the online ordering for in-store pickup that they already had).
I chose slices of the first two options and they were nice, as is everything he makes.
They have more choices for the order whole cakes including the strawberry chocolate sponge cake and strawberry smile sponge cake, which looks great for kids.
They focus on great quality and I thought the price was very fair for what you get. I believe the slices started at 660 yen each.
The staff is very friendly and the owner was clearly very passionate about vegan desserts.

All vegan cake shop - Edit
The cake is delicious, a bit expensive though. I had the mon blanc and strawberry shortcake and was not at all disappointed. There is no seating area and you need to make a reservation if you want to buy a full cake. The location is a bit hard to find cause its in an alley.

Excellent Vegan Shortcakes! - Edit
Newly open Vegan cake ore two minutes from 広尾(Hiroō) station!!!
Read moreThste Patisserie here is a relatively well known vegan Patisserie Okada Haruo, who has been making vegan/gluten free cakes for many years.
The cake store is located in the small alleyway across the Starbucks(it is a bit difficult to find) and is fully cashless & takeaway only.
You are reccomended to pre-order online, but everyday they have a small portion of cakes you can buy on the day.
Currently they only offer strawberry shortcake (vegan and gluten free!!), But they told me they are adding chocolate cake and montblanc next month!
The strawberry shortcake I had was extremely moist and light, yet had a depth in the creamy flavour and I absolutely loved it!!
Really reccomend this cake to all vegan and gluten free friends, they are also very willing to cater to those with different allergies 🙂!
Pros: Vegan, Gluten free, Nuts free options
Cons: Only take-away , Little variety (Will increase in the next months)
