Superior H-Mart in San Diego

H-mart has many items for vegans, such as rice, noodles (fresh and dry), kimchi, tofu, plant milk (including fresh soy milk near the tofu section), rice cakes, frozen goods (sweet and savory), ramen, vegan proteins, some limited items in the deli, etc. The produce section is wonderful and often cheaper than other stores. You can also find fruits and some veggies that are either hard to find or more expensive at American grocers. I personally love the frozen section and have found vegan dumplings, buns, scallion pancakes, glutinous rice balls, taiyaki, japchae, vegan meat, etc. Some options are labeled, while many are accidental.

Even though H-Mart is a chain, it is still my favorite grocer. If you have never been before, it may feel intimidating at first, but it is an excellent stop. In my humble opinion, this is the superior location in San Diego (however, parking is more difficult).

Note: there is a decent-sized fish/sea animal meat counter in the back of the store.
