Okay but put feta on

The first impression when walking in was really not overwhelming. A weird smell (makes you wonder), no customers and the whole bar was empty. I had first thought they were closed.
I chose a veggie wrap with falafel, which gave the choice of tzatziki or lemon tahini and I specified that I wanted the latter to make it vegan. It was a big fried pouch, which did look quite alright. Don’t know what they fry in, but no buttery feel/taste.
We did take out, so when taking the first bite back at our place, I discovered feta cheese in there. Which hadn’t even been on the ingredient list in the first place. Not great, also given the instructions, but overall tasty, if you don’t mind the oiliness (to clarify: I don’t want to waste food if that happens and will usually still eat it unless there’s meat/fish).
It did sit well with me (it’s one day after now) so no concerns there.
Given the lack of options around here, I guess you can make it work if you’re - extra - clear what vegan means.
For takeout.

Pros: The falafel were a good consistency , Seemingly several options

Cons: Weird smell in the location, Put cheese although I said vegan and not on menu

Falafel wrap & fries

It was an okay experience. Good food for a road trip. My only issue is that they didn’t seem to understand what vegan was.. the guy behind the counter asked me if I wanted tzatziki and gestured to it I said no and I asked for the lemon tahini which is supposed to be vegan, and then he tried to say that the tzatziki was the tahini, so I said okay.. and guess what I got? tzatziki, which has dairy. I think they were just short staffed and overwhelmed by the lunch rush but.. I know the difference between tzatziki and tahini and there’s no reason to try to lie about it 🫤 good thing I don’t have a dairy allergy?
Overall, besides the dairy that I assume was on it , the food was good.

Ok for St. Joe

This is one of the only places in St. Joe with strong vegan options. I ended up coming twice and getting a veggie plate/combo plate each time.

Falafel was hot, fresh, and crisp. 3 pieces came with the platter. Rice was flavorful, as were the baba ghanoush, and dolma. There was an interesting veggie mix that was vegan-friendly as well. It was just ok. I enjoyed their hummus with oil and seasoning added. Pita bread was fresh and soft. Got some fresh seasoned fries too and they were good.

My friends complained about how greasy everything was. It was indeed greasy, but I happen to like that, so no points off from me for that.

I had to sell my soul for some tahini. Apparently, these people only use it as a mixture in something else (even though the menu clearly says tahini is a sauce option), and I had to twist arms to get a side of it. The man (manager? owner?) looked at me like I had 2 heads when I said that I put tahini on my falafel and pita. He said, "you don't eat tahini straight." Excuse you, sir. I, and many others, do! When I came back that second time, a different man flat out said that they have no tahini. After reminding another worker, who was there when I was given tahini days prior, she informed this person that it was in the back. smh Tahini hoarders.

Anyway, aside from tahini-gate, the place is ok but lacking. They are limited in the offerings of beverages; only sodas from the soda fountain were available, no water. The menu is limited, but what they have just so happens to work for veg*ns.

The place itself is pretty bare bones and minimal. No aesthetic appeal aside from a TV showing pretty vacation videos of Greece.

As for Mediterranean food, it may not be the best, but it may be the best you're gonna get in St. Joe.

As the new owner, I do apologize for the issues with the tahini, I am making an effort to teach my staff about all of our ingredients and their many uses; I will look into the individuals that you spoke with.

Indeed, the menu does currently include "lemon tahini" as a sauce, and upon request my staff should prepare it for you (as we no longer prepare the sauce in advance, due to lack of demand).

As for the water, it is the small tab on the same nozzle as the lemonade.

Keep an eye out, as our menu will be expanding with some new vegan options and many updates are coming to the dining area.

You need to try this place!

The atmosphere is close to a Mediterranean type, plenty of room at each table to stretch out, authentic smell of Mediterranean spices, and excellent food. The prices aren't too high either. I try to eat here every time I'm in town which is usually once a week. The staff are very polite, and the customer service is excellent too.
