Yummy pasty

Went to the bakery section of the shop (the takeaway part) Nice chips and 2 vegan main options (plant burger and pasty). Pasty was really good Mediterranean veg mix! Also a beautiful location right on the beach!

Relief from plant-based burgers

I had the quinoa superfood salad, which was delicious: plenty of quinoa, balanced with broccoli, courgette and "summer peas" (I think they mean "peas"), and properly dressed.

This raises a sore point. If you want to list a restuarant such as Gylly Beach, which serves meat but does good veg options, you have to jump through hoops. If you want to review it, you can't give it five stars. Yet I'd much rather eat an intelligently devised dish like their quinoa salad than anything on the menu of certain vegan restaurants (such as one in the same town), which serve nothing but tired copies of carnivore fast food. There was a time when the only thing vegans were offered was brown rice and lentils; when the default menu option is plant-based burger, I don't see that as progress. So, well done Gylly Beach for making me something I enjoyed.

One criticism: the beer. Only keg beer was available, so i had to make do with a pint of Neck Oil, which was OK, but how I longed for the St Austell Brewery's gorgeously hopped (and well-named) Proper Job. Oh, alright, then: two criticisms. £11.50 for two pints? Is this Cornwall or Mayfair?

Pros: Delicious salad, Great beach views

Cons: No draught beer, Eye-poppingly expensive beer

Great location. Limited Options

Lovely setting by a sandy beach with outside tables. We were just there for coffe and cake. Oat milk only as option and one vegan cake a muffin, raspberry and chocolate which was lovely. On the expensive side and coffees small.
Menu showed some vegan options.
Staff good.
Visited takeaway part the next-day and found two vegan ice cream flavours raspberry ripple and chocolate. Good value and the ripple was lovely

1*

There weren't many vegan options for lunch. There was a soup, a salad or a chickpea wrap. The chickpea wrap was disappointing: plain chickpeas in a wrap, served with some cold aloo saag.

Burger on the beach

Difficult to beat this café for it gorgeous view of Gylly beach. A couple of vegan options one of which was the burger which we enjoyed. It came with your normal range of fries and salad nothing out of the ordinary. Recommend a reservation even mid week in order to get a good table.

Pros: Great sea view

Cons: Not too many vegan options.

Breakfast with a view

I had a delicious vegan breakfast at Gylly’s beach cafe - grilled, massive portobello mushrooms instead of egg, homemade vegetable and bean sausages, baked beans and mini hash browns. All with a spectacular view of the beach. Hearty vegan breakfast.
