Love the animals, food is ok

Didn’t try any of the cakes this time but they were looking good!

Pros: Mostly vegan options , Vegan cakes, Freely roaming adorable animals

Cons: Rather expensive for mostly convenience food, Cow milk as default for coffee

Great day out with rescued animals

Great place that not only serves vegetarian and vegan food but also is a sanctuary for animals who get to live out the rest of their lives in peace and comfort, many have been saved from slaughter or rescued from poor conditions -you can read about them at the sanctuary. The animals have freedom to roam around on the grounds so you may get a goat or sheep wander up to you. It is paradise for the lucky animals that make it there. Great day out for kids and a nice walk around the Easter Lakes right next to Gut Aidelbichl. Please support this great place.

Big show with little substance.. but lots of potential

Ever since I watched the documentaries about “Gut Aiderbichl” and fell in love with their mission and beliefs, I was looking forward to one day experience this paradise myself and meet not only the beautiful animals with all their story’s but also the people standing behind this concept..
The sanctuary is surrounded by a most beautiful bavarian landscape. With the mountains in the distance and the nearest lakeside just 500 meters away I was off to a good start feeling like I finally found a place of great peacefulness between us living beings.. the guide showed us the animals and told us their heartbreaking stories..
About halfway through the picture started cracking when I asked about cat and dog food which was answered very evasive. After various excuses the guide confirmed it was one of the cheapest cans originating out of the livestock industries.. by the time the tour ended the guide had already made it very clear that their were desperate for support.. I totally understood their point, but then the guide actively tried to push every present person into donating money on a monthly basis over a long period of time.. excuses were heavily judged and the mood quickly became a price tag... anyway I got out without getting a smile but at least some money left in my pocket and headed to the restaurant I hoped could safe the sinking ship.. it didn’t.. I was confused by the labelling as it wasn’t clear if some dishes were vegan or not. When it became clear that not even half of the food was vegan I asked the cook where the dairy products came from. Again very evasive answering but in the end he confessed about it not being the most cheapest but also not being the organic type (not that it makes a difference anyway).. I left the scene with a bitter taste.
How can you support the industry you so heroically try saving the victims out of? „Giving back” while still taking behind the back? In my little mathematic understanding if you save one but still doom another, in the end the equation is still zero and the hero is still a hypocrite.. Though I think „gut Aiderbichl” is a huge step in the right direction, with a lot of wasted potential, in retrospect the whole visit felt like a well planned vegan honeypot trap for naive animal lovers..

Bigotry!

While having a sign next to the saved cows telling you about milk they sell mainly vegetarian stuff: lots of cheese, non vegan cakes, etc. This makes me so angry I cannot enjoy a stay there. I wrote to the direction of the sanctuaries; they wrote a long answer. Short version: we don‘t care/more money. Makes me wanna throw up.

Tasty canteen style food

We visited the place to support the awesome work the sanctuary is doing. The food reheated but surprisingly very tasty. We had the pasta (8,95€) and the Schnitzel (9,95€) and some mixed salads (small 6,95€) from the buffet as well. Nevertheless, we as vegans were disappointed that they are still selling so many non-vegan dishes... it seems inconsistent. However, we noticed the reactions of the visiting people and could understand how hard it must be for the owner not to sell meat... but would decide differently.

Pros: Tasty, Outdoor Seating, Cheaper than we expected for a touristy place

Cons: Non-vegan dishes, Self-service, TVs in the room

Nice sanctuary, room for improvement for the gastronomy

First I like the Aiderbichl concept of telling the story of individual animal and teaching people about mass farming of animals.
I was eating a vegan cake that was very good, but it was the last peace of vegan cake and the rest of the selection was not vegan unfortunately. The main food was half vegan and half vegetarian.
No plant milk option for the coffee though.
What I did not like was that there are TV monitors in every corner of the café screaming at you. This does not feel comfy at all and makes you wanna leave as soon as you have finished.

great place, great work but products that make animals suffer

I recommend to visit this place to get to know the great work of "Gut Aiderbichl".
In my opinion, the only food that fits into this place where it is so much about helping out animals is vegan. It is also a great opportunity to draw attention to the possibilitys vegan food is offering in a place where people are already touched and closer to the madness that is going on.
I found it really strange that there was none vegan of the many cakes and only cow milk for coffee drinks offered.
Moreover the ice cream they are selling ist not even organic but comes from major food companies that for sure don´t care about the welfare of the cows.
For me this is in opposition to the great work they are doing.
The soup I had was fine though.

Pros: tasty, great place

Cons: use dairy, use conventional products, no vegan options for coffee and cake
