Disappointed

I was really excited to try this place, being an all vegan restaurant and I absolutely love Ethiopian food, so I chose it for my treat on my last night in the city. I checked opening hours on Happy Cow, on their Facebook page, if there were any posts that it would be closed today, but everything suggested it was open. So I walk all the way there and guess what, it’s closed! Really frustrating, please vegan businesses we want to support you but we need to know when you are open!

Gursha vegan Ethiopian

We were thrilled to find GURSHA. A bar with good food. Ethiopian food is very deliciously seasoned. Near city hall, right along the light rail line. Ethiopian music (not too loud) and burning incense helped create an exotic experience. Be prepared to tear the injeera and scoop up the stews.

Pros: Every item is vegan but one, Authentic tastes , Inexpensive ($29 dinner for 2 w/ 2 beers)

Good-Priced Delicious Food

The injera is super filling so be careful if you order one for just yourself (probably best to share with someone else).

All the foods that come on the injera are delicious.

Food came out super quickly.

No complaints.

Pros: Very cheap, Big portions (can share)

Cons: Get ready to have messy hands

Yerushalayim's 1st Vegan Ethiopian Restaurant!

Jerusalem's first Vegan Ethiopian restaurant does not disappoint!

The place is small and homey. There is no menu. Basically you sit down and order the Injera which comes with all sorts of Authentic Ethiopian Dips. It came with 3 dips (a chickpea, lentil, and Split Pea), a salad, a traditional cooked Potato and carrot stew (although I think Cabbage would have added to it) and a hot beet stew. My favorite was the Shiro which was literally finger licking good, and the Misir Wat had good flavor too.

When I walked in the gentleman working there showed me a picture of the injera with the various stews, and it looked small on his phone, but when it came out it was the biggest Injera I've seen in an Ethiopian restaurant in Israel. As Jared mentioned in the previous review, one serving is probably enough for 2 people. Considering the size of it, and it's modest 40 Shekel price, it is really an amazing deal, and one of the best bangs for your buck in the city.

I walked out feeling totally stuffed and super energized, and I'm already planning my next visit. If you want a protein packed, fresh, delicious, and affordable Vegan meal full of Ethiopian flavors I highly recommend checking out Gursha.

Pros: Great Value W/Generous Portions, Fresh, healthy, and Delicious injera, Great location

Simple, Authentic & Yummy

I was surprised to learn that this small restaurant / bar actually opened during the pandemic, so my son and I (both vegans) decided to try it out. Bottom line: we were very happy! The service is functional (quick and efficient, but not necessarily friendly), the food is very authentic and full of flavor, and the price is unbeatable. There's no menu, so you just sit at one of the few tables and they bring out however many trays you'd like of injera with all the stews and veggies on top, along with a side salad. Each tray is NIS 40, and can easily feed two people. We'll definitely be back!

Pros: Simple, authentic, Ethiopian cuisine, Very inexpensive
