The Best Vegan Chinese - Edit
Since becoming Vegan, we’ve missed a lot of the Chinese dishes we used to eat and enjoy. I stumbled across this restaurant on the off chance and we decided to try it after seeing the positive reviews on Happy Cow. It did not disappoint!!! We loved the food - it was delicious and flavoursome, and it perfectly mimicked the foods we missed. We were absolutely stunned to be honest!! The portion sizes were so good too, and we ended up bringing away three boxes of leftover for dinner the next day.

This place in Neutral Bay hits the spot for vegan Chinese. The staff are amazing, so friendly and service is super quick. It’s a little expensive and not the best vegan Chinese I’ve had but really good for the area as Neutral Bay doesn’t have many fully vegan places. We had the Shangtung chicken, and I think you have to like wheat meat to enjoy this, but it was yummy! Duck pancakes are really nice as well, but expensive. They have this paper on the plate that’s like grease paper, read it for a laugh, it makes no sense 😂

I came here with friends, omni and coeliac. The food was wonderful and everyone was very happy! I would happily come back and eat more of their menu! It can be a little cold in the restaurant so bring a coat.

Chinese plant based meal at Green Sprout - Edit
I was very excited when Green Sprout opened in Neutral Bay as there are not many other restaurants like it around the area. I was ready to try the dumplings as I know they are made fresh in daily, I think however that I am too used to MSG veggies so they lacked a little flavour because they don't use MSG at the restaurant. I came with a group for Mother’s Day yum cha. The food was delicious however the service was a bit slow. I will definitely be back for a dinner or lunch as the menu looks super.

This place does not disappoint and is worth making the effort to find at the end of a small mall with an unassuming entrance on busy Military Road. Super friendly service, nice selection of tables including a spacious balcony. Most importantly, delicious, authentic-tasting and well presented Chinese dishes from an extensive all-vegan menu. I'm looking forward to returning and trying more of the many dishes available as everything we had on the first visit was flawless.

I am absolutely delighted that Green Sprouts Vegetarian just opened three blocks away from our place and the food is fantastic!
Read moreTheir extensive menu has a lot of vegan Chinese dishes with some gluten free options. Based on my conversation with Carmen (the owner), they make most of their mock meats in the premises and the rest comes from a reputable company. I particularly LOVED Mongolian beef and Singapore noodles but their dumplings are also quite tasty and more interesting than most.
One of the things I must mention here is the staff is incredibly friendly. Lyn, in particular. She is the manager of Green Sprouts Vegetarian. Being a food blogger, I usually present my Vegfusion blog card. When I did that, Lyn took it and taped it on their wall so that she can remember me as VIP.
Really looking forward to going back. I just love the idea of supporting a local vegan business, especially when their food is that good. Green Sprouts Vegetarian in Neutral Bay is highly recommended.
