Nice enough - Edit
This cafe has a very basic menu with limited options but the food was good enough. I ordered the stone cold soba noodle salad. My friend had the katsu curry with seitan & a side of chips. Both meals were nice not great but nothing to complain about either.
Read moreThe cafe also sells cakes with the usual choice of teas, coffees & cold drinks. Plus they have a small selection of alcoholic drinks.
There's seating indoors for around 22 plus seating outside but it can get noisy out there due to the proximity of the road. There's no shade out there either and having sat inside and out, unless it's fine weather & a Sunday so less traffic it’s not the most pleasant places to sit & eat.
On the whole if you're passing it's worth a try.
Pros: Cakes available
Cons: Limited menu

delicious - Edit
the bacon toast was pretty unique. never had something like this before. but to be honest 9.95£ for a bread with some tofu on it is too expensive in my opinion.

Great place. The cakes and drinks were amazing. I had their roasted beetroot but it wasn’t to my liking, more of a personal thing. Staff were all really friendly too☺️

AVERAGE FOOD/NOT DOG FRIENDLY - Edit
Had the soup and chips, nice but nothing particularly special. You can get much better coffee at FRAN.
Read moreAlso, even if the food was amazing it could never be a 5* as it is not dog friendly. Such a shame, had to sit outside in the rain, will never understand this.

High Quality and Flavourful Dishes! - Edit
The Green Olive is an excellent vegan cafe situated in Porthaethwy. They update their menu frequently and run interesting specials, which provides customers with the opportunity to try their fresh and innovative dishes. They operate on a walk-ins only system and are open for breakfast (9am-12pm), lunch (12pm-4pm), and coffee and cakes only (4pm-5pm).
Read moreDuring my first visit, I had the Green Olive Breakfast. It was not easy to choose what to order as their breakfast menu was so varied and interesting, and I've already planned my breakfast order for next time (Spiced Plum and Coffee Pancakes). The breakfast was really delicious and incredibly filling with the stars of the show for me being 'the root veg and kale hash' and the 'sourdough toast'. I had my breakfast with a generously sized mocha, which I ordered with the optional (at additional cost) squirty cream and marshmallows, and the cream was the nicest vegan squirty cream I've ever had! I purchased some cakes to take away (a personal tradition I have now established when visiting vegan cafes), and they were phenomenal. I was particularly impressed with the Coconut, Lime, and Ginger Cake and have been raving about it to every person I have spoken to since I had it.
I visited Green Olive again a few days later for lunch, and the food was equally as delicious the second time around. Again, I struggled to choose a dish as there so many tempting choices, but I ended up having the Seared Mixed Mushrooms and Celeriac Bowl with Gochujang Seitan Strips and Shwarma Fries as sides to share between my friend and I. The Bowl was packed with flavour, and the combination of textures was cleverly thought out, but the sides were so excellent that I preferred those to my main dish. Fortunately, the sides I chose are available as a part of other mains such as the Gochujang Seitan Bowl and Tofu Shwarma Focaccia, so I already look forward to trying these main dishes out! The seitan strips were well garnished, and the sauce was tasty and contained a kick and the tofu fries was a massive portion with massive flavour- they were so moreish that I resented having to share them with my friend! I again had some baked treats to-go (Chocolate Chip Cookies), and they were soft and chewy, but I did prefer the cakes.
The Green Olive is a MUST visit for vegans near Ynys Môn. They are masterful at what they do, and the cafe is comfortable and contemporary. I recommend following their social media for tasty menu and specials updates!💚

Amazing Vegan Food, the Best Staff - Edit
Regular visitor to Green Olive. Never been disappointed. Some of the best vegan food I’ve eaten. Staff are always great. They frequently update the menu so often new things to try. This time; had the Gochujang Seitan Focaccia Sandwich which went down beautifully with the soup of the day, alongside the guest filter coffee and a perfectly baked chocolate chip cookie.

Really delicious and nutritious food! - Edit
Was a really great lunch where we got the filter coffee and a turmeric latte and ate a delicious focaccia sandwich filled with seitan, cucumber, and other veg together with a salad and added on the soup of the day which was a very hearty cauliflower cream. The chocolate chip cookie for dessert was also yummy 😋 Will definitely return when next in Bangor!

Everything Green Olive does is a cut above. You can get breakfasts, sandwiches, soup, salads, cakes, a big range of coffees, and all are tasty and a bit more inventive than in many cafes.

Does not disappoint. - Edit
I noticed Green Olive when we visited Bangor University earlier in the year so was happy to revisit today as my son has started at uni here.
Read moreInitially we sat outside as there was no space inside, but asked to move in when a table was free. From the lunch menu (served 12-4) we had the Seitan Focaccia with pizza chips and my wife had the beetroot soft cheese focaccia. The Seitan was lovely and my wife reported hers was too. The pizza chips topping perhaps a bit too sloppy for but my son and wife enjoyed them.
Not cheap but lovely as an occasion treat so we will be back when we visit the area soon.
Oh the staff and service was very bright , friendly and efficient- thank you.
Pros: Nice simple menu , Friendly service
Cons: Cawton press Ginger - no ginger!

Beautiful - Edit
We sat outside on a warm, sunny day and watched the world go by.
Read moreWe enjoyed iced tea, baked beetroot focaccia and an orzo salad with seitan strips. (That whipped feta still cheese in the focaccia was the best vegan cheese I've ever had.)
We also have scones for desert. I've never had a scone before because I've been vegan a really long time. It was INCREDIBLE. I need more of that in my life for sure.
The staff were attentive and really helpful with local information.
We'll definitely be back here when we can.
Pros: The vegan cheese was next level, Good service , Excellent variety
Cons: Needs to open in the evening

Seems like a lovely place - Edit
Nice selection of drinks and cakes. The staff seemed friendly and helpful, not only concerning the cafe - one guy offered to help us find our way onwards when leaving the cafe at closing time (we visited Wales as tourists). Would return to taste their other dishes if I’d had the opportunity.
