Chewy... - Edit
I was excited to try a fully vegan Indian restaurant but was disappointed by the food. For starter the Chat Papri was like a breakfast cereal (like giant cornflakes) covered in yoghurt and the mock meat Lamb Roganjosh was very chewy - like old mutton ! I did like the garlic Naan though.
Pros: Friendly service
Cons: The mock meat is to be avoided

GREEN MUSHROOM MAGIC - Edit
I'm a vegan GP and celebrate Gary and his wife's transition to full 100%vegan cuisine at the Green Mushroom, Glebe... This is my favourite Indian eatery and the WORLD's FIRST FULLY VEGAN INDIAN restaurant ... Well done Gary... Your food is healthy, tasty, nutritious and gives me a karma free feeling of bliss... The staff are brilliant and the tandoori tempeh is out of this world ... I'm on a food high !!!!

Not quite up to expectation - Edit
I really wanted this place to be great, but I have to say that the Palak Mushroom and Tofu Masala we ordered (around $16-$17 each), while not terrible, did not have a great deal of flavour, which was disappointing. The setting is nice, a little bit fancy and the staff are friendly and helpful. We ordered two types of kulfi for dessert. The mango variety was perhaps the tastiest thing we ate that evening, while the pistachio one, while nice, was served frozen on a stick, making it difficult to share, and perhaps not that appropriate for a restaurant. By the way, the restaurant is not fully vegan, with plenty of dishes containing paneer.

Flavour explosion - Edit
I ate here several times in July, and the food was amazing. It is more expensive than the average Indian restaurant, but everything could be veganized then (and I understand it to all be vegan now - they were in the transition process when I visited) and the flavours were exquisite. Be aware that if you're dining in at a busy time, it gets very noisy.

Not all vegan - Edit
I dispute the assertion that the restaurant has gone all vegan. I ate there on 17 September, 2016, and the menu still featured many lacto dishes. Yes, they are very vegan-aware, and the menu indicates vegan dishes and dishes that can be made vegan (such as by replacing paneer with tofu), but it is not a vegan restaurant. The food is fine, but I agree with previous comments that it is a bit pricey.
Pros: vegan-friendly
Cons: pricey, only open in evenings

Overpriced - Edit
I'm surprised at the five star reviews, I've eaten there twice, each time there was only one other person or a couple present. It's too expensive, I had the samosa (2 for $7.95) which were really dry and the Eggplant Potato Masala ($16.95). I requested it hot but got a mild, practically flavourless main.
Mains range from $14.95 to $18.95 which is ridiculous for meatless food of this calibre.

The best Indian food outside of India - Edit
Being British I have enjoyed my fair share of Indian cuisine: it's an institution in the UK. I have also travelled extensively across India and eaten my fair share of vegan dishes. Green Mushroom is by far one of the best Indian restaurants I have been lucky enough to eat out, and is my favourite place to eat in Sydney.
The dishes are full of flavour, healthy and not too oily (as some Indian food often is) and the atmosphere is modern but warm. It's a must visit if you're in Sydney
Pros: Atmosphere , Authentic , Great staff
Cons: Little pricey

Great Indian Food - Edit
We have been there on 2 occasions and will make it a regular. They are happy to cook vegan and gluten free options on request. There is good labelling on the menu.Wide range of northern Indian dishes. The smoky eggplant and mushroom palak as well as the onion rings are hard to go past. The atmosphere is more fine dining than your usual vege Indian place. The owner is friendly and attentive.Alcohol can be consumed on the premises.
Pros: Tasty vegan and gf options, Friendly helpful staff, Good decor

Great Indian food - Edit
A really lovely restaurant; despite the presence of some non-vegan items, the vegan selection is very large, and the service is fantastic. I would especially recommend the vegan "lamb" curry.

Lots of choice for Vegans and accommodating staff - Edit
There is a lot of choice on the menu, with the vegan options, and those that can be made vegan, clearly marked. It was delightful to be able to order without worrying about ghee in the cooking, or yoghurt in the nan.
The person I was dining with was intolerant to onion and garlic and the staff were happy to suggest good dishes, and modify existing ones to her needs.
The food seemed to tend on the spicy side, so if you are not as keen on hotness in a dish, do let them know or go for mild options rather than medium.
Pros: Lots of choice, Options clearly marked, Tasty!
