Disappointed

This was my first time staying in vegetarian friendly accomodations so I had no idea what to expect. The location is quite remote so I am thankful we had a car. It was very peaceful and would be good if you wanted to escape the noise. Thankfully the place came with pots and pans plus crockery and flatware and most importantly salt and pepper.

Prior to arriving I did a bit of checking and it said laundry facilities available, not quite accurate. While i was prepared to hang my laundry to dry, there was no laundry facilities available to do your own (Note: Texaco that is close by has washers and dryer available in the rear of the parking lot). However Brenda was kind enough to do our laundry for a nominal fee.

The most disappointing aspect by far was the beds, talk about stiff as a board. It would have been tolerable for a single night but after several nights I was anxious to get out of there. It was like sleeping on box springs and someone forgot to tell us to bring a sleeping bag or air mattress.

Pros: quiet

Cons: horrible beds

Peaceful and friendly

What a lovely little find. We had everything we needed in our little cottage nestled in beautiful greenery. Chris showed us around on our first evening - including an impromptu tour of his impressive gardens and his wife very kindly gave us some fresh, organic, homegrown courgettes, basil and green beans - so delicious!

Thank you for a really wonderful stay.

Pros: Chris and his wife were very friendly and helpful, Beautiful surroundings, Peaceful

Cons: Need a car - limited transport/nearby shops, Could get cold at night - bring thick socks!, I've run out of cons!

Lovely secluded spot

I stayed here in the spring of 2014 and absolutely loved it. I was looking to spend a week by myself, writing and reading and going for long walks, and Green Lodge was the perfect place for a DIY retreat. I didn't rent a car, just took a taxi from Bantry, and that worked out fine (I did WANT to feel like I was in the middle of nowhere!) The owners are lovely and I felt like I got really good value for my euros. The cottages would be great for a family holiday as well.

Pros: Beautiful bucolic setting, But close enough to a town, quiet and clean

Cons: Not the place to go if you want pub life

Pretty and quiet

A quaint old place. Bit musty inside the apartments - they have a distinct late 70s cottage-y vibe. Our apartment had a brand new oven and elements. Decent plumbing and water pressure, too.

One of the owners is a very nice older Englishman (we didn't meet his wife). They are both vegans. They had some vegan food near the main door on display (for purchase I believe) in case guests needed something.

The gardens are pretty, and the whole place has a sleepy retreat quality to it. There's also a pub down the street that has live music.

Extremely affordable. We paid 30 euros for the night I think.
