Bad Organisation, spend over 2 hours there - Edit
We only got the half of our order and had to spend there more than two hours. Food was okay but had the same dished better in other places. Didn‘t want to do the cooking class anymore after our visit. Would have had potential but a clear NO at the moment.

Absolutely incredible - Edit
This is now the main location after the closure of the other branch. Chef May Kaidee is here. Amazing food that rivals places like Vegan Makanakhon.

There's really no comparison to vegan Mahanakhon as it is top notch. And as far as I know chef Mai Kaidee is still in New York?

Everything was great - Edit
Staff are very friendly and speak English well so are easy to talk to about the food. There were people doing a cooking class while we were there which made for a fun atmosphere. The outdoor space is lovely, it's a nice respite from the busy streets of Bangkok. We had the papaya salad, coffee, mango smoothie and a noodle dish. The mango smoothie was perfectly made and the food was also prepared just right. Big menu of vegan Thai classics, definitely go!

amazing cooking class, Jenny is a great teacher - Edit
we went to the other restaurant in the morning and asked to book a class for the same afternoon. they accommodated us and we ended up have a class for ourselves. Jenny was an amazing teacher, she gave great advice and instructions but let us do everything ourselves. we made so much food and had enough to take home and eat later. all of the food we made was flavoursome and aromatic. #Veganuary

Full recommendation - Edit
PLEASE NOTE: If you do the morning class, do NOT make the "mistake" we did and have breakfast before. You will cook, eat, repeat. So, we started eating curry by 10am again and were completely full by the time we finished the class :D

Things we cooked:
- Tom Yum Curry paste
- Green curry paste
- Peanut sauce
- Tom Yum soup
- Tom Kha soup
- Massaman curry
- Green curry
- Fried spring rolls
- Papaya salad
- mango sticky rice
- Thai (milk) tea (available with milk, coconut milk, or lemon juice)
-------------
We booked a cooking class for a Thursday morning (9-12), 1,700 Baht per person, only few days in advance, and ended up being the only participants. The lovely lady who instructed us wasn't too well-versed in English, but we made it work. And later May Kaidee had her own class (1:1 class on how to make tofu) next to us and gladly helped out whenever we had questions.
The class was super fun, and the food super tasty. You will receive a small booklet with all the recipes you cook that day, but we also bought her full cookbook for 500 Baht.
May Kaidee also invited us to join her in her restaurant, and her tofu participant shared that he had helped out cooking pad thai there last night ("best way to practice"), or to join another cooking class the next day as volunteers / supporting instructors for 50 participants. Unfortunately, we didn't have time in our schedule, but just to give you an idea.
Pros: High value, clear recommendation

Amazing recipes! - Edit
My husband and I went for the cooking class and everything we made was so delicious and on-point!
Read moreHowever, the cooking class itself was rushed, with the staff trying to throw most of the pre-cut ingredients into the wok instead of allowing us to do it. They had a big group coming in right after us which definitely impacted our cooking experience.
However, it was still worth it for the recipes we got and techniques we learned and delicious food we got to eat!
Pros: Simple yet delicious recipes , Friendly staff, Extensive list of items made
Cons: Cooking experience was rushed

A gem of a vegan cooking school! - Edit
My mom and I took a vegan afternoon cooking class and has a wonderful experience! It’s such a gem of a school, so much wisdom to learn and to apply to our cooking at home. I felt like we took a way very valuable information not just for following recipes but for integrating new concepts into our vegan cooking. We registered through the May Kaydee cooking school website. Thank you for sharing your joy with us! I’d leave 5 stars but the app doesn’t allow 5 stars for restaurants that are not fully vegan or vegetarian. #Veganuary

I had chicken in the Panang - Edit
I freaked out as I didn't realise until chewing the second piece, first I thought it was soy, Heura or some kind of processed food until I realised it was real chicken.
Read moreI'm starting the year with a bit of animal body inside me, which make me really sad.
Other than that, flavours of the food were good and the owner said she was sorry recooked the panang without chicken and invited us the dinner which was panang, masaman and pad thai.
I'm very disappointed as if you cannot trust restaurants that are vegan/vegetarian what can you trust then?
may_kaidee_team
We're so sorry for the mixup, but this was not at our Tanao Rd. location where you posted this review. We don't store chicken or any other meat at our Tanao Rd. location. Our other location at Samsen Soi 5 shares the same property as Green Garden which has a non-veg kitchen (separate from our kitchen there). When at Samsen Soi 5 you need to be sure to ask for the May Kaidee menu. When you ordered at Samsen Soi 5 it wasn't clear to the staff that you wanted May Kaidee dishes. We're very sorry about the confusion and please let us know if we can make it up to you in the future.

We thought we were at may kaidee vegan and vegetarian because that's the sign you can read in the top of the main entrance and in the menu. What I mean is what you read is may kaidee vegan and vegetarian in one sign and green garden in other sign, you don't read chicken or fish in any place of the menu they provided us or any sign saying: "hey, even in the main entrance you can read vegan an vegetarian and in the menu you can read vegan and vegetarian we will serve you chicken and fish sauce"

Top Cooking Class - Edit
I can only recommend the May Kaydee Cooking Class. They can easily adapt the vegetarian recipes to vegan ones. It is indeed a lot of food, so make sure you come with an empty stomach. I did tbe 5pm evening class and was alone, but they still held the class for me. They were extremly welcoming and open-minded.

Fantastic food from the sister of famous May Kaidee! - Edit
Very pleased to find this place after realising May Kaidee other eating places closed. Extremely warm welcome from Pon, Mays sister. Her English is excellent & she made me a special salad. My partner loved his veg green curry with brown rice. The other staff were also lovely. Pon said May Kaidee in Chiang Mai also open again now. Will be going back for dinner later!

Vegan cooking class - amazing! - Edit
This place is also a cooking school under the May Kaidee brand. The restaurant and cooking school in BKK is run by May’s sister, Pohn, who is not vegan/veggie but understands veganism perfectly and can teach you a full class with only vegan ingredients. Don’t eat anything the night before nor before your class starts as you will be eating A LOT of delicious food made as part of the class. If you have the time, like cooking and love Thai food, do not miss out!, this school is fantastic!

Came here a couple of years ago and it has changed a lot since. The food is still good but the atmosphere and green lushy decoration is pretty much gone .. the staff is friendly but didn’t speak English and there was some misunderstanding with the order.

Fantastic cooking school - Edit
Had such an amazing time at the cooking school, told Pon (the chef/teacher) that we wanted to do a vegan cooking class to which she responded very positively and was super happy to teach us veganised Thai dishes. We made Tom yum soup, massaman curry, green curry, pad Thai, spring rolls and mango sticky rice! All vegan and all delicious!
Read moreShe understands veganism perfectly and has substitutes such as mushroom sauce instead of oyster sauce/ tofu/ soya chucks etc.
It was fantastic to learn how to make traditional Thai dishes vegan, a super fun experience while visiting Bangkok. Highly recommended.
Pros: Great cooking class, delicious food, Fantastic chef and atmosphere
Cons: Day starts with a trip around the food market, It has a lot of live fish and dead meat, some may , find difficult, but power through, it's worth it.

More than a restaurant - Edit
This is not just a restaurant or a guest house. It is a micro universe of warmth, openness, best Thai food, and most interesting people on Earth. If you let the place reveal itself to you, of course, as it might feel too relaxed or even odd at first.
Read moreAll of it is happening thanks to the owner of the place, Pon. You will know what I mean if you get to know her. Just talk to Pon or whoever you see there, like the foreigners helping out at the kitchen (I was one for a week and it was quite an experience).
If you simply came to eat, it's expected and great, clearly; the prices are very reasonable for the quality and bigger than in more traditional Thai places portions. It is going to be some of the tastiest Thai food you've had. I'm vegan and had something new daily throughout a week, and as I participated in cooking I can confirm you will get a properly vegan version of whatever you choose from their Vegetarian menu. Do stop by this place, seriously.

lovely veggie options - Edit
The lady who runs it was very lovely and happy to serve us even though it was quite late. Loads of veggie options which is rare in Asia. Pricing is 80baht average for a dish which isn’t too bad (around £2 at the time of writing) but obviously you can get a street food dish for 40. Had a coconut noodle soup which was delicious and full of veggies and a papaya salad. Would recommend if you’re struggling to find decent vegetarian Thai food.

expensive for bangkok - Edit
green garden is a restaurant with a good atmosphere and nice decoration but fairly expensive for bangkok. 6 falafel with a tiny bit of hummus will cost you 110 Baht (still not a lot for european standards but as a backpacker you get terribly stingy in thailand). the local price for a plate of street food that will leave you satisfied is around 30-40 Baht so I wouldn't go here again. it's just a rather fancy place for backpackers with too much money.

Cons: pricy in comparison to other places
