Worth experiencing once

Cute little bakery with friendly staff. They had a small selection of various cookies, cakes, and breads. Vegan items are clearly labelled, everything is gluten free, and they answered questions about other ingredients. Prices are not shown, probably because the items were very expensive. The dark chocolate raspberry cake was very rich, great texture and bursting with flavour. The cookie sandwich middle layer with lemon inside chocolate was refreshing. Fun to try out, but too costly to go back repeatedly.

Pros: Rich cakes, Friendly staff

Cons: Expensive

Delicious, but way too expensive

They are so expensive that they don’t list any prices for the baked goods. I got a piece of cake and a brookie and it was over $17! And the cake piece was just a thin slice.

Both items were super rich and flavorful and delicious, but I don’t need to go back.

Pros: Flavorful

Cons: Really expensive

Fantastic vegan tasties!

Love their rotating vegan menu selection, always something good to get! I enjoyed a bakery item at the Snohomish farmers market from them.

Delicious Cakes

Grain is an adorable bakery with some vegan options. As someone who lives in San Diego, I am used to more than 3 vegan options on display, but as someone who grew up here, I was pleasantly surprised.

We tried the cake, cookie, and brookie sandwich. The brookie was our least favorite, as the filling was a thick layer of peppermint frosting that my boyfriend described as “what a mouthful of toothpaste tastes like” (and I agree). However, the cookie and cake were delicious. The cake was moist, and the sweetness was well-balanced. My whole family liked the cake, and my dad, who is not vegan or a sweet person, ended up eating most of it.

After we left, my mom kept commenting on how friendly everyone was, and I was happy with our cookie and cake purchase. I love seeing the vegan (& gf!) options grow in this area, and I will be back for more treats.

Hidden gem bakery

My friend and I stopped in for vegan galettes and soy London fog lattes. The staff were friendly, the vegan selection of baked goods was impressive, and the bakery has a really friendly, historic ambience that we both appreciated.

Unique Cake Flavors!

I usually get my Grain sweets at the farmers markets they frequent, but have been to the physical shop around half a dozen times. I always go for her cakes, she has some really delicious and unique flavors like Persian Love (cardamom cake with rosewater, raspberry jam, & pistachios), Cookies N'Creme, Lavender Earl Grey, Apple Butter. I've never had a dry cake, the texture has always been great and I love the variety.

There are usually multiple options for vegan or vegan AND gluten-free. Keep in mind that this bakery does have non-vegan options, but items are well-labeled. They offer very large vegan salted chocolate chip cookies and cinnamon rolls also, though I've never tried them. I believe all of their laminated pastries do contain dairy/butter though.

The staff has always been very friendly, and the items presented in an appealing manner. I think prices are somewhat high, ~$10 for a slice of cake, but it's typically 3 layers and a fairly generous serving. If they have scrap cake bowls, those are a great deal, in my opinion, at about half the price. The owner is a mother who started baking for her son's food sensitivities, and she has a really great heart and provides fair wages to her employees, she also tries to source locally and use organic ingredients.

Lots of delicious options

This bakery is a nice addition to the vegan options downtown Snohomish! They usually have a great variety of vegan options. We went during a busy day during Kla Ha Ya days and they were sure to be stocked. We got a Raspberry brookie sandwich, blackberry cupcake, and salted chocolate chip cookie. All were delicious, and the people were kind too!

Pros: Lots of options, Friendly, Clean place
