Limited vegan choices - Edit
There were only three entrees on the menu, only one vegetarian, though they said they could make it vegan. It was delicious seared flavored cabbage. I had the eggplant starter, which tasted good but was nothing amazing. I also had the young carrots side dish, which was caramelized very sweet, but also nothing incredible. In general, not worth the price, even though it's probably the best cabbage I've ever had.

We went here for lunch which was 2 courses for €35,00. I enjoyed the food, it was a great variation of vegetables and well seasoned. Good place for when you go out with people who eat meat/fish.

Been to Graanmarkt quite a few times but the quality of the vegan / vegetarian menu is not consistent. Had a few amazing experiences but also not so much. Since it’s pricey my expectations are always high. Nice setting for a special occasion

Good for when you have to come with meat eaters - Edit
This is a great place to go to if you need a restaurant that's vegan-friendly with meat eaters / colleagues. It's often difficult to find something that's appropriate to go to with your boss for example. For that, Graanmarkt 13 is perfect. The staff is very friendly and vegan is known and no problem (they even knew not to include honey). The only downside is that the dish is the 'normal' dish without the animal products and with maybe a few tomatoes instead. Mind, the tomatoes will be prepared very well, but...

Best vegetable cook in Antwerp! - Edit
Me and my husband have been here twice and we already have booked another time to come here with some family. Although there is mainly meat and fish on the menu, vegetarians and vegans are very well taken care of! Just a simple message while you're booking online is enough.
Read moreThe cook came to us to say that he was very happy to welcome vegans in his restaurant and that he would do his very best to please us. And pleased we were!!! Everything was just perfect. At first when we saw the prices, it seemed rather expensive, but if you see what you get on your plate, it is very reasonable. We really got so much food and so many varieties of seasonable veggies, it was hard to finish everything, but we managed. And luckily we left some space for the phantasmorgastic desert: vegan saffron ice cream. Oh, my! I even got the recipe from the cook.
Although it is a higher price class, I really can reccommend this restaurant.
Pros: Deliciously prepared seasonal vegetables , Very, very, very friendly staff, Nice big portions and honest food

The vegan dishes looked like they had just left out the animal derived ingredients... It's a nice place to have lunch or dinner and it's great they are willing to serve a vegan menu on request, but the vegan dishes should be more than the regular dishes without the animal products. Value for money could be a lot better.

Are we talking about the same restaurant? The cook made all the effort to please us and in my opinion, the vegetables were kept as natural as possible. It was also very balanced and I never got the feeling that they just left out the meat. They were very creative in what they prepared for us. Of course everyone is entitled to have an own opinion, as it is based on his or hers experience. I was just very surprised to read your comment, as it is almost the opposite of mine. Maybe the cook had a bad day when you came to eat there :-)

Hi Wendy, I've had lunch and dinner at Graanmarkt 13. For the lunch we didn't make any reservations so they didn't know they would have a vegan over. I didn't mind that the vegan dishes looked like the regular dishes with the animal products left out since they didn't get an advance notice. I went back for dinner quite some time after I had the lunch there. I mentioned it on the online reservation and me (and a friend) contacted them by phone well in advance to ask about the vegan menu. So when I got the vegan menu and I saw it was the same as the other dishes, without the animal products, I was really disappointed. The food was nice, but it wasn't a lot of food. Even the other people at my table were still hungry after. But that could be our fault as we don't have lunch when we go out to dinner at night. Have you ever visited l'épicerie du cirque? Their vegan menu is just perfect in my opinion.
