Wide assortment of standards such as veggie burgers, gluten milanesas, enchiladas, and Asian-Mex fusion with many vegan options. Serves no alcohol. Non-smoking. Decent place but not the best in Morelia - Edit

Food was OK but the meal deals come with way too much stuff (unless you're suuuuper hungry) - burger, rice, soup, yoghurt, jelly and agua de frutas. I would recommend just getting a burger to take away as they were cheaper, probably sufficient for most appetites and the service was a bit weird too - one day the waitress told me they had no food despite it being well before closing, doors still open and signs still up etc, and when I went back she was just a bit unfriendly and there was no one else there so atmosphere was a bit awkward. I would also try to clarify in which dishes they use animal products as the answer I got was unclear to me.

Pros: Decent burgers

Cons: Service could be improved, Awkward atmopshere, Meal deals come with way too much food for most

Still good! - Edit

No one has reviewd this place in over a year - so here it is: Govinda's is sitll here in Morelia, and still good! The meals are still set -- choice of 3 for lunch, and all vegetarian. I had tempura brocolli, rice, veggie soup and a chard soup/broth, a samosa, then 2 dessert-like items - a watermelon gelatin (weird, but my daughter loved it), and a not-too-sweet blackberry yogurt - delicious! Oh, and a guayaba agua fresca, also tasty! They do close at 6, but arrive before 5:30 if you want to be served. And don't expect an inviting/attractive ambience - it's bare bones / quite run down, but the tables, place settings and food were all clean!

Pros: Veggie!, filling, good value

Cons: some people might not love the stairs, dingy / run-down decor

Delicious and Filling - Edit

I don't speak much Spanish, so I let the hostess suggest a combination for me. I asked her if there was leche or queso, and she said only soy milk. About six different dishes came out, and none of them was a salad. Everything was very good, and cost fifty pesos for the meal.

This is the best restaurant in Morelia for non-meat eaters. There aren't that many places available in this city but this is tops. Great-tasting food, fast and dependable service. I ate hear twice while I was visiting this quaint city and will return again.

Pros: Great flavor in the food, Dependable, Fast Service

India not that far away from Morelia afterall - Edit

Govinda's is downtown Morelia but a few blocks from the main plaza. It is upstairs. For all that it is worth the walk and the climb. It is a treasure. Do not expect it to be Indian ie Hindu cuisine. But it is close enough for me to savor a taste of Asia. They also have hamburgers, vegetarian ones, and Mexican specialties without meat. Speaking just about the Lunch Special # 1, the closest in the menu to an Asian meal, you get: a soup, lentil, barley or vegetable; a mild curry; a mound of rice; a yogurt; a samosa (like an empanada) with a vegetable stuffing; a pakora (a vegetable fritter); a gelatin dessert made from a non animal source; a slice of whole grain bread; and a fruit drink. I have asked three times and was told that everything is made strictly (Indian) vegetarian in their kitchen. I love the quick service, the filling meal, the modest price.

Pros: fresh wholesome cooking, pleasant quick service
