Questionable staff - Edit

Used to love this restaurant and the food but then they hired a man known to have sexually abused/raped multiple women so I no longer support their business. They also let him book shows at this place and I can't support a business that supports people like that.

First time, not the last - Edit

I ordered delivery for the first time from this café. DELISH! Got the 4-layer burrito with vegan cheese - MONSTER portion! The food runner also dropped of a lemonade, which I did not order but certainly enjoyed!

Pros: All vegetarian, Plenty of choices, Vegan Cheese!

not impressed - Edit

Tried giving this place 1 star but the minimum you can give a vegan restaurant on here is 2 stars (horrible programming Happy Cow). I had heard great things about this place and was eager to try it. The inside is lackluster and undecorated. There were bullet holes in the front door. The menu is mostly soy items and they are not organic. The food itself was okay, but nothing extravagant. I probably won't eat there again.

Pros: vegan food

Cons: interior is not extremely welcoming, more pragmati, mostly soy options on menu, don't use organic produce

Unsanitary, Food Sub Par - Edit

The place was not clean. Trash was almost overflowing from the garbage can.

There was a young boy running around in the kitchen and in the dining area. Before we left we heard the staff tell the boy to stop participating in an activity as it would make him more sick. We also saw him coughing. Again he was running around through the kitchen and the dining area.

When we ordered Malai Kofta, the staff corrected our pronunciation. The staff corrected us by saying Kafta which is an incorrect pronunciation. This gave us a first impression of the staff being both rude and ignorant.

The staff acted as if it was too much effort to take our order. At this restaurant the customer throws away their trash. The only thing the staff was doing was taking orders and wiping off the tables.

While we were waiting for our food we found ourselves wanting to leave as the atmosphere was lacking. There was no music, only fans to cool and the entire place seemed unclean.

We ordered the Ham sandwich and the Kofta. They were both sub par. We could have easily bought vegan ham and bread at the grocery store for a better meal. We have made kofta at home before. Their Kofta was not authentic and lacked flavor.

Pros: Not too pricey

Cons: Unsanitary, Staff was unfriendly, Food was subpar

Yummy Choco PB Mousse Cake - Edit

I stumbled upon this place while walking around Little Five Points. I went in with the intention to pickup some sweet treats. There were lots of cake options which were all vegan. The staff is very friendly and attentive.

I chose a slice of the Chocolate Peanut Butter Mousse Cake. The cake, overall, was delicious. It was covered with chocolate fudge with a chocolate cake base and the peanut butter mousse in between. The portions are moderate for price.

Pros: Lots of vegan cake options, Convenient location

Cons: Recycling/waste options

Great Experience - Edit

My hubby-to-be and I recently visited Govinda's. We absolutely loved our dining experience here. I had the meatball sub with regular fries and my fiancé had the black bean burger with Brazilian fries. A meat-eater would not be able to tell that those meatballs were not actually meat. The sauce along with the cheese added additional flavor to the sub. I personally like a little heat to my food so I added some hot sauce to the sub. My fiancé liked the flavor and size of the black bean burger. For dessert, we had the red velvet cake and the blueberry cobbler. I wasn't a fan of the red velvet cake. It was just okay to me and lacked the flavor of the type of red velvet cakes that I am accustomed to eating. However, I LOVED the blueberry cobbler. It wasn't too sweet, filled with lots of crust (my favorite part of cobbler), and it was packed with tons of blueberries. One of the things that made our experience great was the service. The owner was so nice and knowledgeable of vegan and vegetarian foods. She was nice and friendly and great to have a conversation with. Many restaurants fail to realize the importance of customer service. I could eat at a place that has amazing food, but would never go back if the service was horrible and I didn't feel valued as a customer. Fortunately, we experienced the exact opposite at Govinda's and that, along with the amazingly good food is why we will definitely be back!

Loved this place! - Edit

I was so excited to find this cozy, casual restaurant! Food was reasonably priced and tasty. Menu is vegan. They just have mozzarella cheese on hand and honey-mustard dressing if you want it.

A lot of mock meat options, so I requested a veggie wrap and they were happy to oblige. Staff was super-friendly. Cupcakes were delicious, especially the chocolate espresso cupcake. Amazing!!!

Pros: great location, tasty , great dessert

Food lacked flavor & pricey - Edit

The restaurant is cafe style not much ambiance - kind of like a take-out place. We really like the fact that they offer is vegan/vegetarian and they carry organic and non-gmo ingredients. But the food lacked flavor. We ordered the tilly sub, the four layer burrito and the tsunami wrap - all three were very dry with very little sauce and flavoring. The veda fries were good, the monk soup was good and the spinach salad had potential but they gave you so little dressing that it wasn't enough to flavor the salad. So I guess they skimped on dressings. The cake was good. The service was a bit slow but I guess they're just starting out and looked like they were short staffed. All in All I would definitely go back if I'm in that area and would give them another chance since they have just opened and I liked their menu selection. Plus the service was very good. Pretty expensive prices for take out style restaurant but the portions were large.

Pros: vegan/vegetarian, non-gmo, some organic

Cons: pricey for what it is

Delicious!! - Edit

This place is incredible - the food is fresh and delicious and the service is friendly. The prices are great, too, and you get lots of food. All of the quesadillas and wraps are delicious and the desserts are to die for, especially the key lime pie!! This place deserves to stay open for a long, long, time!!

Pros: Great food, Large portions, Incredible vegan desserts

Great spot for vegans - Edit

I love Govinda's! Glad that the menu selections are mostly vegan too. The cashiers that I've met, Naja and Ranga, are both wonderful and very pleasant ladies to work with. My favorite item is the Smokie Sub sandwich (have had it more than once) and I also really like the Humble Crumble Wrap. My daughter (5 years old) likes the So' Chic Quesadilla. The chef is also very nice and friendly. This is a great place to eat - so glad I found it last month!

Pros: Great customer service, Mostly vegan

Awesome Vegan Food and Desserts!! - Edit

I went here twice when visiting Atlanta and I really think they have great food. I tried the Gari Wrap one trip and the 4 Layer Burrito the next. I much preferred the Gari Wrap because it had more flavor, but the 4 Layer Burrito was still great. I also tried the Sloppy Go that my mother was having and I will definitely be getting that next time because it was delicious. For dessert, I tried their Vegan Red Velvet, Chocolate and a Strawberry filling cake. The cake with the Strawberry filling was my favorite and it tasted much like a spice cake. The chocolate cake was amazing as well as the red velvet!! The service was not great my first time there as my friend ordered fries, but never got them. They completely forgot about the order until she asked about it when we were leaving an hour later. They quickly offered to remedy the situation by offering us a whole batch of fries or a slice of cake. We took the slice of cake and left happily.
My second trip there I was able to try the fries and I would say they were good, but salty!
Overall, I love this place and will continue to eat here whenever I'm in the area.

Pros: Amazing Desserts, Good Food

Great food, super friendly and vegan safe - Edit

Let me start by saying the cashier’s friendly greeting when we walked in the door set the tone for the whole experience. Maybe we were nervous given unfriendly experiences with help at other vegan restaurants, but the pleasant greeting, smile and since she was ringing someone’s order up saying “I’ll be right with you” really made us feel welcome. In fact I had called the night before to ensure they would be open the next day and the lady who answered the phone was friendly, polite, cheerful and helpful.
We purposely chose a trip to Atlanta on Monday to try their vegan buffet and were certainly glad we did. The meatless balls had a wonderful texture, I wish I could get mine to stay together so well, and the sauce they were in, I put it on my veggies I loved it so much. The broccoli with sweet potato bites is a combo I never would have thought of and was just delightful. There was both white and brown rice for the meatless balls and sauce. The mac and cheese was good and the lentil soup had just a kick to it, very good as well. One of us ordered the Smokie Sub sandwich. Nice size and was delighted to have black olives on it, too. I saw someone order a burger, it looked very large as well. So between the buffet and the sandwiches, we felt the portions were nice sized and the prices were in line for the area and certainly a ‘bargain’ among vegan restaurants.
Not fancy but it fits in with the hippy, eclectic neighborhood and has a fun atmosphere to it. The owner was so kind and ensured we were enjoying our meal. Adults and teens were all pleased by the dishes. Can’t wait to go back.

Pros: Good food, friendly, Nice portion size for the money

Cons: restaurant could be a little cleaner

LOVE Go Vinda! - Edit

I headed to Govinda for a casual meal with some friends and the food was done right. While the dining area is a no frills type of place, the emphasis is put on the food - which in my opinion is what really matters. I ordered the Chit Sub - which is a whole wheat sub bun with vegan chicken and peppers. It was amazing! I also order the Veda Fries which are fries dipped in chickpea batter and fried. It is their version of pakoras or bajia (common indian appetizer). They were equally delicious. My friend ordered the Gari Wrap which we were told was the most popular item on the menu, and she really enjoyed it. I will be trying that next time.

We shared the raspberry mousse chocolate cake which was to one of the most delicious cakes I've ever had. It was moist and I couldn't believe it was vegan! We commented that with food this good, why would anyone need to eat animals.

The service was excellent - very friendly and welcoming. I loved that they don't over salt their food and try to keep things natural. Go Vinda is a great addition to Atlanta and I can't wait to go back.

Pros: Mostly Vegan, Great Food- Buffets at lunch and weekend, Add Salt at your descresion

Simply Wonderful! - Edit

The best vegan food I've had in a long time. We enjoyed the chit sub and mama g sub with veda fries. It was so delicious! We ordered to go because little five parking is a nightmare on Saturday nights and everything was ready in 10 minutes. We also had a vegan peanut butter mousse that rocked our world. Desserts aren't listed on the website so ask!

Finally! Vegan quesadillas in ATL! - Edit

We've been searching for vegan quesadillas since moving here from Berkeley, so I was so excited to see them on the menu here! They were very good. I will definitely be returning for more. The veda fries are also a must-have! Delicious! Other menu items such as sandwiches and burritos look tasty. Everything can be made with vegan cheese. Bonus points for being near our favorite beer bar. The buffet looked OK, but I suspect we will be sticking with the menu on future trips. Can't wait to try the vegan baked goods also!

Pros: vegan quesadillas, great location
