Fair food with good vegan options

All the spaces that offer vegan-options deserve a compliment. The price was good and the food savory.

Pros: How to choose the plate, Size, Price

Cons: When I went there, was a lot of dairy-options, The curry could be better seasoned

Hearty wholesome eats

Good and convenient counter slap up vegan and vegetarian food. While not gourmet in flavour, is still tasty and wholesome. The dhal is hands-down the tastiest item 👌🏼

Pros: Good portions , Tasty food, Reasonably priced

Cons: Dishes are not gourmet in flavour but still tasty

Those koftas 🤤

I love the koftas here. The curries are also really nice. I like choosing from the selection of curries and salads. There is usually a vegan dessert too. V means vegan.

Pros: Koftas , Good prices , Pick and mix

Beautiful and home-style food

I ordered the medium plate for $13. Very filling and felt at home. I especially loved the potato bake and the baked pasta. Would love to visit again for lunch.

MSG overload

I don't usually eat out because of the additives restaurants load into their food, but I thought being a health orientated restaurant, I decided to buy Govindas. Regrettably, a few hours after eating the overly salty, seasoned food, I had a horrible reaction: chronic headache, my neck was burning up, nausea, sweating, and feeling flushed. For me, it'scaused by MSG. Today, the day after, I've still got the chronic MSG hangover. I won't be eating at Govindas again.

Pros: Service was fantasic, Variety was good, The food was served quickly

Cons: MSG, Too salty, The lack of ingredient listings

Sorry to hear you had anything but a great experience with us at Govindas. For your information we do not use MSG or additives as such.

If you would like to contact us at feedback@govindas.net.au and we can go through what you ate and see if we can help identify what you maybe reacting to.

I recommend the surfers paradise one

Went here after going to the surfers paradise one first. It was still good but it was very small and busy. Not nearly as many choices and this one is only vegetarian. More expensive compared to the other one as it isn't a buffet here.

Because it was so busy I think a lot of people decided to take away which meant a lot of people were generating a lot of plastic waste.

Pros: Vegan options , Tasty food

Cons: Not as good as the other govindas , Busy and small

Surfers Paradise closed during covid and is not connected with Govindas Burleigh, Coolangatta & Kingscliff stores.

Over the last couple years we only use compostable containers for takeaway and all of our packaging is ether compostable or recyclable.

Good food

Clean and guilt-free takeaway food made with love and for a good community. I wish they offered a full vegan menu like the Govindas in Surfers Paradise, but unfortunately still have a lot of vegetarian options. I don’t mind either way but as a vegan I guess you can only have the curry, salads, Dahl and extras like koftas/pakoras. Still a lot of options though and my friends and I love eating here!

Pros: Vegan options , Tasty and clean food, Friendly staff

Cons: Could change up the vegan options here and there

My Favourite

I eat at Govindas probably 5 meals a week and I absolutely love it. The portion sizes are really generous, and the quality of the food is fantastic. It is so affordable and delicious. I would probably eat every meal there if I could justify it!

Pros: Delicious, Cheap, Many options

My go-to vegan place!

I eat at Govindas all the time, I've loved thier food for years - even before I was vegan. I've never had a bad meal but my favourites are the kofta balls, pakoras with mango chutney and the tofu and brocoli salad! Great place for takeaway and great value for money!

Pros: Value for money

100% vegan

We went there yesterday and they had a 100% vegan buffet. We payed only 14.90$ for all we could eat and the food was really good (Indian food). Would definitely go there again.

Prefer Surfers because this is not all vegan

I live very close to Burleigh, but I drive all the way to Surfers and struggle to find a car park because the one in Burleigh is not all vegan, which is incredibly disappointing.

As I also commented about The Cardamom Pod, they are only going to benefit from going completely vegan. I think it's far too confusing to have one of their shops vegan and the other not, and there are at least half of these options non-vegan.

I can't comment on that much food because obviously I haven't been able to try most of it, but the food they have in Surfers Paradise is amazing.

Pros: Vegan food is good, Not too expensive

Cons: Not all vegan, Inconsisent with other store, Very small/noisy location

Hari-vindas

The food here is amazing and so filling. So well priced I never don't get the largest size. I love coming here after the gym to refuel.
This is obviously a Hari Krishna orientated restaurant judging from the books on the tables and the prayers on the walls. So don't expect any onion, garlic or mushrooms in your food!
Defiantly worth checking out if your low on cash and want a massive feed.

Pros: Cheap, Great variety, Fast service

Cons: Religious orientated restaurant , Not all the menu is vegan

Good quality Krishna food

Having been to many Krishna joints, I know what to expect. Good, solid, affordable food that doesn't rock my world. The Dal was tasty and the koftas good too. The broccoli tofu salad was less exciting, but the curry was good. On the whole, a good experience in a packed location, so they're doing plenty right.

Awesome!

I have been to Govindas a number of times over the past few months. As a hospitality worker who invariably experiences lack of veg food in the workplace, I really enjoy filling up on potato bake, veg curry and washing it down with a delightful mango lassi! Love it!

Pros: Excellent food, Good Value, Take aways available

Best Koftas yet!

This Govindas has lovely fresh salads and amazing koftas! There are also vegan and gluten free options which help. The sago desserts are really amazing too. Well priced but very popular so you could be cueing up for a while. They try to have different hot food everyday so the vegetarians have a lot of options. They love their diary so I think the vegan options are a lot healthier if thats what you want.

Pros: very tasty, well priced, great location

Cons: might not get a seat, long cues

Very good veg place in Burleigh

If you come here during the lunch rush, there's a reason the line can snake out the door and onto the footpath. In a few short years, this place has become a cherished Burliegh icon.

Everything on the menu is delicious and well priced. Despite how busy the place is, the staff always manage a smile and are attentive to detail.

There is a sign on the counter that explains how they grow as much of the produce as they can on the certified organic Krishna Farm an hour away near Murwillumbah in Northern New South Wales.

My favorite savory item is the cheesy baked potato slice casserole thingy. I like the sweets the best here which is saying something as I'm not really a sweet tooth. The Tiramisu is fantastic.

My only criticism is that there weren't enough seats and the place gets crowded so quickly. It would be great if they could expand the premises somehow.

Pros: yum, affordable , friendly

Cons: need bigger space

Very good

The food here is consistent and always nice. The koftas with chutney are the best I have had. The veg curry is always good and the kofta salad is nice as it has mini koftas in it. The food can sometimes be a bit heavy but it is delicious. Perfect for all diets, all of the non-vegs I have taken here have loved it and returned on their own terms

Pros: Great food, Cheap, Convenient

Hare Krsna!

This is a fantastic dining venue....I thought it was one of the best and healthiest Hare Restaurants I have been too. Casual, yet chic, stylist indoor dining area. The salad selection was extensive & delicious as was the hot selection of food. Curries, lasagne, eggless quiche, spinach pie, fancy rice, deserts etc.... This is a restaurant that needs to be franchised and found in every town and village worldwide! Hare Hare Hare!

Pros: excellent food, relaxed, chic atmosphere, good value

Cons: needs to be more of these restaurants
