Govinda Lila is a lunch counter in the Comida section of the Mercado de San Blas. Today 10 soles got me a bowl of veg soup, a falafel burger with taters and a cup of sage tea. Totally awesome! Good food and good heart.

Superb Food and Wonderful Hosts - a hidden gem

I had food here (only) twice and was deliciously surprised each time at the quality and quantity of the food and the wonderful balance of spices - a rarity to find in most vegetarian places. Menu is only 10 soles for which you get a large bowl of soup and a main dish - see pix. I also had Burger to go as well as Falafel to go and they were equally delicious. The best part is the staff - Jagmohan and Lohitarani who welcome with warmth and serve with love.

Don't miss this gem!!

Pros: Great Taste, Warmth and Love, Cheap

Cons: None

Amazing food and Lila is wonderful

First time coming here and my bf and I were super hungry. Before ordering I showed Lila my Gluten allergy card and she made my Menu of the day not include the glutenious items. Second day Lila made my meal with a plantain in place of the meat replacement that had meat, it was DELICIOUS! Next day the could eat the soup (it usually has barely but she used rice this time). For the price of 8 soles you are full and happy by the end of your meal. We are heading out right now for day 4 of having lunch on Lila!! Amazing. Best deal in town and the food is SO flavorful!

Super cheap and tasty lunch

Small stall right in the corner of San Blas market.
The set lunch is a complete bargain at 7 soles. Mate, soup, and main. I had when and veg soup. Main was a delicious spinach empanada, with rice, pumpkin stew, and salad. They gave great chilli sauce with a nice kick!!
Just as we were about to leave, the chef pulled out a tray of freshly baked chicken and banana cake, which we obviously had to try! Only 4 soles for a big slab of it - delicious!!
Tasty, cheap, and healthy!!

Pros: Tasty and healthy, Cheap, Cake

Cons: Limited seating

SMALL, BIG HEART

Walking through the San Blas district in Cuzco, took us to the little market, we were hungry and ended at this little place where locals comes and some tourists too. Our lunch of the day was a soup and the main course, the taste was really good and the atmosphere surprising with all the colors and smells. Good to try if you are around.

Pros: Very good and simple.

Best vegan spot in Cusco! Twice the Flavor, Half the Price

This little corner of the San Blas Market is always packed, probably to the confusion of their neighbors. 7/s. Lunch specials are varied, tasty, and filling. I love that you get a chance to try various local dishes, vegan style. We ate here almost every day for two weeks.

We also tried the falafel, which is a hit, but I prefer the daily lunch specials.

Everything here is half the price of other vegan options with twice the flavor. It has the added benefit of cultural value, because you get to hang out in the San Blas market which is not as touristy as San Pedro.

Pros: delicious & cheap, all vegan, in the beautiful San Blas Market

Cons: none

Delicious, honest to goodness, budget food, great atmosphere

We ate here several times during our stay in Cusco. Located in a corner of San Blas food market, sitting at the tables on benches, with a mix of locals and tourists, the menu of the day is served by the very friendly and enthusiastic chef, who cooks the meals in her tiny kitchen, before your very eyes. The soups are wholesome and delicious and are followed by a very generous main dish - we had empanadas, a lentil stew, with veg accompaniments and everything was so tasty. A herbal tea finished off the meal. It makes a great change from the touristy cafes and restaurants in the rest of San Blas - a wonderful, supercheap, healthy and delicious choice for vegans, vegetarians and meat eaters alike. Go there!

Pros: Great atmosphere, very friendly , Great food, large portions , Very good value

A Little Gem

Govinda's is a little place located in the corner of the San Blas market. Ive lived in Peru about 6 months, and Ive eaten there at least 15 times. The best thing about it is the price, you can get a meal and soup for 7 soles. The drawback, there is only one option, you eat what she cooks. However, this is a very common way of doing lunch at restaurants in Peru, most of the places you for lunch have a set menu. But it is always hot and fresh, and usually reasonably priced! Sometimes it's nice to be surprised by the entree ;) The food is touch and go. Some days I LOVE what she makes, and some days it is a bit more average. I highly recommend checking out this place at least once while you are in cusco! Its pretty authentic.

Pros: Cheap, Friendly Owner, Food is ALWAYS fresh!

Cons: Busy, not always a place to sit, Only one option

very cheap but good vegetarian/vegan food

If you want an honest to goodness vegetarian/vegan food without the fancy trimmings you will find in the expensive vegetarian restos in Cusco, then head to Govinda Lila's vegetarian restaurant. It is a corner stall in the Mercado San Blas. For 6 soles you will get a hot drink, a big bowl of soup and a plate full of rice with vegetarian side dish. Nothing beats it.

Pros: very cheap, clean- the stall has running water

Cons: located in a market so don't expect fancy decorati

Amazing- Best Vegan Food in Peru

This place is unbeatable. Such amazing food, for such an awesome price!
Luckily the day we visited everything was vegan. A soup, main and tea for 6 soles! Crazy cheap!
Very easy to find and a great place to sit and watch the locals at the various other food counters.
The owner was wonderful, very friendly and made the whole experience even better- if that is even possible.
Can't wait to visit again!!!!

Pros: Delicious, Cheap as chips, Friendly & welcoming owner

Cons: None!

A real hidden gem!

This place wasn't so much a restaurant as a small stall tucked in one corner of San Blas market. The setting was really basic: a few tables and chairs and that was it. Probably 10 seats max. But don't get deterred by that, the food and value made up for it.

The owner was a very nice lady who also did all the cooking. For 6 soles you get a soup, a drink, and a main plate. The day I went she had a gingery sweet potato soup, a passion fruit drink, and some kind of veggie patty in a red sauce topped with some stewed grain with a side of brown rice. Everything was homecooked and delicious. The patty had such great texture and flavor; the stewed grain was also good and very interesting. Never had anything like that. I tried to ask her what it exactly was but got lost in translation. Too bad it was already our last day in the city, otherwise I would've eaten here more than once for sure.

Pros: incredible value, great food, friendly owner

My favourite place in Cusco :)

I love this place - the food tastes great and seems like it's made much more healthfully than other places (no MSG, little or no oil), and it's 5 soles for a big meal. The soup is always delicious, as is the main which includes rice (you can get brown for an extra 2 soles), some kind of bean, some cooked vegetables and some raw vegetables. Perfect meal! The only downside is that it was a bit too much for me but tasted so good I always wanted to finish it. Lila is the sweetest, and although you sometimes have to squish in on the bench to fit, it's totally worth it for the fantastic lunch. I would eat here every day :)

Pros: delicious healthy food, really sweet owner, amazing value

Cons: small, and usually busy, hard to find, not open Sundays

good food

i am vegan and i went there for my first lunch in cuzco. i had the mixed salad and the veggie meat my husband took milaneza and we were very satisfied the food was tasteful and good and since they did not have a vegan dessert we asked for fried banana with honey and the result was very good. the very good price topped our positive experience

Pros: good food, good honest price

Cons: no vegan dessert, modest setting
