Best Vegan Burrito Hands Down - Edit
The Vegan menu is loaded with so many delicious options.
Read moreI had the California Burrito and it was off the chain. Flavor,Ingredients, & Texture worth 10 ⭐️’s
Service was a welcoming vibe vegan to vegan.
Only thing now is to figure out how to export their food to the states 😀
FYI
When you walk into the restaurant they’re located in the back left corner with a different counter to place an order with a seating area as well.
The North Shore has a hidden gem here for sure.

My girlfriend said it was the best food she had on the island (so far) - Edit
Vegan friendly establishment, to the left is Gordos and the right inside is another restaurant that sells teas, pizzas, etc.
Read moreGordos gives quite the quantity for its price, and quality too. I’m a big eater and I was stuck in my tracks with how much there was. My girlfriend told me it was the best food she’s had on the island so far. Its one of a kind on the island and deserves much more praise!
Pros: Taste, Quantity (options/amount of food on plate)

Large vegan menu - Edit
The vegan menu is green, and just as big as the other menu! The vegan menu also had a few choices of different proteins. Also probably the biggest burrito I have ever gotten!

vegan burritos as good as the Mission - Edit
Somewhat hidden from view (the only signage I saw outside was a sandwich board painted in the colors of Mexico’s flag saying “Mexican”) Gordo’s (or is it Gordos?) serves excellent vegan fare off a full 6-page vegetarian menu. Most patrons appear to order takeout at the counter. We opted to sit and eat in the cool, informal dining room, cheerfully decorated with papel picado and paintings of Mexican / Hawaiian scenes.
Read moreVegans have three distinct soy protein choices: asada, carnitas, and tofu crumbles. My tofu asada burrito was very convincing in flavor and texture. I would’ve thought I’d received the wrong order (meat) if the cook hadn’t said it was vegan asada when she brought it. The burritos were delicious and satisfying, filled with choice of protein, beans, rice, cabbage and pico de gallo. I highly recommend the mango agua fresca, which was just the right sweetness and totally refreshing. My husband had a vegan horchata made with coconut milk which was also tasty and perfectly spiced with a touch of cinnamon.
We thoroughly enjoyed our vegan burritos at Gordo’s. It was as good as what we’d get in the Mission district in San Francisco.

The BEST vegan food on da island!! - Edit
This deserves 5 stars, but the app will only let me do 4 because they also serve non vegan food. This place is the best, the family that runs it is lovely, the portions are great, prices are perfect, and the food is seriously out of this world. 10/10 HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Fantastic Mexican food - Edit
Me and my fiancé were very excited to find a vegan Mexican restaurant! The menu is fantastic but we both ordered an asada burrito, with Nachos and vegan protein (mock meat) to share.

We both said how refreshing it was to have Nachos that weren't just Crisps and salsa. The Nachos had tonnes of cheese sauce, fresh salsa, delicious vegan protein and a drizzle of sour cream.
My fiancè said this was his favourite meal so far. Such a reasonable price and staff were lovely too!
Pros: Great price , Fantastic portion , Delicious food

Mouthwatering - Edit
Favorite items: Vegan Asada meat with the vegan carnita meat being a close second for any food items. Favorite dishes are the nachos and wet burritos. All of the meat and cheeses seem to be homemade and are very impressive!
Read moreAtmosphere: Great music, very colorful
Every visit has been amazing. We stop here at least once a month because of cravings for these dishes. The inside is super cute and the outdoor seating isn’t too bad either. It is a shared space with a couple other businesses so be ready for that when you walk in. Sometimes the sign will say closed when really that’s just for the different place.

The veg cheese here is great, perfect nacho consistency. Not sure what their asada is made out of but that was awesome as well! I do wish there was a guacamole/avo option to add to the nachos, it would’ve made them 10 times better. Good prices! #Veganuary

The food here is great. Selection is really good, and there are rotating options. The smoothies next door are super, and they are worth the mackin high sticker price. The pizza from the other vendor is a NO go for our family.

Love this place! Moving to Oahu from San Diego, I was craving taco shop 24/7. There's a few places around the island where you can get bean burritos...but Gordo's is the only one I've found with true meat alts. And they're fantastic!!

I couldn't stop doing a little happy dance while eating the vegan street tacos. I tried the mojado burrito and nachos as well and loved them too! This is a must stop if you live on or are visiting Oahu. We were there Nov 2021 and there are tables and seating out front.

MUST VISIT - Edit
If vegan food tourism is your thing, your visit to Oahu is incomplete without eating at Gordos. This is not a meat restaurant that serves vegan food, rather it’s vice versa: This place totally caters to vegans up front. We had two dishes: the giant taco salad had soy curl carnitas that were packed with flavor and deliciously layered over a bed of refried beans, with some delicious vegan ranch. And the asadas fries were equally delicious, with a great chipotle salsa. Both had heaping helpings.

Outstanding vegan Mexican food - Edit
The search for great vegan Mexican food on the North Shore is over! Not only is Gordo’s food filled with wonderful Mexican flavors, but they have a full (separate) vegan menu. Their vegan carne asada is ridiculously good, as were their vegan birria tacos and vegan horchata. We’ll definitely be back to this hidden gem to enjoy their absolutely amazing flavors. Gourmet level Mexican food at a reasonable price.

Gordo's Mexican Food is located in Waialua at the historic Koga Theater building. The gray and salmon colored building has a fun, hippie vibe and is next to the Paalaa Kai Bakery. Parking is limited, but you can park across the street. You will enter though the North Shore Coffee Bar and head to the back left.
Read moreI placed an order online via their online ordering app and selected my pick up time. I recommend ordering online as there is a specific vegan menu and customizations available. Once I figured out how to get to them from the location inside, I was greeted by the owner. She is very sweet and welcoming. She and her chef husband are both vegan.
I ordered a variety of dishes to share with my family : REGULAR BURRITO $12.00 Served with choice of "Asada", Tofu Taco Crumble, or "Carnitas" Rice, Beans, & Pico de Gallo, REGULAR NACHO $8.00 Queso topped with Jalapenos, MOJADO BURRITO (WET) $14.00 Smothered in choice of Red or Green Sauce with Meat, Rice, Beans, & Pico de Gallo, CHIPOTLE PLATE $15.00 Peppers, Onions, and Mushrooms in a Creamy Sweet and Spicy Chipotle Sauce. Served with Rice, Beans and Flour or Corn Tortillas, VEGAN MEAT FRIES $12.00
Everything was amazing, full of flavor. My family loved the food. Great portions.
They also offer Hawaiian Licks (Plant-based vegan nice-cream made on the Big Island of Hawai'i) - available in a grab and go freezer that I can't wait to pick up a few pints next time I visit. I will also try their Vegan Horchata.
This is a great stop while on your North Shore adventures.
