Go Pal - Edit

Small simple restaurant - Edit

The menu is simple : small vegan tacos (10 different kinds) for 15 pesos each or a burger at 40 pesos. The tacos were good and varied, the girl was nice and the service very fast. The restaurant is small and simple. They have a shop as well.

Pros: Tasty, cheap, fast

Cons: The menu is not varied

Great tiny tacos - Edit

I went around 7pm. They had 10 different tacos for 12 pesos each, and veggie burgers (I think vegan) for 35. I believe this is served M-F, 6-10. The menu just lists the names of the tacos, so I asked the waiter to help me pick 4 vegan tacos (mostly fake meats) that were all fantastic. Service was good, it's small and casual. We spoke Spanish (me not so well). Location is accurate/easy to find.

Cheap and Full meal - Edit

Although you can't choose what you want and it's a set menu, the food was good and included lots of vegetables including the salad and soup. Vegans just need to say "vegano" and they understand just fine.

Cheap tasty tacos - Edit

I've eaten here several times and always enjoyed it. They seem to do the fixed menu on weekends and 12 peso tacos on weeknights with several vegan options and plenty of salsas. The staff is always very friendly.

Pros: Cheap, Tasty

Great value for money - Edit

Excellent five course meal starting with a fresh fruit plate or salad, soup, bread, plate with a small portion of brown rice, vegetables with tofu and another vegetable dish (we got a slicked pumping layered with fresh grated cheese and slightly fried with a freshly made tomato purée) and a dessert. A must visit for those who want to detox after excessive indulgence.

Pros: Cheap, Great food, Courteous service

Cons: Bus ride to Walmart can be long sometime

Teeny store inside saved our trip - Edit

We happened across this restaurant while walking by. So we didn't eat here. But they have a teeny tiny store in the front of the building that offers some staples that you can bring back to your hotel to help prepare your own food. (We had a kitchen so we could make our own grub.)

We bought brown rice, veggie broth powder, frozen veggie burgers, and dehydrated vegetarian chorizo and burger crumbles which helped to keep our meals interesting when combined with local veggies.

The girl who was working was SOOOO sweet and SOOOOO nice and was so helpful as she tried (successfully!) to speak English and help us out and answer questions for us. We wish we had time to go back to eat there as well to check out their food, which as it was walked by on the way to the diners looked like homemade deliciousness.

Delicious veg food at Gopal - Edit

Whether you are a vegan, a lacto-vegetarian or not, you will love Gopal and its flavours. I have visited Gopal's a couple of weeks ago on my honeymoon with my husband. Gopal is a small and cozy restaurant with a lot of positive vibrations. I was impressed by their dishes, which are simple and absolutely delicious. You can have a nice pizza, a lovely spaghetty dish, amazing Mexican food and wonderful desserts. Gopal also has fresh juices, I had a juice called 'nectar' that it was a mix of lime and guava. I abs adored it!At Gopal you can buy a wide range of vegetarian adn vegan products as free meat and free fish products (veg hotdogs, veg burgers, veg sausages, etc).
The restaurant is clean and tidy. The customer service you will find will make you feel at home.

Gopal's is very close to Walmart supermarket. Many buses that come from the hotel zone go straight to Gopal's.It's in Cancun's downtown.

Nice lunch at Gopal's - Edit

My family and I had a very nice lunch at Gopals this week (June 2011). It took us about 30 minutes to find the place, going on the previous review's 'across from wal-mart' description, and the fact that not many people in the neighborhood know where it is, so it's a good idea to know where you're going beforehand. All's well that ends well, though, and we had a lovely time. Out-of-towners don't have to worry - even though it doesn't seem like your typical tourist spot (hooray!), the water and produce were totally purified and disinfected. It was our waiter's first day working, but we had a wonderful time talking with him. His English was excellent, and he was incredibly kind and conscientious. The menu changes a bit every day, but we had a great starter salad (jicama, carrots, beets, lettuce, etc), delicious soup, whole-grain bread with good sauce, and a tofu-pumpkin entree with a local mexican vegetable on the side. Also, a healthy, not-too-sweet apple dessert. Purified mango/guayaba water too. We all left feeling very refreshed at at peace. If you're looking for luxury, go somewhere else, but if you want an honest, healthy meal, check it out! We'd definitely go back. It's also quite convenient if you need to go into town to pick up some things from the store. Accessible by public bus too. Recommended, for sure.

Pros: healthy food, conscientious staff, inexpensive

Cons: a bit tricky to find, no air conditioning (but fans work fine)

Very good food - Edit

Very very good food. It is a very small restaurant ( not a fancy place) located very close to walmart in cancun. They do a four course meal and the menu is fixed. I think the menu changes every day. We went there twice and they served completely different dishes.
They start off with a fruit drink ( water melon juice one day and honey dew melon the other day). Salads or fruits is the first course. Soup and bread for the second course... Main course and finally dessert. Every thing was very tasty. fresh and hot.

If you are staying in the hotel zone, "R2" bus will take you to walmart. This place is right next to where the bus drops you off ( walmart stop). very conveninent. There is a small sign.. if you don't look for it you will miss it.

Pros: great food, fresh, cheap
