Pleasantly surprised

Looking at their menu online i was a bit hesitant as it didn’t seem like they had much variety, but upon arrival they had a whole specials board which was great. This was an excellent place for our family of half vegan half non vegan, everyone enjoyed their meal! The seating inside was super cozy, the aroma and overall vibe were on point, we will be returning the next time we’re in cape May.

Pros: Ambiance , Variety of options

Cons: Pricier but normal for the area

Good vibe, food meh

We arrived without a reservation and asked to sit outside, the fish smell inside was not our thing. The patrons were mostly older and sophisticated. We are more casual, we were happy to sit outside. The staff were nice and service was fast. I didn’t like the pesto pasta at all, it looks nice for a photo but didn’t taste good. I left wishing I had eaten a bagel instead of coming, which is sad obviously. Omni spouse liked his salmon. The root beer float had a weird ice cream, it just tasted like cashew to me not vanilla. We won’t go again.

A Unique Find

Cape May has an exceptional culinary scene. Good Earth helps to continue that trend. With great healthy food options for all diets, this eatery should get more attention from vegan and non-vegan visitors.

The Sunflower seed pesto was fresh and tangy, paired perfectly with the al dente Gluten Free Brown Rice Pasta: The pasta intensified the healthiness of the dish.

The service was efficient and attentive. I ate with a large party, but they had no trouble accommodating us last minute. I would recommend making a reservation. The dining room is small and could fill up fast.

Try Good Earth next time you're in Cape May for a healthier culinary experience.

Pros: Healthy

Cons: Location

Our favorite place to eat in Cape May

Always a treat to come here, usually to celebrate my birthday each year. Not sure why some gave just ok reviews. The food here is amazingly delicious, healthy, whole food, not processed. I always get the Veggie Mixed Plate which is a surprise of- the soup of the day, veggie of the day, sauteed beans of the day and a grain. You never know what you're going to get but typically it's a quinoa or risotto, saucy stewed kidney beans, in season veggies and a lentil or veggie soup. Their curry is amazingly flavorful, the pesto is phenomenal, the caesar salad divine, and they usually have a fruit cobbler which is also simple and healthy. Every time I eat here I say I wish someone would come to my house and cook this food for me every day. If you're looking for a vegan fried chicken sandwich or a veggie burger, this is not your place. This is whole food plant based at it's best. My only dilemma is to get here often enough throughout the year.

Pros: Healthy delicious options, Super cute vibe inside and outside, lovely owners

Crab cakes and cauliflower steaks were only ok

Cauliflower soup was excellent.

Better option on Cape May for vegans

It’s ok

I was really excited to try their vegan food & I found them to be simply ok. We did takeout so perhaps that’s why? Everything seemed really plain & reminded me food I’d get at a concert or festival. I also found the prices to be steep for what we got. It wasn’t horrible, but not great. Fine if you’re in a pinch or don’t feel like cooking.

Pros: Vegan options

Cons: Expensive , Bland

Best in Cape May, NJ

We used DoorDash or UberEats (can't remember which) to order from Good Earth Organic Eatery. Ordering was easy, as was finding vegan options. They have a vegan section on their menu and all veg options are clearly marked.

We had a vegan cheddar/potato soup, a vegan crab cake which comes on a bed of greens with a yummy dipping sauce, the pesto penne pasta, and the vegan caesar salad. Everything was delicious and we had some leftovers, which heated up well the next day.

There aren't many easily accessible/affordable/good vegan options in Cape May, in my opinion, as I thought there would be. This place was our favorite during our trip and I highly recommend you try them if visiting the area.

Pros: Lots of vegan option, Online ordering and delivery, Veg options clearly marked on menu

Average

Appetizers were great and entrees were not good. Service and chef were unaccommodating and unwilling to make a substitution for a side vegetable. The couple next to us also asked if they could just not have a diff of potatoes and they were unwilling to take it out! I was shocked since it isn't cooked into the dish.

Pros: Salad was delicious , Butternut squash soup was great, Various vegan desserts

Cons: Cauliflower steak, Unaccommodating staff, Price

Don't Let the Strip Mall Fool You

This place is amazing! The chef, Contrano manages to give simple dishes out-of-this-world flavor. We have been coming since 2013 and love coming back. We miss the old lunch menu favorites, like the mixed vegetable dish and the pesto sandwich. However, there were two new great lunch choices: the vegan meatballs in Bolonese sauce and the wild rice asparagus risotto. They also always have an excellent selection of Kombucha. As other reviewers have said, this is not fast food but food to savor.

Pros: Friendly staff, Healthy options

amazing food

Everyone's food was fantastic. The pesto was delicious. I sampled the hummus, veggie plate, soup and salad and all was excellent. I would say to make sure you give yourself a good amount of time, especially with a large group because it looked like all the food was made fresh to order.

Everything on the menu was vegan, except for the fish dishes, which was a little disappointing because without the fish it would be an easy 5 stars

A lovely Friday night dinner with a vegan Mac & Cheese with a vegan Cesar salad for me and the seafood risotto for my partner. We ate outside at the dining space at the south end of the building. The food was delicious and hit the spot.

A veggie respite down the shore

Very nice home style restaurant down the Jersey shore. Vegan options are well marked. We dined here during the summer of COVID, so only outdoor seating was available. We sat in the back, at a picnic table. Towards the end of the meal it got very dark and we were eaten alive by bugs. We ordered the flatbread and small plate of sunflower seed pesto pasta for appetizers. The flatbread was very good. I don’t think I’ve ever had vegan cheese like the cheese used on the bread. Very creamy and tasty. My husband and I agree that the best part of the meal was the pesto pasta.

For an entree, I had the Thai peanut noodle. The noodles were made of black beans. It was quite gingery and very interesting. My three year old loved the noodles. My husband ordered the stewed seitan, which was maybe slightly salty but otherwise very good.

We also ordered the iced hojicha and the fudgy brownie cake. The iced hojicha tasted like it was made from bags and not from loose leaves. It was fine. We didn’t realize the cake was raw, but it was also good (and I don’t normally like raw food, generally).

Overall, I would say that this restaurant was a nice change of pace from the junky boardwalk food we have been eating the past couple of days. The vegetables were fresh (they’re sourced from local farms) and well prepared. Everything was made in-house, which is very impressive. The food is quite pricey for what it is, and the service is a bit slow. The restaurant is not in the same league as some vegan restaurants in NYC, for example, but if you are in town and can afford it, it’s definitely worth a visit.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Food is interesting and well prepared, Vegan items well marked

Cons: Pricey, Slow service

Cape May GEM!

Wow! Highly recommend this place! Broccoli purée, split pea, and watermelon gazpacho soups, buffalo style cauliflower bites, Thai peanut noodles and vegan lasagna..... amazing. We were too full to try the coconut cashew “cheese”cake. Next time 😋

Pros: Unique options I wouldn’t make at home, Opportunity to try traditional foods made vegan , Great staff, were very knowledgeable about menu

Cons: Small, crowded

Hidden gem restaurant

Flavorful and super healthy! Good Earth really serves up tasty homemade food--ALL homemade!-- for a really fair price.
Honestly the best food we've had yet in Cape May because we didn't leave feeling robbed and/or physically sick. Unless you order fish, everything else on the menu is totally vegan, plus has GF options for most stuff. The complimentary salads (with every meal) was truly freshly picked and seasoned with a small amount of dressing and sesame seeds. This place is perfect if you care about eating quality organic fresh fairly priced food. Our entire meal, 3 generous lunches and a large shared dessert, was $50 before tip. Easy parking right out front.

Pros: Majority locally grown & vegan, Very flavorful and healthy , Fair priced for organic, freshly made

Lovely & Unique Food!

I had the pesto sandwich, and mom had the mushroom risotto! For dessert we split the fudge brownie cake with house made vanilla gelato! Loved everything and will hopefully be coming back soon. I also did not notice the fish smell that others mentioned, however all vegan food and fish is a strange combo (perhaps to appease the meat eating friends and family of us veggie lovers!).

Pros: Helpful Staff, Yummy Food, Lots of Options

Really yummy food, lovely staff!

We had the cold beet soup (like borscht), and it was divine. There were chunks of cold cucumber, dill & cashew cream. The pureed cauliflower soup was good, but nothing special. The buffalo cauliflower bites were great, with a milder hot sauce for dipping. We split the "crab"cake sandwich with sweet potato fries and the vegan caesar salad, which were quite good, although the fries seemed to be baked—healthier for sure, but a little disappointing. We were so full we had to get dessert to go, and we were glad we did! We chose the fudgy brownie cake with date-hazelnut crust. It was really amazing! Our server was super friendly and helpful, and the owner was delightful. We were very happy with this vacation choice!

Pros: Many vegan options., Great staff., Excellent desserts.

Cons: Cash only (ATM on premises).

New Cape May Favorite

Being Pescaterians, who are gluten and dairy free, my husband and are were overwhelmed with choices. Everything is fresh, well prepared, flavorful and served nicely presented. Strict vegans would have plenty of choices too. In Season you should definitely make reservations, it's small. The owner said generally they open in March and close in November.

Healthy, homemade

Obviously wish they didn’t serve fish, but I actually didn’t notice the smell that other people are mentioning. Their food is fresh and healthy — sometimes could use a little extra seasoning though. Loved their coffee — it’s very different and tasty! Nice server.

Yah, the smell actually isn't fish. But it is strong. And consistent. It's spices.
