Golden Buddha - Edit

Had the sweet and sour chicken nuggets, which were dry, but uninteresting red sauce. Also the stuffed vegetable bread, which was set as well. The tofu with vegetables was great along with brown rice.

Cons: Service was nice

Tasty Veg Fare In The Richmond - Edit

If you have been to Golden Lotus or especially Golden Era you know what to expect (they have almost the exact same menu as Golden Era). Good Vietnamese and Chinese food at a reasonable price. Almost everything on the menu is good except for a few misses. I like the Buddha Bun (or "Steamed Vege Bun" or whatever they are calling it these days) and the Vegetable Fu Young as far as appetizers go. I love the Vietnamese Sweet and Sour Soup and the Wonton Soup is decent as well. The Pho is good for a cheap one dish meal... The entrees can be a little soy heavy,(they even put soy meat in the Stir Fry Mixed Vegetables for Chrissake) but most are pretty tasty. I would recommend AVOIDING: the "specials" menu, the Tay Ho rolls(appetizer), the Seaweed Soup, the Indian Rice and the Curry Vegetables. Lastly a word on the "fish" dishes: many people dislike them, but a few people I know love them (they don't taste like fish just more processed soy) Oh and the Shrimp is not vegan (eww!).

Pros: Good food, esp. appetizers and soup. , Good prices/large portions, Soytastic!

Cons: Service is 50/50., A few menu misses., soytastic.

Inconsistent vegetarian food - Edit

The food here is inconsistent and going down hill. The crepes (banh xeo) was terrible, too much of everything and not cooked at the right temperature. String bean stirfy was undercooked, leaving it hard. House special rice clay pot was inconsistent. Sometime I taste old tofu being used for this dish. The place sometimes smell bad as well. I recommend Golden Era, Tao Cafe, Doobu Tofu House, Udupi for vegetarian and vegan fares.

Okay Buddha - Edit

My family has been to this restaurant twice. First time it exceeded our expectations with excellent food quality albeit too much gluten/meat-like substance. Wonton Noodle was very good and so was the drumstick appetizer. Fried chow mien and chow fun were excellent. Fried banana ice cream desert. And we went for the second time yesterday night. Unfortunately the food was so so. Chow fun was very ordinary the second time around. Special asparagus soup was not served hot. 'popular' chicken dish was surprising as to how it could have become popular. Service is not something to write home about as we found the reception and overall service was lukewarm. There are better veggie/vegan restaurants around. Not planning to visit again.
