Fantastic breakfast

Came in with lofty expectations for a late breakfast and was not disappointed! Got the breakfast burrito with both the hemp "sausage" and mushroom "bacon". Both are great, would recommend the bacon over the sausage if forced to choose just one. Definitely going to try to come back again during my short visit here.

Pros: Lots of options for any time of day, Local products (one love kombucha)

Cons: Bordering expensive

One of the best vegan foods I have tried

That was outstanding. I had their grit bowl, which was spectacular. Clean bright space and great service. Even coffee was exceptional

Pros: Delicious options

Cons: Beverages seem to be a bit expensive

Cute cafe with lots of yummies... I just crave it sometimes! I am obsessed with their pastries especially the cinnamon roll. Their pancakes are gluten free and melt-in-your mouth. My favorite thing I ever got there was a special: the cowboy burger. This needs to be a staple on the menu. The regular burger is good after tasting the cowboy burger it was lackluster. The grit bowl is amazing too. Great coffee too with different milk options.

Pros: Gluten free options, Decent variety , Breakfast and lunch all day

Cons: Some items seem overpriced: esp bagel toppings , great burger patty but rest needs more flavor, Small: limited seating

Breakfast burrito: A perfect meal

I ordered a breakfast burrito with portobello “bacon” to go. I ate it for lunch in my car during a very long road trip. It was perfect and so easy to eat in a car while driving.

Pros: Friendly service , Very clean , Wholistic place

Amazing

Being vegan, I tend to eat way too much at vegan establishments. It’s not often I can order anything on the menu, without asking a bunch of questions and often making modifications to menu items. That said, everything I had was amazing. Hemp sausage on a biscuit with pepper jelly? Awesome. Tempeh Reuben. Delicious. Friend seitan sandwich and Mac and cheese? Simply perfect. I should also mention that I went twice during my stay, otherwise you think I’d entirely overeaten during one visit. But at Gnome, it’s certainly easy to! Highly recommended!!

Pros: All vegan , Comfort food, Friend seitan!

Cons: Limited seating

Cons: expensive

FABULOUS!

Gnome is the only "fully vegan" restaurant in Charleston, at least the only one our searches on Happy Cow and TA turned up during our 5 day visit. It's also the only restaurant to which we returned, TWICE! REALLY great food and it's nice to be able to try some southern food with a vegan twist.

On our first visit, hubby ordered the Reuben sandwich and I had the "Tuna" Salad. Both were delicious. Definitely try the side order of brussels sprouts. AMAZING!

We had breakfast for lunch on our second visit with a tofu scramble burrito and the Cheesy southern grits. Both were scrumptious.

One orders at the counter and they deliver the food to your table. It's a very small place.

Pros: breakfast all day, great lunch menu, serves beer & wine

Cons: a little out of the way but worth the walk!

Go here!

If you want southern vegan food: go here! I had the hemp sausage biscuit and it was incredible! The biscuit was super buttery and the texture of the hemp sausage was spot on! They also have muffins, cookies, grits, etc. Lots to choose from. Incredibly friendly staff too!

Pros: Amazing food, Reasonable pricing, Very friendly staff

Excellent

I stopped here while on a business trip in Charleston, and the food was absolutely delicious! The cafe itself was small, but cozy, with music playing and families enjoying themselves. The staff was very accommodating. Their food is healthy, but modern - for example, I had a portabella BLT and a lentil taco salad. Amazing! Would recommend.

Pros: Great food, Friendly vibe/cute cafe, Very accommodating

Cons: On a busy road, Doesn't usually deliver, A little pricey

We so much enjoyed our breakfasts of cappuccinos, pancakes, bagels, southern grit bowl and a burrito that we ordered lunch to go. We got the sausage biscuit, tempeh Reuben and a BLT. We loved everything!!

Pros: Everything is vegan!, The staff is cheerful, enthusiastic and helpful , The prices are more than reasonable.

Cons: I wish they were open more hours

Great place

We had excellent lunch in this place which included burrito, taco salad and french fries. We both loved it and let me say that my husband is not vegan or even vegetarian. Food was very fresh and tasty. The only con was that place is located kind of in the middle of nowhere and is very small. Despite that fact, it was extremely busy on Sunday, lots of people waiting for table. This is amazing how busy this place was for its location. I wish they expand closer to main attractions areas.

Worth a visit!!

We recently spent a long weekend in Charleston & ate at gnome cafe twice. Once for lunch, and the next day for breakfast.

Coffee is excellent!

Veggie burger & Mac and cheese were really good. Excellent vegan Mac!! Veggie burger a little crumbly but very tasty!!

Standard tofu breakfast burrito but still tasty.

Would visit again.

Pros: Delicious, Fast & friendly service, Really good coffee

Cons: $10 sandwich should include a side

Delicious x100

Super popular place, crowded but not in an awful way. Steady stream of folks coming in for take out. Got the special which was a BLT w/Avocado. Portobello mushroom bacon was wicked good. Came with hand cut real fries --> seems weird to say real, however in this day and age when sometimes the fries are an amalgamation of potato and other stuff, these stood out. Just potatoes! And, to top off the awesomeness, got a sticky bun. To die for. Period. Loved this place. Glad I don't live near the sticky buns or I'd be a fat vegan!

Pros: All vegan., Staff was super friendly and helpful

Cons: A bit pricey. , Tables fill up quickly during busy times.

repeat customer

What an excellent little cafe! We shared one breakfast (cinnamon pancakes) and one lunch (veggie burger) and a few extras thrown in and every single bite was delicious. We'll be regulars from now on.

- just adding to previous reviews. This place is the best! Another absolutely delicious meal 😋

Pros: portabella bacon is dangerously good

Amazing food, cute space.

We would come back for the brussel sprouts alone! I don't know what those bad boys are cooked in, but I could make a meal of them. The buffalo seitan sandwich was SO good! The vegan Mac and cheese didn't look pretty, but tasted great! Everything was plant-based and delicious! If you get a chance, definitely eat here!

Pros: 100% plant based

Cons: A little pricey.

hip place with completely plant-based menu

unfortunately, i didn't have that much opportunity to try much from the menu. we only went there in the afternoon and had pancake, coffee and a cookie. there's better coffee in charleston, but the food was great.

Pros: lots of options for vegans

Cons: coffee could be better

Sooooo happy to find Vegan in Charleston!

Super friendly dude staff and a big diverse menu to pick from! Can’t tell you how great it is to find tempeh and seitan in the land of fried chicken.

Tempeh Rueben was as it should be - poet gooey good! Would be even better with a side salad but I’ll take it!
