Izakaya sold as a restaurant at the time - Edit
Before you read :
Read moreThis is an Izakaya style place, they are expensive and have the following :
- Mandatory drinks for everyone seating
- Seating fee of 550¥ (advertised on the menu with a tofu salad that we didn't have)
Upon arrival, we were told as the place was packed, that there would be a 30 minutes waiting time, which we agreed on and settled in the genkan and looked at the menu.
We waited a whole 1 hour to be seated, but even this could happen so whatever.
The place had a table that was the owner's family seeing their interaction and they were so loud, children running and shouting, it was not a good time.
Then came the food, the mandatory drinks that were okay, the started with very limited portions for the price but still good. Then the specialty, we of course ordered the vegan one but the flavor was way too one dimensional. It was basically bamboo shoots, mushrooms and rice in a steamer. So that's good for the first half of the plate but after it gets old really fast and that's a shame.
But really what desolated me the most was the lady that was serving us, she kept interrupting us to tell us to try this and that on the menu and inciting us to buy more. That's not a good attitude in my book.
In the end, we had a mediocre time because of that and the food was not good enough to outweigh that. Shame as it is a cute place...
Pros: Tasty starters, Cute joint
Cons: Awkward staff, Forcing to buy more, Mediocre specialty

Vegan Kamameshi & Gyoza & Spring Rolls - Edit
We tried three different kinds of vegan kamameshi, which were all delicious and we were very satisfied to be able to eat authentic Japanese kamameshi. We also had vegan gyoza, vegan spring rolls, organic french fries, and other dishes that filled us up. The staff at the restaurant are well educated about veganism, so we were able to dine without worry.
