How great is that?! And he literally knew our limits! Funny, helpful and thoughtful!
Food:
I could have chosen The Vegan Burger, A Soup, the avocado sandwich or a few other vegan options but decided to go with our waiters recommendations: We (three people) took the vegan Platter with tapas and for my main meal the vegan aubergine casserole (mildly spicy and delicious). Finished off with the delicious vegan chocolate mousse!
Atmosphere & interior design:
It is all in all a lovely place to go to and spend your time. The moment I walked in the door I noticed the difference; usually you have to look for the waiter and ask about your reservation; at ginkgos you walk in and there are plates on the tables with the persons names that reserved. Therefor you can immediately find your spot and it gives a personal touch! Musik was relaxing and the restaurant very spacious!

Delicious chocolate mousse - Edit
We came here for drinks and I saw the (clearly labeled) vegan chocolate mousse on the menu and had to get it. It was wonderfully creamy - a little expensive (8 euros) but the portion size was pretty generous.

Gingko is a good choice whenever you are with meat/dairy/… eaters as the menu offers something for everyone. Vegan regular options include tapas, a burger, a chickpea curry, and an eggplant-lentil-casserole. Also, the weekly menu always has at least one vegan choice, and one dessert is also plant-based, same holds true for some of their cakes. Especially in spring/summer, it is really nice to sit outside. Staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Compared to other venues in Frankfurt, prices are more than fair! Today, I had the eggplant-lentil-casserole. It came with a side salad and was really tasty (and a huge portion!).

Alright food in nice setting - Edit
They had around 4-5 vegan options (burger, curry, salad, stuffed zucchini) which sounded alright. I got the chickpea curry which was tasty but nothing too special and we also got the vegan burger which seemed but but a little simple. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere though and the vegetarian options seemed a lot better (e.g. spinach lasagna)

Einfach nur unterirdisch. Ich habe mehrfach versucht einen Tisch für eine Familienfeier ( 9 Personen) zu reservieren und jedesmal war das nicht möglich.... unabhängig vom Wochentag. Sehr schade :((

Much more than just vegan-friendly - Edit
They always have a vegan option on the seasonal menu, plus a big salad and a vegan mezze plate, plus the best vegan burger ever (extremely savory/umami without being too „meaty“). To me, it’s important if the vegan options can stand up to the rest of the menu in terms of quality and creativity (as at Gingko’s) or if it’s just what some omni cook thinks of as typical vegan food or (which is a little bit better) what is a staple dish that is vegan anyway (some curry, a salad, penne arrabiata). My omni friends often order the vegan option just because they think it’s the best offer on this day. You have to see that it’s not „*only* two or three vegan options“ as their menu is very small. There is one review in German saying that this place has deserved five stars in our hearts - I couldn’t put it better.

They still offered breakfast when we went there at 12.30pm, we tried the avo sandwhich and one of their vegan breakfast. Both delicious and fresh. Good for vegans, vegetarians and non vegan all together. Unfortunately they run out of vegan pancakes and everything was a bit pricey.

Ginkgo is a very nice place to go for vegans - when I visited their menu had a vegan soup on it, an antipasti platter, 3 different vegan mains and a dessert. The servings were quite large and everything tasted delicious. Also the green tea I had with my dinner was exceptionally good; from large cut leaves and not just from a cheap tea bag (it is unfortunately quite common to get not-so-nice tea in many restaurants in Germany)

Read moreIm Ginkgo läuft es einfach für vegan lebende Menschen, hier ist man nicht die wenigen, zwangsweise eingeführten Gerichte der Karte, sondern bekommt den Eindruck, dass es fast schon anders herum läuft und man Omnivoren noch toleriert ;-)
Aufgrund der tollen Auswahl auf der Karte (auch bei Aktionen außerhalb der festen Karte), der guten, veganen Kuchenauswahl, der zwei veganen Milchsorten für den hervorragenden Kaffee würde ich diesem Ort als bisher einzigem "Omni"-Ort in Frankfurt 5 Sterne geben.
Für "veggie-freundliche" Plätze sind vier Sterne das Maximum bei HappyCow. Einen habt ihr bei perönlich gut!
Die veganen Gerichte sind mit Liebe gemacht und halten in Qualität und Geschmack jedem Vergleich stand.
Macht weiter so, es ist nur noch ein kleiner Schritt in die richtige Richtung!

The food is appealingly garnished, plenty and tasty.
Usually it's a lively atmosphere, especially on weekend mornings. Possibly you will wait for your breakfast up to an hour, but the nice staff will inform you about the waiting time and meanwhile, you can enjoy your coffee, fresh ginger mint tea or fresh orange juice or whatever as well as the atmosphere of the "Berger Strasse".
They offer various vegan breakfasts (e.g. 2 bread rolls, avocado, chickpea-spread, beetroot-spread, homemade jam, soy-joghurt with fresh fruit).
In the afternoon, you can choose between several wonderful cakes, often still warm from the oven.
I especially love sitting outside in spring or summer : )
Although it's a non-vegetarian restaurant, Ginkgo is a great place for vegans.
It offers more vegan meals than some vegetarian places & vegan dishes are clearly labelled (the staff knows what's vegan too).
Pros: Tasty food, rich in variety, vegan dishes clearly labelled, friendly staff
