Best vegan tacos, possibly best lunch I've had ever! - Edit
This place looks very modest on the side of the road in a remote area, and the big island didn't have many vegan (and also gluten free) options that I could find, so I was very pleasantly surprised by what I got! The grilled marinated tofu tacos and the vegan purple potato salad were exquisite. I wish we had time to go there again before coming back home but if I'm on the big island again, I plan to go back. The patio and people were charming

Great food and great atmosphere - Edit
Stopped here after hiking at Pololu since there weren’t really any other vegan options around. This was hands down the best food we had our whole trip! So much so that we drove out of our way to go a second time a few days later.
Read moreBetween the two visits we tried all of the vegan options. All were fresh, delicious, and served quickly. They all came with vegan purple sweet potato salad. It was magical! Slightly vinegary with small mince of pickle and onion. Simple and delicious.
If you’re anywhere on the big island, make it a point to stop because you will not be disappointed.

Fabulous banh mi - Edit
I got the tofu banh mi. It was the tastiest thing I ate during my entire vacation. Great bread. Great flavors. A really lovely spot to spend an evening. Enjoyed live music too.

Fresh, delicous vegan options - Edit
Our family ordered the Beyond sausage dogs with garlic fries and another with truffle fries (minus the parmesan), and also the tofu bahn mi which included a side of local purple potato salad. They also had three flavors of smoothies, acai, berry, and mango, all good, but mango the best for the tropical flavor.

Super fresh, super tasty! - Edit
Gill's lanai is a quaint little hole-in-the-wall shack that provides a bright and cute lunch spot! I loved the brightly painted patio seating, encased in a lovely garden at the back. The server/owner was very friendly and accommodated us even though we were a few minutes after closing time. Melissa is a fantastic chef, and her tofu bahn mi is one of the freshest, tastiest sandwiches I've ever had. Her house sauce was bursting with flavor!

Excellent Food and Awesome Local Vibe - Edit
We popped in for lunch with our Omni family on a family vacation. As far as options there were only two that I could see. The vegan apple sage field roast hot dog with chips that my husband and boys had and the lemongrass tofu sandwich that I had. It was all very very good and relatively quick with the large party we had. My Omni family enjoyed their dishes as well. Small little outdoor eating area where we were able to chat it up with locals. Definitely a great little stop on the big island.

If you're expecting something fancy or even full restaurant from a place that has porch in the name... you're at the wrong place.
Read morePerfect to grab a quick lunch, we couldn't have been happier. The vegan truffles were to die for, and my wife very much liked her tofu banh mi. I was surprised and delighted with my loaded field roast dog.
Couple cans of soda later and we were refreshed and ready for the afternoon.
