Remote island with ok food options - Edit
Gili Asahan is the least popular of the Gili island off of Lombok, which makes it a welcome respite from busier locations. Gili Asahan Eco Lodge is a friendly, beautiful, and restful spot to stay. The menu is extensive, boasting Italian and Indonesian/Lombok options, considering the remoteness of where it’s situated. Vegan selections are more limited, but I was comfortable with my choices for a two night stay. Vegetarian options were more plentiful. The juices and smoothies are 5 star alone — great flavours and not overly sweet. The chia bowl was another highlight, great for breakfast or as a protein and fibre filled snack. The sayur urap was also surprisingly tasty. The insalata di tempe and cotoletta di tempe filled a hole, but can’t say much more about either. They’re both good ideas, but execution was a bit of a let down.
