Yum - Edit
Cute, casual bistro with plenty of seating, free restrooms, and paid parking just outside the door (Salt District lot), though we walked from our hotel. The Reuben was delicious! Pastries looked good but I was too full to try any. Wish we’d found this place sooner!

Amazing! - Edit
What a great vegan restaurant. Good service. Nice ambience. Delicious cheese burger! My photos were terrible, but the cheese burger is literally sunk into a plate of melted cheese. I did manage a photo of my icecream sundae.

The food here is amazing. All vegan menu. Also a small store where you can buy mock meats. Their pastrami slices are amazing in sandwiches.
Read moreThe lighting is quite dark so at first we weren't sure if they were open. But it adds to the atmosphere and the menus come with little reading lights. Make sure to check the specials board. We didn't notice it till we were leaving.
Pros: varied menu, nice vibe

I used to LOVE this place T_T - Edit
I used to absolutely love this place but since moving to the new location the food is just not good. Prices have always been steep but I don't feel like the quality is what it used to be so can't justify forking out anymore. My partner had a cheese burger that was cut in half and literally floating in a plate of cheese, not appetizing at all and no veges, just a patty on bread. Mine was a KFT which I've had before just fine and it was just really greasy and not nice. They don't do soup of the day or pasta of the day anymore and those were honestly show stoppers and why we would go. I remember the menu being much bigger at the former location too. Hoping those were just kinks of moving to the new place but if not we won't be returning unfortunately.

Classy & Tasteful - Edit
GG bistro is such a classy joint now, with a cosy rustic appeal. Such a cool spot for lunch.
Read moreWe ordered the KFT burger and loaded fries. Both were yummy but having the bun slightly more toasted would have really elevated the burger.
Though lovely and high quality, the food was slightly on the pricey side. But you get to dine in a lovely space, so that does really add to the experience.
Service was also wonderful!

Varied menu, pleasant space - Edit
Charcuterie and cheez boards, mains, desserts and wines, beers, cocktails and mocktails - all vegan. Pastries from local Bellbird Bakery. I enjoyed the croquettes and a side salad and the next time, the Reuben - grilled deliciously. A blackboard displays daily specials, including soup, loaded fries, and, today, a quinoa-salad bowl. The beet tartare and feta are both excellent. A new brunch menu - served till 3 pm - includes a tofu bene with chili oil (hot).
Read moreSome menu items come with alfalfa sprouts, of which I'm not a fan, so next time I'll order things without "micro greens" or "micro herbs."
Pleasant service and space.
Some grocery items and treats at the back.

We loved the new city location on High Street! Lovely staff, great food (we highly recommend the Cheeseburger with fries, as you can dip the cheese on the sizzling hot plate, yum) and nice wines, too!

Great food, awesome service. - Edit
Solid menu options. We had the KFT and the Fricken burger (with hot sauce) and a oat flat white. Coffee was great, food delicious and the service awesome. The Tofu in the KFT was so good I had to ask the staff what the secret was! 😁

Great vibes, delicious food - Edit
We went here twice, during our quest to try all four 100% vegan spots in Christchurch and this one was definitely one of our favorites. We loved the vibes at the location and the food was just great. We especially loved the Reuben Sandwich - sooo good. Service was really friendly, too!

Amazing Food - Edit
Everything was extraordinary delicious. Especially the tofu (KFT Burger and Salad) was out of this world but the Lentil Dish and the Reuben Sandwich were also amazingly good. We were in Christchurch for 2 days and came here three times (admittedly just for a coffee one time but that was good as well) because it was so good. The staff was also pretty friendly

Amazing vegan comfort food - Edit
This was excellent vegan comfort food without using ultra processed imitation meats.
Read moreMy husband got the vegan feta whip, which was amazing and I got the KFT sandwich. It was amazing, I did not think you could do this with tofu and I experiment quite a bit in my own kitchen.
The location is great too, it's in a converted garage in the industrial part of town.

The food is very tasty and satisfying. We had frickin burger, pasta of the day and loaded fries. A bit pricey, but that seems to be the way when dining out in New Zealand.

Pretty Good - Edit
100% vegan, good flavour (we got the KFT chips) but partner found the seitan to be a bit too much. Price also seems a bit expensive for what it is, but after looking at the menu online we had a feeling no prices meant higher prices. We are not fine diners by any means so take “expensive” as you will.

Non fake meat options yum - Edit
A lot of the menu contains fake meat (seitan), which I just don’t like. But I do like the few options without any fake meat - fries, coffee especially, and on my last visit I tried the soup of the day (Indian potato, pea and spinach - quite spicy, but tasty and a big portion with bread).

This place has been a favourite of ours for a few years now, especially the KFT!! They sometimes have live music, plus the occasional event as well. It's not cheap to eat here, but it's definitely worth a visit.

Used to be good - Edit
I was a regular at GG for a long time. I stopped going for the last year, so when I was finally able to go go eat I was so happy!!
Read moreI went in for a Sunday lunch, it wasn't iverly busy, 2 other tables. My partner and I ordered our food. I noticed our food was taking a while, so I asked the waitress where our food was ( a beetroot salad and a burger) we were told it was up next.. after 45 mins our food arrived. It looked good. After a few bites I noticed a charred flavour in my food, and then found a burned piece of beetroot... then more. Most of them were burnt. I showed the waitress, to which she snatched up my plate and said she would be taking it off the bill and walked off. No offer of a replacement or anything. So I had to sit and watch my partner eat her burger. I posted a review to which they replied that they were busy and no one else complained about the salad.
So, after a few years of mismanagement, this place has just gone down the drain. They just don't care about their customers or their food.
I will not be returning to Grater Goods and would recommend others don't.

We loved everything we got, Sunday roast burger, mushroom fettuccine, cheeseburger loaded fries, crem brulee and vegan pate! It all came out pretty fast which was appreciated because it was dinner time and we hadn't eaten since around 5am.
