Good, cheap food

This food stall is very close to the train station. It seemed to me they make one meal - paratha and a plate of dhal, chutney and vege curry. It's tasty and spicy.

Normally, they fry the bread in ghee (a local customer told me). You have to ask them not to. "No ghee." They didn't fully seem to know the word "vegan" but understood, "no milk, no ghee".

It's run by a father and daughter. The father sat and chatted to us while we ate. He's 83 and has run the place for 35 years.

Simple stall with tasty chapati

Simple menu but the chapatis are great - fresh, fluffy, soft, non-greasy, went very well with the dal

Pros: Tasty chapati

Cons: Simple stall, expect simple menu

Gerai Chapati Maya, Ipoh

Delicious made to order chapatis. Owner says dahl is vegan. Cans of ghee on the counter indicate some other curries are not. 11 rm for 5 chapatis with dahl. Very tasty food served by a gentleman.

Pros: Tasty vegan options, Nice server, Inexpensive

Cons: All vegan is always better

Friendly Staff and Great Curry

We happened upon this one after having ice cream first.

The owner is very friendly and understands enough English to understand vegetarian no yoghurt (they don’t use eggs.

The breads however are not vegan.

Very cheap - RM 13 for two adults and three children with multiple thali plates (he kept refilling until we were full).

Curries were not spicy, and the pumpkin in particular had great flavour.

Pros: Clean Hawker store including toilets , Curries had great flavour , Friendly owner

Cons: Breads aren’t vegan - ghee used to cook them

Good estimation of my spice level

Good roti chappati and great dahl. Comes with little bit of veggies.

I am always still hesitant when an indian promises me that something is "not so spicy". But they really estimated my personal spice level well. I got two dahls (or are they curries?) And some vegetables that were just right for me.

We had nice conversations with the owner and some other customers.

If you enjoy rotti chappati, I can reccomend you this place.

Pros: All Vegetarian, Right amount of spicyness, Nice family buisness

Happy find—curry veg plate at food court

We had a delicious veg curry plate breakfast at this food court. The owner chatted with us and made sure we had plenty to eat—bringing piping hot chapati. The owner has had the stall for more than thirty years and his family has been in Ipoh for generations. He prepares all the dishes. He also showed us photos of him cooking at his temple for 600 people. The food court is located on the clock tower square across from the main mosque—not far from the train station.

Pros: Food court setting on open plaza, Inexpensive, Open for breakfast
