Delicious vegan ice cream - Edit
We had been recommended the coconut almond ice cream by on of the vegetarian cafes in Pai.
Read moreWhen we got to Gepeto we asked which flavours were vegan, the lady asked us whether we were vegan or allergic to dairy. We initially said allergic as we are very careful, so she said maybe it's best to leave it because the dairy and non dairy flavours are all stored in the same place so cross contamination is possible. We considered that this is like the warning you can get on packaged food "May contain traces of..." which is not a warning that deters us.
She had 2 vegan flavours - almond coconut and coconut blueberry. They were both magnificently tasty, coconutty and creamy. It's a shame that some/all of the other flavours are not vegan as there are lots of fruit and/or coconut flavours that could easily be vegan. It's also my experience that vegan ice cream is impossible to tell from "the real thing" when done well and it can be in all the same flavours that dairy ice cream can be.
It's also a shame that they don't go to greater lengths to separate the ice creams and reduce chances of cross contamination.
The ice cream was very good albeit a little expensive.

Not sure if actually vegan - Edit
My partner and I tried this supposedly vegan ice cream. We didn’t finish our coconut based ice creams as both flavours didn’t taste anything like coconut. So made us worried about its authenticity. Tasted to much like dairy. We didn’t want to risk it.

I tried two of the three vegan flavours. It was really creamy and reminded me of dairy icecream, so was hesitant to finish it and threw it away. I didn't got a blown up stomach, so i tried it again a few days later. It is actually pretty good! You get a big scoop for about 30 bath.
