No actual vegan options - Edit
Vegetarians can eat here no problem, but we left because there are basically no vegan options. Nobody could tell us what they fried things in (yes some places still fry in animal fat) and they do not have a bun for the mushroom burger that is vegan. Server did not seem to know the difference between vegetarian and vegan, which is totally understandable for a teenager from rural Kansas, no blame there. It's a really cute little town, though.

I-70 Stopoff - Edit
Not a ton of options here but it’s a pretty good spot for middle of nowhere Kansas. The mushroom burger was pretty tasty, ordered without cheese of course. The pecans are a nice touch that I had not had before.

Great break from I-70 monotony - Edit
Needed a break and the beer hit the spot. They had a good crowd in the middle of the afternoon. Just had the pretzel with beer cheese. Easy parking on the street or in the lot off the cobblestone road.

Not much competition in KS - Edit
Partner had the mushroom burger sans cheese. I ordered three sides. Better than a chain restaurant. Glad to have found a place to eat as it was 107 and too hot to cook out on our road trip.

Vegan food in Hays KS!? - Edit
My husband asked me to find a place to eat on our way to Denver and I almost laughed at him because where am I going to get vegan food in western Kansas?? Happy Cow came through for me once again! Gella’s was great. We were very happy with the food and service.

Surprising find in Western Kansas! - Edit
Stopped through here on my way to SW Kansas and was very pleased. They had more vegan options than listed on their main menu. They also have a Seasonal Menu that offered this sandwich with tofu, beet hummus, sprouts and avocado. They allso have a mushroom burger, pita and hummus appetizer, beans salad and a few other options. The vibe was great I recommend checking it out.

Order sides - Edit
Driving across Kansas I was hopeful we could find someplace with enough vegan food to call it dinner. We saw a sign for this place from the interstate and I’m glad we went. White bean side dish was delicious as was the huge basket of garlic green beans (on the specials menu). We also got red potatoes (👍) and mixed veggies (small portion, nothing special). Flavors were good and the place is nice with big crowds. The town is very interesting to walk around after dinner and watch the sunset over the train tracks.

Great brewery with a couple vegan options - Edit
We frequent this brewery, as the beer is amazing. We usually get the veggie burger (hold the cheese) or a salad and some sides. The staff is super knowledgeable and friendly and will answer any questions you have about the ingredients in the food!

Great vegan dinner - Edit
Super friendly wait staff, happy to help navigate the menu. Veggie burger is wonderful. They have a Mediterranean plate that is vegan once you exclude the cheese and pita bread (they added extra grilled asparagus as compensation. Win!). Dining area is huge and beautiful with tons of windows. Awesome!

Fantastic find! - Edit
Driving across Kansas, it is always a challenge to find good vegetarian food. Gella’s has multiple options. I had the falafel pita and a side salad with lemon vinaigrette. I also ordered the white beans with tomato and basil for lunch on the road tomorrow. Other items of interest were the black beans and rice from the sides menu. Very grateful for tasty and healthy food in the road!

Not much for vegans except the veggie burger, but it's a good burger! No egg bun, hold the provolone...
