Sempre presenti alcuni opzioni vegane a parte in questa gelateria storica di Bologna. Oltre ai gusti di frutta sono di solito presenti 4 gusti vegani: cioccolato, nocciola, pistacchio e il mio preferito: sole ( vaniglia con mandorle pralinate e scorza di arancia). Don’t overlook the vegan ice creams - Edit
We almost walked out of the store again, because we only saw the three vegan sorbets (strawberry, mango, lemon) and not the other ones mentioned on HappyCow. If you walk just a little bit further in the store, you will find their “vegan section”. When we visited, they had: chocolate, vanilla flavored with orange and almonds, pistachio and hazelnuts.
Read moreWe enjoyed the pistachio ice cream, vanilla was a bit too sweet for our taste. Definitely do not take the vegan cone, as it’s not the usual vegan and gluten free one which you can find everywhere in Italy, but a very friable one.
They also sell different vegan spreads (pistachio, hazelnut/chocolate, etc.).
Edit: we went back for a second round and are happy to report that not only the strawberry, but also the chocolate and hazelnut tasted great! The service was also very friendly.

The staff in this shop were so sweet and helpfull. There were 4 different vegan flavours and I tried 3 of them. The ice cream were melting really fast, because it was a bit wattery; but the flavours were amazing! 🥰

Delicious hazelnut gelato! - Edit
I loved the hazelnut flavour - so creamy and delicious! One of my all time faves I think! Such a nice change to the dark chocolate that is usually vegan in a lot of gelaterias. Clearly labelled vegan, they also had a pistachio and ‘il sole’ flavour as well as the usual fruit flavours. I also enjoyed reading the signs that explained all the flavour names on the wall!

There were “only” six vegan options which seemed not much in relation to the whole amount of ice cream they offer. There were no “special” flavors, just fruit flavors. Nevertheless, the ice cream was really good and I would definitely recommend it if you’re in the area.

Every time I visit BO I also visit Gianni. I just love his Vegan Pistachio Ice Cream. There are other Options like Sole, Almond, Hazelnut, Chocolate or mint chocolate (not always the same) but Pistachio is my favourite.
