Serves meat, vegan options available. Ethiopian restaurant with a vegetarian and vegan section on the menu (all dishes are suitable for vegans). Dishes include kik alicha wot, ye'misir kike wot, shiro wot, cabbage, key sir alicha (beetroot), ye'duba wot (pumpkin stew), potato stew, whole lentil stew and house salad dressing. Open Mon 5:00pm-10:00pm, Wed-Sun 5:00pm-10:00pm.

Friendly service and delicious food

Good vibes from the moment you walk in to this friendly, cosy restaurant. Half the menu says vegetarian/vegan, but we double checked and it's all vegan - one of the benefits of eating at Ethiopian restaurants. I highly recommend getting the veg combo platter, which is a selection of different dishes served on and with injera. (Or rice apparently, but injera is my fave) This is a pretty standard option for Ethiopian restaurants, and the quality and variety here is definitely up there with the best I've had. Quite reasonably priced, and generous serving size. Get on it!

Recently renovated

Ge'ez has recently been renovated (end of 2021) and is a even lovelier place to eat than before. Also the food is amazing - Ethiopian vegan is always a winner - and they have heaps of Ethiopian beers.

Ethiopian restaurants everywhere are tasty options for vegans. It’s great to see some new ones popping up in the North. Ge‘ez on Sydney Road has a relaxed friendly atmosphere. I tried spiced Ethiopian tea with cardamom which was a nice alternative to coffee with my evening meal. We ordered the veggie platter for $24 pp and it was colourful and fresh. A variety of tasty dishes including lentils, split peas, beetroot, cabbage, potato, pumpkin. Every dish unique and delicious. Even the dressing on the side salad tasted especially good. Served on bubbly injera, slightly sour from the fermentation process. My favourite part is the injera at the bottom that soaks up all the delicious juices from the wats. Definitely go check it out if you’re in a bit of a dining rut and feel like changing it up.
