Few vegan options, but great tamales - Edit
The main attraction for herbivores at this New Mexican-inspired eatery is the veggie tamales, which can be served vegan on request (without cheese). They’re very tasty and filling. We recommend the “Christmas” option (green chili on one half and red on the other).
Read moreThere are a few other veganizable options, including the vegetarian plate and the enchiladas (specify vegan, no cheese), plus the chips and guacamole, and the gazpacho. They also serve sopapillas on the house for dessert, which are vegan if you ask them to hold the butter and honey.
Service is generally good, with some highs and lows, ranging from one delightful server (in 2023) who is vegan herself to an irritable fellow (in 2021) who served our dish with cheese even after we asked for it to be made vegan and then scolded us for not explaining to him what “vegan” means (for which he later apologized, to his credit), so we’d suggest politely being specific with your order.
A note on price: we understand the restaurant business is hard work and we support local business to set prices accordingly, but just be aware that prices here are a little higher than the local average — though the portions are larger, too, so folks on a budget might share a plate and leave happy.
There’s both indoor and outdoor seating, and room for larger groups on the back patio.
We just wish they would offer a greater variety of vegan options, and if they do in the future then we’ll come more often.

Had clearly marked items - Edit
The menu was clear with what was vegan - I was happy to have tamales, but it could have been more flavorful.

Classic Mexican food, hits the spot - Edit
This was a great experience. They don't have an abundance of vegan options as a traditional Mexican restaurant, but there is a dedicated vegetarian section with a few dishes that can be made vegan, as well as dips and appetizers. I had the vegetarian enchiladas (no cheese) with rice and refried beans, which do not contain lard.
Read moreWe went during happy hour and despite it being moderately busy, our food arrived very quickly, hot and freshly prepared. The meal portions are hearty and will leave you full and satisfied. Highly recommend this if you are in the area and craving a classic Mexican meal.
Pros: Food was delivered quickly, hot and fresh, Multiple tasty salsas/dips, Healthy portion sizes

This is one of my favorite places to eat in Durango. - Edit
Lots of vegan options. I love the tamales. The burger is good too. Meals are pricey, but their portions are generous.

Great margs, good Mexican food for CO - Edit
We shared the vegan tamale plate and did half red chili’s , half green chili’s. Meal came with beans also. We got some gauc which really helped the dish. Pretty bland compared to the Mexican food in Texas but satisfied our ‘traveling all day’ hunger. They do have 3 different salsas and they are all really good. Our server was super nice and gave us some ideas of what to check out for the night. Patio out front which we ate on.

Pretty average non-vegan - Edit
They had a couple of vegetarian options that could be made vegan. I got their veggie burger, it was average but came loaded with green chilies which were ok but very very spicy.

Ok food - Edit
I honestly would not come back. The food was ok. The enchilada wasn’t that great but the tamales were pretty decent. The food wasn’t anything to write home about and I do wish they disclosed more info about what was in the enchilada as it was just spinach and mushrooms which was rather disappointing. If you can I’d try elsewhere. We paid a pretty penny for food that wasn’t awesome.

Decent in a pinch - Edit
Was the closest / quickest vegan option so I ordered online for pickup - vegetarian enchiladas, no cheese. Came with rice and beans. Food was okay! Little pricey - $15 fees/tax/tip. Would have preferred to see staff wearing masks due to covid but they were not and restaurant was crowded with people dining in.

Great Mexican Veg Options! - Edit
My wife Alica and I ate are here this past weekend. Our server Logan did a great job (might be the friendliest waiter we've had in a long while)! We were very happy that they went to the trouble to put a Vegetarian Options section on their menu. My wife had a bean burrito made vegan and I had the vegan burger, which was excellent. The guacamole, salsa, homemade chips, and margaritas (frozen and on the rocks) were all worth coming back for. We love Mexican and are always pleased when a Mexican restaurant includes veg items on their menu with vegan options spelled out.
Read moreI'm not sure if the soy cheese was vegan - will need to ask for confirmation next time we're there.
Pros: Friendly staff, Great food with plenty of veg options
