Would not recommend

Phoned and they booked us in for 7:50pm. Did not get told that the kitchen closed at 8pm phone them 6 times to tell them we where running 5 mins later with no answer and no call back. Left a voicemail. Turned up and got told they would not serve us and to go away. Very not happy.

Pros: Nothing

Cons: The staff members

Usually good, hopefully just a very off day rather than going downhill.

Been to this restaurant numerous times over the past couple of years and always had good experiences, today was unfortunately not great. I ordered the vegan breakfast, and when it arrived, there was no butter for the toast. I asked if the butter provided for the other meals (non vegan) was suitable, and was told it wasn’t and they had no vegan butter (wasn’t told whether this was the norm, just that there was none). While I think serving vegan breakfast and not having any suitable butter for the toast is poor considering the restaurant seems to push its vegan options, I’d be willing to view it as an off day if there wasn’t more issues, but I was even more surprised to see my partners £4.50 roll and vegan sausage served dry, again with no butter or anything to make up for it. Wouldn’t it make sense to at the very least have offered to lather it in tomato sauce or something? What would’ve happened if we’d ordered the “just toast” option from the vegan section of the menu? Considering nobody seemed very bothered to inform us of anything, I genuinely believe we’d probably just have been served dry toast with nothing else if we hadn’t queried it beforehand. Butter suitable for vegans is very easy to obtain, sold in all local supermarkets. If these issues hadn’t been offputting enough, my partner also discovered a big hair under her roll, but chose to keep this to herself initially as she didn’t want to put everyone else off their meals, already being put off hers. Overall, a disappointing experience, which was surprising considering all our previous visits. If premium prices are to be paid, premium service is to be expected, and having all these vegan options and yet failing on something as simple is, to me, unacceptable. I hope Gather consider this and push to be better going forward.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Friendly

Cons: Expensive, Attentiveness hit/miss

Vegan menu, tasty food, service hit and miss…

We enjoyed the food and drinks, nice to have a full vegan menu, but the service was patchy. Loads of staff but seem to not be allocated to tables and prefer to chat at the bar… if you are relaxed and not in a rush that should not be a problem, you can just relax and enjoy the view.

Pros: Views!, Vegan menu

Cons: Lots of staff, but not focused on serving

Stunning location

Stunning location and a beautiful building (plastic hanging plants aside!). Interesting menu and a decent veggie/vegan choice. It would have been nice to have had a few more local options instead of some bought-in frozen things and the vegan burger was a circa 1990 bean burger,, but I’m being picky. The place itself is heavenly.

My only real complaint would be the patchy service. The two young girls seemed out of their depth and not very interested in their customers. A smile and acknowledgement now and then would have helped.

We’d definitely go back and it’d be hard to imagine anywhere nicer for a summer lunch or evening.

Pros: Stunning location, Decent prices, Lovely drinks menu

Cons: Odd service, Vegan options could be more adventurous

Stunning views, lovely food

It's a bit of a trek up the hill to get to the restaurant, but it's worth it for the lovely food in such a beautiful location. The vegan options are interesting, including vegan haggis nachos, vegan burger and vegan katsu curry, as well as vegan breakfast rolls.

Pros: Dedicated vegan menu, Friendly and welcoming staff
