C/Tejería, 9, Barrio Egia, Donostia, San Sebastian, Spain

A neighborhood bar. Order food at the bar, get your own plate, silverware, water, glasses, bread, and later the waiter brings the food to your table. Pay at the bar afterwards. Stews with tofu, tempeh, eggplant. Very little English spoken. Open Mon-Fri 1:00pm-3:30pm, Mon-Sun 8:30pm-11:00pm, Sat-Sun 1:30pm-3:30pm.

Un clasico de Donostia - Edit

El mejor restaurante vegetariano de Donostia. Lider indiscutible.

Delicious and cheap lunch - Edit

We were here for lunch and it was a very good deal; 11 euros for 5 courses (some just juice/soup). The food was tasty and the waiter very helpful. There was a choice of 3 dishes for each section of the menu, with vegan options clearly marked.

Pros: Good value, Nice atmosphere

Nice place! - Edit

In all it's a nice place. The food is good although not excellent. The prices are affordable even if I think that they could adjust them a little more, taking into account that the bread, forks, cutters and spoons are self-service. As a last commentary, I simply don't understand why vegetarian restaurants do not turn into vegan restaurants. Whatever...

Pros: Good food, Affordable, Friendly staff

Cons: Few vegan desserts, Why not directly 100% vegan?, Location

The original! - Edit

No problems finding good vegan food here. But would it be so hard to have vegan brownies or something for dessert? Currently only offering a mango smoothie (May 2015).

Still has the hippy/activist vibe that all veggie restaurants used to have!

Pros: Good eats, Informal atmosphere, Good for kids

Cons: Please, another vegan dessert

Tasty food - Edit

They have a large variety of food and everything I tried was delicious (croquetas de verduras, hojaldre con setas, etc.).

The staff was ok, because they were very busy.

Pros: Cheap, Tasty food

Gooood! - Edit

You always go out full and happy from Garraxi. Homie and ghood atmosphere. Maybe a little expensive. I sometime miss some more vegan dishes. Falafel is glorious!!

A hidden gem in residential San Sebastian - Edit

Had a fantastic meal at Garraxi. We were served by the friendly lady (owner?)and a smiling attendant. We ordered cautiously keeping our expectations low but loved every dish. The starters of crispy pakoras (Indian-style) melted in the mouth. My vegetarian pasta had unusual East Asian flavours which actually worked well. My friend's seitan was perfectly done and full of flavour. Would highly recommend a visit. Hope I can go again sometime and try all the other yummy-sounding dishes on the Garraxi.

Pros: Great-tasting food, Friendly staff, A relaxed and funky vibe

Cons: Slightly away from the centre

Good food, interesting place. - Edit

Admittedly, we were a little awkward entering this place as the service staff were a little intimidating and there was a private art exhibition going on. But later, we found that the staff WERE friendly. We reached at about 7 but dinner was only served at 9pm! So we had quite a wait, but I have to say it was worth it. The food was beautifully presented and lovingly prepared. We really enjoyed our Seitan served with sweet potato mash and mushroom fried rice. There was a decent array of vegan choices available (maybe except dessert!). We also had very yummy organic apple cider.

Pros: tasty food, reasonable prices, vegan choices

Cons: dinner served quite late

Work those taste buds!! - Edit

This is such a fantastic place to eat, even if you are not veggie. It is good value for money and the food is very satisfying. If you are veggie and visiting San Sebastian, you definitely need to go here. I personally recommend the vegetable croquettes as a starter. They are the perfect way to start off. I had the pizza BI twice in a row because I just thought it was fantastic. You can help yourself to some bread and the service is pretty quick. The ingredients are fresh. The staff are okay, they don't seem to be very friendly but overall, definitely worth a go.

Pros: Exceptinally tasty food, Good value for money, Very vibrant place

Cons: Staff are okay, not super friendly, Bit out of town

Lots of vegan options - Edit

This is a cool little Basque cafe, with an extensive menu (mostly in Basque) that has many clearly marked vegan options. I had an open burger, a salad, and guacamole, all of which were tasty and had large servings. Very pleasant.

No frills but solid and local spirit - Edit

Went to this place for lunch. The menu was fixed (two choices per dish) and partially a self-service place. You get a three-course lunch with water for €12. The food was tasty. The servings large and the guests seemed to be local. The menu was only in Spanish and the waitress also only spoke Spanish. Good atmosphere - almost homey. A good place to go for a solid meal with no frills.

Pros: teasty food, good value, nice atmosphere

Cons: Only Spanish, Weary look in the restaurant
