amazing food - Edit

In five weeks, this is the best veg food I have eaten in Costa Rica. I was in Monteverde for two days and I ate here twice! The staff was super nice and the food was incredible. I had the Mediterranean platter the first time I visited, and the veggie burger with homemade potato broccoli soup on my second visit. Veggie burgers have a tendency to be kinda meh, but theirs was really moist and flavorful. The soup was also great, and the Mediterranean platter was a huge plate of food full of fresh flavors! I can't say enough good stuff about this place. If you're vegetarian, eat here! If you're not, still eat here! The smoothies and vegan ice cream are really good, too (: It's a little pricey by Costa Rican standards, but cheaper (and better tasting) than similar restaurants in the US. Worth every penny and I was happy to give this place my business! I've been a Happy Cow lurker for years but finally made an account just to give Garden of Eden a great review (:

Pros: super flavorful, delicious, homemade food, great staff, peaceful ambiance and decor

Cons: hours inconstant, what was listed online wasn't ac

Absolutely amazing - Edit

I was there 5times in two days, ate everything you could get at this time and was always amazed by the food and drinks. Of all the great food I can't get the Mango Lassi out of my head, never had a vegan Lassi this great anywhere else in the world. The prices are totally fair and the staff doesn't need to be this shy ;) you did an amazing job - be proud about it :)

Pros: Great Food, Nice Place, Friendly Staff

Our home away from home - Edit

The moment we stepped into the peaceful loving arms of mama Eden, we felt right at home and so taken care of. The atmosphere and owners are both extremely welcoming and our dinner lasted almost 3 hours as we savored every bite and felt nourished and happy. Wish we could have tried everything on the menu! It is all so delicious, unique, and made with love . Our favorite was definitely the homemade ice cream , made with coconut and so many amazing flavors! They also have kefir- if you have never tried this magical bubbly beverage, don't hesitate!
Monteverde is a very special place, and garden of Eden really adds to the charm! We cannot even express our immense gratitude and love for this place and the owners, we are so thankful for getting to know everyone there and share our love and light and enthusiasm for delicious vegan food. The few days we spent in monteverde, we visited garden of Eden literally every one of them, just couldn't get enough!
Highly recommend this cafe to every person visiting Costa Rica , the experience will be wonderful and fill your heart with joy! Thanks so much for the care and support during our travels!

Love from josh, jane, and taylor!!!

Pros: ICE CREAM, Inspiring and knowledgeable library, Kindest people you will ever meet

Best Salad Ever - Edit

I had the best salad ever when I was recently in Costa Rica when I happened upon a vegan restaurant that now is in Monteverde area. It was simply inspirational. Set in a bed of tender freshly grown collards, a rainbow of sprouts and shoots and flowers, including chopped kale and tomatoes. All the ingredients freshly grown within a few miles. The chef came out and served me with a special comment about how rare it is for a traveler from the US to order salad. The sad thing is I didn't take a picture, but it was delicious and given with a special touch.

this is by far one of my favorite places that I ate at in costa rica. I'm gonna go as far as saying even in new york. everything is made from scratch, there is so much love packed into this cozy cafe! it is family run, that really shines with their service. if you are looking for a great atmosphere, tasty food, juice or smoothies that practice healthy and sustainable living this is your stop! and they have home made ice cream....enough said! I miss these ladies and the food, I can't wait to travel back to costa rica so I can stop in and grab a bite to eat....it's that good!

Pros: done simply, yet still packed with flavor. fresh e

Cons: small menu but I don't see this as a con but there

Best vegan food in Central America! - Edit

My husband and I had lunch at this adorable restaurant today and were blown away by how delicious and fresh everything was! I had the burrito which was filled with lentils, lettuce, tomatoes, guacamole and homemade cheese and sour cream!

My husband declared his veggie burger to be the best he'd every tasted and both our meals came with a side of the soup of the day (chili soup). I tried some of his mango lassi which was so rich and flavorful!

We managed to save a little room for the delicious ice cream from which there were about 8 flavors to choose. So yummy!

We had a lovely chat with the owner and her daughter who made us feel right at home. Do not miss visiting this restaurant the next time you're in Monteverde!

Pros: fresh food, creative menu

Cons: I don't have two stomachs

Vegan Paradise - Edit

I was staying in Montaverde for a couple of days and visited Garden of Eden every day of my stay. The food is amazing. I don't think I've ever had a veggie burger/veggie wrap/veggie pizza as good as I did here. Also, the ice cream, which is made by the staff, is better than any ice cream I've tasted in my life. If you're travelling to Costa Rica but didn't plan on staying in Montaverde, I urge you to at least visit this restaurant with lovely staff, a cute atmosphere, amazing food and great prices - all 100% cruelty free. Also an important note - I went here with non-vegans who all loved the food.

Pros: FOOD IS AMAZING, Not even a hint of animal products, Nice staff and great prices

Authentic Deliciousness - Edit

To say the least, I have been blown away by the delectable cuisine this restaurant prepares. There is no doubt that this one of my top experiences in eating vegan foods, in fact it rivals all non-vegan foods i've ever had in my lifetime. I visited this place during a vacation (I am from the US) and this restaurant exceed my expectations.
Aside from taste, Garden of Eden clearly supports the mission of spreading vegan options to the Costa Rican culture which also fosters nutritional and educational advancement for the locals.
On top of all this, the pricing is economical, and I ordered multiple dishes, the Vegan Pizza, the Veggie Burger, the Mediterranean Platter all of which were seriously yummy!
The only malcontent I have is that it is in Costa Rica!

Pros: TASTY , ECONOMICAL, NUTRITIOUS

Cons: Located far from home

This may be what heaven is like! - Edit

There are so many wonderful aspects of this resturant. It is by far my favorite veg resturant ever. I wish I could take this place back home with me!

Let's start with the food. My boyfriend and I stopped by when they were closed because we saw them inside and the sign on the door said vegan ice cream. They served us the most delicious, rich, and flavorful vegan ice cream I have ever had even when closed! It was so clean tasting and it was made with 100% all natural ingredients. They mint chocolate chip was my favorite but the mocha, butterscotch, and chocolate were also phenomenal. The next day we came back and had the veggie burger, pizza, and Mediterranean platter. I am not exaggerating when I say that when we started eating this food we immediately felt rejuvenated and nourished after eating the usual Costa Rican diet for the past week. Every single bite was so flavorful, colorful, and finely crafted. We could not believe how beautifully the food was presented to us and how absolutely delicious it tasted. We started with the Mediterranean platter which is hummus, toasted whole wheat pitas, falafel, and tahini sauce. The pita was perfectly toasted and everything was so fresh and bursting with flavor. Next came the veggie burger which they so kindly cut in half for us to split. It was easily the best veggie burger I have ever had in my life. It was so full of vegetables and the homemade dressings that Mirela makes her self were to die for. It also came with these delicious freshly made pickles. I was so full at this point because the food is so satisfying and delicious, but next came the pizza. Is was so big and beautiful with homemade vegan coconut, cashew cheese, tons of veggies and a hearty wheat crust. Oh my god it melts in your mouth. We also had a carrot beat juice that was so nourishing and really hit the spot. The muffins we took to go were perfect too!

Then the people and the restaurant itself is just beautiful. The owners are so kind and giving. We talked with them forever about nutrition and health. They are not in this business for the money, but because they truly want to educate people about healthful eating. They are simply angelic. They vibes of the resturant are also fantastic with plants everywhere. They even sell some health foods!

I truly cannot rave about this place enough. It was a saving grace in for us on Costa Rica where most of the food is fried in butter and is very unhealthy. We love this place so much and will be back!!

Pros: EVERYTHING it's perfect, The food, people, atmosphere, The genuine care these people have

Cons: They are in Costa Rica and not back home

A TOTAL FARCE - Edit

Salad was OK, other than that nothing seems to be authentic as it seems all fake and imitation of the real stuff! Tried the vegeburger. Was a giant let-down! Not to mention its price: 7 bucks! And don't ask about the ice cream price or the fake coffee! I thought garden of Eden was free, but be prepared to give your shirt! Also push a few other off the shelf items at greatly inflated prices! The woman who attended us Mirella i think her name was, also tried to push some radicalized religion on us! Be prepared to get disappointed as we all were but it is very easy to find and has good location! Definitely would not return there!

Pros: easy to find, good location, nothing else

Cons: tried to deceive with apperance, expensive as .........., simply not worth it
