Disappointing

This is my second time writing a review. I wrote a review when I ate here but it does not appear. Why is that?

Pros: Grateful for any vegan choices, The burger patty was tasty

Cons: Plantain bun did not go with the patty , Very very greasy, There was only one choice on the menu

We ate there 4 times this week!

My husband and I love love love Garden of Eat’n. We just discovered it recently and ate there almost everyday this week. Their menu rotates so we got to try something different and fresh everyday.

Not only is the food delish but the staff felt like family within minutes of walking in the door the first time.

It’s truly the cleanest, freshest, yummiest nourishment we’ve had outside of our house in a very long time.

If you call them they are happy to tell you what’s on the menu for the day.

Vegan or not, get here.

Pros: The food is fresh and clean, The people (staff and patrons), Pastries some days

Cons: They may not be open when you think they would be

Delicious Quiona Veggie Burger

My husband and I went here yesterday as we drove through Springfield Ma. The food is freshly made and delicious. We had a quiona veggie burger served on a plantain bun with a side kale salad. The owner was very friendly and interesting to talk with as he's very passionate about the Vegan and WFPB lifestyle.

Pros: 100%vegan , homemade everything

Cons: Limited daily menu options

Amazing

If you are in Springfield and want to get a delicious, healthy, vegan meal, made by beautiful Black hands, please, go to the Garden of Eat'n Springfield. They were first there for me when I was trying to lose weight and now, they are present in my vegan journey. I love this place because it’s not only about selling food— Zeph wants everyone to know about why healthy eating is important, what it does to you, specially, teach people of color. Every time I go, the place is packed with POC and it’s always a great place to connect with others, and feel safe. Springfield is a food swamp (there’s food here but no access to real healthy food) so having a place like this in the community is GOLD!! I am so happy to have this place.

Pros: All vegan , Food from scratch , Alkaline

Cons: Might have to wait a bit, Limited daily menu

Interesting (Review from December 2019)

I’ve been vegan 4 years and never stopped at this place until last night. The food was pretty okay, but my friend and I felt a little sickly overnight and into the morning after our meal. The owner seems friendly, but very in-your-face and made my younger sister feel uncomfortable to the point where she just wanted to leave as fast as possible. He said some weird things and then when she told him she was 17 he looked very surprised and that’s when he stopped making comments.

I loved their desserts, however, I won’t be going back because of the actual experience I had with the owner. He tried telling me ketchup isn’t vegan. I know plenty of places that make their own ketchup just fine, anyways! Then he told me if I were to have diabetes or cancer and ate at his restaurant for 2/3 weeks, both would disappear.

There was no hostility or rudeness on the staffs behalf, just strange interactions and all 3 people I went with agreed to feeling very uncomfortable.

Very odd experience. Food was just OK, but I only went on a Monday so I can only speak to what they offer on Mondays since it’s a changing menu.

Pros: All vegan

Cons: Not many options, Customer service is a little odd

Wicked Tasty!

I recently moved from Seattle where vegan food was definitely accessible so I've been on the search for delicious plant-based options on this coast. While in the Springfield area today, I stopped here for a bite and was not disappointed! The roasted veggie meal, which was accompanied by the MOST delicious fries and a fresh salad, was incredible! The Lemonade Ginger Refresher was incredibly tasty and refreshing! Everyone who worked there was friendly and welcoming. I will certainly be returning and definitely suggest that you make a trip to this amazing hole in the wall spot!

Great experience overall

Had a delicious vegan mac and cheese meal and such a yummy sea moss strawberry banana smoothie 💜 the owner is very welcoming and was happy to answer questions and I felt amazing afterwards! Definitely worth a visit! The place is also very cute with amazing artwork on the tables and a mini library to read while you wait for the food

Pros: It's all vegan!

Real foods for real vegans

Garden of Eat’n is a welcoming oasis in Springfield’s nutritional desert. You might be dissuaded by its location on a busy intersection across from a gas station and next door to a second-hand shop in a rundown second-hand part of town. Yet, on the same block sits a Nepalese café, and across the street a Vietnamese restaurant. Because this ethnically diverse neighborhood is home to these Asians and this is where they eat. I also overheard young blondes speaking in a Slavic language while pushing baby strollers down the street. If you are a white honkey as am I, you might not visit ‘the hood’ unless in search of Garden of Eat’n. Be assured it is well worth your search.

Garden’s front façade may be mistaken for an empty storefront, but inside is what counts. Zeph the chef and Damahya both are welcoming and outgoing. Zeph even will ‘thank you for hanging out with us.’ It was wonderful to talk with Zeph, wonderful too to listen to him philosophize about food, and best of all was hanging out with his food! This is vegan food that ventures beyond conventional newbie veganism. This is wholly whole-foods veganism, food that is both delicious and nutritious. Repeat, and nutritious! No white flour, no white sugar, no white tofu. No protein isolates or devitalized wheat gluten that is whiter than white flour. So no mock meats that make a mockery of veganism.

Each day of the week features a theme that includes 3 or 4 main dishes, all oversized and underpriced. I was there on Pasta Thursday. The pastas are all whole-grain spelt, an ancient and more expensive precursor to wheat. But calling it Pasta Thursday understates it. Better to call it Lasagna Thursday. The lasagna is a huge 5-inch cube that more accurately could be renamed Shepherd’s Pie. Most vegan lasagnas elsewhere consist of a layer of white-flour pasta atop a layer of oily fake cheese or blah tofu atop pasta atop some veggies atop pasta. Not here. Here every layer is wholesome and distinct, and should be eaten from the top down, layer by layer, in order to be fully appreciated. Because every layer was heavenly and nourishing.

I visit Springfield only for noteworthy exhibitions at its two small art museums, so I don’t visit often, in fact until yesterday my last time in 5 years, before the city had hosted an all-veg eatery. Now with Garden of Eat’n in town, I really look forward to the next time I will spring for Springfield.

Pros: wholesome and nourishing food, underpriced, Zeph and Damahya

Only thing making a mockery of veganism is the elitist mentality that some vegans are better than others.

Great 100% vegan whole plant based food

We just got back from there with the family, today is a Friday, and we had a pizza with half mushrooms and the other half was quinoa with cashew base and for sauce on top it was avocado based. We also had some lentil soup, salad and kale frittata which was amazing. Its a small place but very alive with music and vibrant energy. Thank you Zaza.

Pros: Great food, Awesome healthy smoothies, vibrant energy, music

Vegan Love

Small place run by a very nice guy. Welcoming atmosphere and simple idea. He has a different menu for each day. I went on a Friday and it was pizza day but i was early and had a lasagna that was very good. More a casserole than traditional but a reasonable price for a plate.

Pros: Vegan restaurant, friendly staff and atmosphere

didn't wind up eating here

We were driving through Mass and needed to eat so were super excited to see a vegan restaurant only a little out of our way.
The place didn't seem very well kept but we walked to the menu. My husband is gf, so I was nervous to find that Fridays are mostly pizza. I asked if anything was gluten free. She was honest and said she really didn't know and that her boss knows all the nutrition stuff. She also told us what they had left as they were out of most of the menu items.
Loved the idea of fresh, organic vegan food, but sadly, we decided to find somewhere else.

Pros: 100% vegan

Cons: limited menu, staff not educated on food ingredients, unkempt store

Good food, slow service

I came in on a quiet Saturday morning to pick up a quick breakfast before heading to the train station. I ordered the chickpea omelette. When I ordered, I was told that it would take around 15 minutes, as they were still starting up for the morning. I wasn’t in a rush, so I said that was fine. Unfortunately, it took far longer than that—I didn’t get my food until 45-50 minutes later, even though there was only one other customer there. I understand that fresh, made-from-scratch food can take time, but this was far too long. I believe they just started serving breakfast recently, so perhaps they are just going through some growing pains here. On the bright side the omelette was very good when I finally got it. Great texture and flavor. Their staff are also very warm and welcoming. I’ll give them another try when I’m in the area, and hopefully the service goes a bit smoother on my second visit.

Pros: Good food, Welcoming staff

Cons: Slow service

Amazing food!

Loved our lunch here. They have a daily changing menu with breakfast and smoothie options all day long. Only fresh, organic ingredients are used. My husband and I feel great after eating here. It’s a small pace where you order at the counter. Everyone is super friendly, we will be going back. :)
