Delicious food & wonderful owners!!! - Edit
Garden Fresh is a fabulous VEGAN restaurant with a great selection! Our favorites are the Szechuan Eggplant, the Basil Tempura, and the Scallion pancakes. We also love the Hot & Sour soup and the Corn & Tofu chowder! The owners are lovely! They cook & serve all the food themselves and are completely delightful & attentive. Highly recommend!

Absolutely Phenomenal - Edit
I went in to get some takeout:
Read more- vegan orange chicken and
- veggie chowmein.
But I ended up staying much longer than I expected because of the amazing owners. They were beyond kind and we got to talking about vegan food, Taiwanese food, tofu, and all sorts of things. They even gifted me an unexpected piece of vegan chocolate cake and let me try a tofu dish they've been making.
Wonderful people, very flavorful. Please support them and eat local!
Pros: The flavors, The owners generosity, Diverse menu

Alice is such a lovely hostess and the food was fabulous. The veggie duck is an absolute must—crispy, savory, and juicy. Be sure to ask for it spicy!

So many options to choose from! Chow mein lacked a bit of flavor but still good. Favorite was definitely the pepper chicken with veggies! Lychee drinks were pretty good too!

Not 100% vegan - gave me anaphylactic allergic reaction - Edit
I want to leave this review as a very serious warning for others with food allergies. This restaurant advertises itself as fully vegan, which by definition should mean no eggs, dairy, or other animal products. However, after only a few bites of my meal, I went into a severe anaphylactic reaction due to my egg allergy and had to take emergency measures.
Read moreThis was not a matter of mild cross-contamination—something in the food contained egg or was mislabeled. When a restaurant calls itself vegan, customers should be able to trust that egg and dairy are completely absent. For people with life-threatening allergies, accuracy is not optional. For me, this was not just an inconvenience — it was a terrifying and dangerous medical emergency.
If you have serious food allergies, please be extremely cautious here. I sincerely hope management takes this issue seriously, reviews their ingredient handling, and ensures they are not endangering customers.

Good - Edit
Scallion pancake - 7.5/10 very good
Read moreKung pao chicken - 8.8/10 great
steamed dumplings - 8.5/10 great
Generals veggie chicken - 7.5/10 very good, but might have been a bit undercooked inside, was a little mushy
Hundred year tofu - 8/10 very good
Burdock with bok choy - 8/10 very good, but was expecting Burdock root. The chunks were just more of a plant based meat
Fully plant-based place! They mainly use paper boxes for their packaging which was nice to see, but they do use regular white plastic shell containers sometimes too, and apparently other plastic containers for soups and the duck dish. Would be great to see them transition to fully paper or aluminum containers in the future!

Vegan Chinese Dinner - Edit
Mountain View only has one fully vegan restaurant and this is a great one to represent for the veg heads out there. Run by a small family, we felt right at home with their service and great food.
Read moreWe ordered three entrees and some brown rice on the side to share. Each dish was about $16 so average pricing for the area.
The Basil Tempura was highly recommended and we did enjoy the spices they used for the dish. I thought it would be a bit crispier given that it's tempura but they do add on a light sauce, making it more of a stir-fry consistency.
We also tried their Dry Braised String Beans with Soy Chicken and this was another standout. Like the previous dish, they do go a bit heavier on the sauce than I'd imagine so it's not a fully dry stir-fried dish, but a great one nonetheless.
My favorite dish was their veggie ribs which was essentially their take on beef and broccoli. Their use of mushrooms here as the beef was ingenious and the meaty texture of it made it taste very realistic.
Thanks Garden Fresh for being the lone fully vegan restaurant in the area. You're definitely a keeper.

Amazing! Will be back! - Edit
We loved everything we got! So flavorful and delicious. The Tempura Basil was such an explosion of flavor in my mouth. Highly recommend! The Tofu Delight was perfect and a great blend of fresh delicious veggies. Crispy Sesame Chicken was breaded perfectly and delicious sauce. Orange Beef had a wonderful texture and delicious sauce, perfect blend of savory & sweet. Honey Walnut Prawns hit the spot for my husband. It’s his favorite dish he would get at our old spot back in Philly and it’s been over 8 years since he found a spot that got it right how he likes it. Scallion pancakes were the best I have ever had and steam buns were perfect. My mouth is watering writing this. It’s the only Chinese food place I will visit when I’m in the area from now on.

An old favorite, still awesome! - Edit
I used to go to Garden Fresh all the time when I lived in the area. They always had great food and were always super nice and generous. I came back today after probably 10 years and it’s still the same awesome little place as I remember—I was so glad that it’s still here! The generals chicken is a longtime favorite but next time I’ll have to branch out and try something else from their extensive menu. Love this place!

Longtime favorite vegan restaurant - Edit
I used to frequent this place in the late 90s and early 2000s when I worked in the south bay. Now I'm working there again this this restaurant is still going! They have great lunch specials, sadly now without a cup of soup, but the plate itself is every bit as good. And they do have soups on the menu too. I have fond memories of their giant bowls of curry noodle soup.

Just ok - Edit
I had eaten here years ago and remember really liking it. Today I got the Kung Pao
Read more"Chicken" and it was ok but nothing special. When I ordered the waitress warned me it was a spicy dish which is what I wanted, however it wasn't spicy at all.
My friend's corn chowder and tofu soup was bland. It appeared to be thin broth with corn and tofu in it. She had to try to doctor it up with salt and pepper and soy sauce but ended up not eating most of it.
I'm not sure I'd go back again.

very focused on fake meats - Edit
Dishes are very 'meat' heavy. We had the duck because we were curious about the mushroom-soy meat base. It was pretty good, but the crust was not at all crispy and the sauce was a bit bland. The fried sesame chicken also wasn't crispy; the sauce was good but a bit on the sweet side. We ordered some scallion pancakes, but they never came. Not a big issue though since the portion are very large, I couldn't finish mine.

Best in the area - Edit
Everything we tried at Garden Fresh was so delicious! All the ingredients truly tasted fresh. This is definitely the best restaurant I've tried in this area, and I wish I had gone here sooner. The service was nice, too.
Read moreThe fried pumpkin as an appetizer was great, I love seeing pumpkin on a menu. My favorite dish was the Stir-Fried Veggie Chicken Chow Mein. I wasn't even in the mood for noodles, and I still couldn't stop eating them. The noodles tasted very high quality. And as someone whose favorite fruit is mango, the mango chicken dish was perfect. The fresh slices of mango brought it together so well. Even the rice seemed of a higher quality than what you usually get as a side at most Chinese restaurants.

Good for a family meal - Edit
My 3-year-old loved both the sesame chicken and the beef with broccoli. I liked the fake chicken but was less impressed with the “beef”. Behind the yummy sauce, it was kind of grainy and flavorless. The service was quite friendly and quick. I would recommend it for an informal lunch but not for a special occasion—it’s a little cluttered and the hvac system is very loud.
