Literally the start of my veganism - Edit
I grew up coming to the are to visit family and remember being taken here and being shocked I wasn’t eating meat. I have now been vegan for about 8 years and I plan to come out soon to visit, this place was seriously amazing and I think about it all the time!!!!

Tasty Food in Mountain View. Correct Photos Showing Now. - Edit
Nice tiny location. Great for dinner for two. Good options and tasty food. The Faux meats were a little chewy but nothing too crazy. Pricing was good. Good options.

Just ok - Edit
I had eaten here years ago and remember really liking it. Today I got the Kung Pao
Read more"Chicken" and it was ok but nothing special. When I ordered the waitress warned me it was a spicy dish which is what I wanted, however it wasn't spicy at all.
My friend's corn chowder and tofu soup was bland. It appeared to be thin broth with corn and tofu in it. She had to try to doctor it up with salt and pepper and soy sauce but ended up not eating most of it.
I'm not sure I'd go back again.

very focused on fake meats - Edit
Dishes are very 'meat' heavy. We had the duck because we were curious about the mushroom-soy meat base. It was pretty good, but the crust was not at all crispy and the sauce was a bit bland. The fried sesame chicken also wasn't crispy; the sauce was good but a bit on the sweet side. We ordered some scallion pancakes, but they never came. Not a big issue though since the portion are very large, I couldn't finish mine.

It’s true about the fake meats. I order the eggplant stir fry, veggie deluxe, and hot and sour soup. All yummy.

Best in the area - Edit
Everything we tried at Garden Fresh was so delicious! All the ingredients truly tasted fresh. This is definitely the best restaurant I've tried in this area, and I wish I had gone here sooner. The service was nice, too.
Read moreThe fried pumpkin as an appetizer was great, I love seeing pumpkin on a menu. My favorite dish was the Stir-Fried Veggie Chicken Chow Mein. I wasn't even in the mood for noodles, and I still couldn't stop eating them. The noodles tasted very high quality. And as someone whose favorite fruit is mango, the mango chicken dish was perfect. The fresh slices of mango brought it together so well. Even the rice seemed of a higher quality than what you usually get as a side at most Chinese restaurants.

Good for a family meal - Edit
My 3-year-old loved both the sesame chicken and the beef with broccoli. I liked the fake chicken but was less impressed with the “beef”. Behind the yummy sauce, it was kind of grainy and flavorless. The service was quite friendly and quick. I would recommend it for an informal lunch but not for a special occasion—it’s a little cluttered and the hvac system is very loud.

Excellent - Edit
I had a great time here, trying the scallion pancakes, hot and sour soup, vegan duck (shiitake mushrooms and tofu skin) - the menu had so many different dishes, all vegan. The owner was really kind, it was nice to chat with her for a bit.

Best vegan restaurant ever! - Edit
Loved every dish I had this time! The service is wonderful ♥️ I love the lady who runs this place - she is super polite, kind, and makes my day every time I visit this place.
Read moreWe tried:
1. Hot and sour soup (5/5): It was extremely delicious. Hot and spicy, perfect for the rainy weather.
2. Veggie ribs (5/5): Tastes like soft chewier seitan. We asked for extra spicy, and this was extremely hot! So watch out if you make modifications.
3. Veggie duck (5/5): My favorite! Its a dish I always get because it’s super filling (most quantity of mock meat / protein you can get in a dish here). It’s batter fried so I often don’t eat the “skin” but it’s tasty af. We asked for extra spicy but this dish is never spicy no matter what we request 😆.
4. Jasmine tea (5/5): Surprisingly, I love this tea. It was perfect to have this in the winter.
Try the veggie ribs, and veggie duck if you’re visiting this place for the first time. 2 other options is Kung pao chicken and black pepper chicken - don’t forget to ask them to make them spicy!
Pros: Fully vegan! , Polite service, Affordable

I have been eating at Alice’s restaurant for over 30 years. My husband who is not a vegetarian enjoys eating their food as well. She is a wonderful human being and the food is delicious. I highly recommend it. #Veganuary

Great - Edit
A modest little place that is run by a lovely woman with a fun sense of humor. Food is yum and offers all the Chinese classics and a few surprises. We especially enjoy the basil tempura. We always order too much and when we ask the leftovers to be wrapped up we often get a free piece of vegan cake (carrot or chocolate) which is a nice touch and is great customer service.

Plenty of vegan meals modeled after meat dishes - Edit
A small restaurant with a menu packed with items that are meant to resemble meat dishes. I had the Mongolian Chicken (soy-based), which came as a mound of small tofu-like slivers mixed in with vegetables and sauce. Flavorwise, it was fantastic, albeit not particularly close to how I remember chicken tasting. If you haven't been here yet, it's absolutely worth giving this place a shot.

Sweetest owner ever - Edit
This restaurant is in a tucked away little corner on a small strip center. Make sure to use the restroom before hand since they have no public restrooms.
Read moreWhen we walked in, the owner was on the phone taking an order. She asked if the lady talking was a specific woman then said she was hoping she was feeling well and heard she was sick. She sounded so genuine and sweet that she even reached out to a customer calling like that. I felt like I needed to add that to show this sweet woman’s character.
The inside was pretty small but has a good amount of seating. We ordered at the counter first and paid at the end.
I got the orange chicken. One of the best orange chicken sauces I’ve ever had. The chicken texture was also very good. Not like others I have really had and I enjoyed it a lot. The broccoli was also fresh not frozen and cooked perfectly.
My husband got the vegan duck and really really liked it. Said the texture was great and sauce was yummy. We got a side order of rice which was also plenty for two people. It was like a sticky brown rice consistency.
I got a piece of chocolate cake to go and it was so rich and fudgey. I wish I had gotten another.
I just want to emphasize that the entire time the owner was so sweet and funny and was always making sure we were happy. I haven’t had such a pleasant experience with someone like that in quite awhile. You can tell she truly cares about her customers and their well being.
Prices were a little high but worth it for the food and service. I would definitely come back here again.

This is the best Vegan Chinese in the Bay Area and the owner is an absolute treasure; she is by far the only person I miss and her business the only dining I crave from my time in Silicon Valley.

Small Chinese Restaurant - Edit
Found Garden Fresh while visiting nearby area. The lady who took our order was very nice. Yet she said we could only take out. The restaurant was empty but she said they had a large to go order so could not handle people eating in. It would have been nice to eat there so we had to eat at a local park. The menu was primarily fake meat. We ordered Hunan chicken and an asparagus dish. It was ok just like a stir fry . I liked that they had brown rice options and the food was not so oily and salty as some Chinese food can be. Will have to come back to try dessert and other specials.

My new favorite restaurant - Edit
From the super sweet owner to the amazing food - this place is my new favorite in Mountain View. I’ve been vegan for 4 years and always look for high quality vegan food. My wife and I have both loved every dish that we’ve ordered so far. I’ve made one mistake and ordered online from one of their copycats and will not repeat that again😄I’m a loyal fan for good.
