Amazing! - Edit
It might have been the best vegan Vietnamese restaurant I have visited in Germany so far. The food was really great, one could feel the veggies were fresh, and that the dishes were planned out carefully (i.eg. the veggie mixes were different for the two dishes from the "rice dishes" category). I loved the option to choose a different sauce for the same dish, it really changed the flavor profile. The iced tea drinks were refreshing and tasty.
Read moreThe interior was nice and fit the atmosphere, the staff spoke English and was really nice. Overall the place felt upscale, but was very much in the regular German restaurant price-range. I really hope to return one day and taste more things!

Leckeres veganes Essen - Edit

Origineel, vriendelijk, heerlijk - Edit

Excellent Tom Yam soup, Wan Tan, & Tempura! - Edit
The staff are really friendly, it's a creative place, and fun to have another all vegetarian Vietnamese restaurant in town. My favorite is the Tom Yam soup - the broth tastes just like I like it. The Bun is also good and some of the noodles are made out of vegetables. Also love the dumplings (the chili mayo sauce is actually spicy!), Gao's Tempura, and sesame balls (like: 24, 30, 38d, 8, 10, 49, 54). A must try once are the vegan chicken legs (2). Nice, but don't need to order again (22,123, 36, 39, 40,5): tofu classic, scharfes seitan, gebratene wan tan, gefühlte tofu, and mango lassi (vegan and thick, kind of on the yogurt side). The seitan skewer appetizer comes with a nice peanut sauce and is good, but the fried rice rolls tasted too much like seaweed for me. We sat outside while we waited for our take away (which arrived faster than I expected given that they were really busy on a Friday night) and they did a good job with dressing up the outdoor seating on the street with plants and rocks and statues and such. In Jan 2023, I discovered that they no longer offer delivery and there is no possibility to order online for pick up. I tried to order food over the phone for pick up at a particular time, but I had to talk to two different people before eventually they understood what I wanted to do. Not sure why this is now so difficult when it was standard practice before.

Pros: Friendly staff / Freundlich Personal, Nice outdoor seating / Nett draußen zu sitzen, Loads of vegan options / Viele Vegane Optionen
Cons: Not everything marked vegan is actually vegan, Not 100% vegan despite the restaurant's name, No delivery since 2023

SO GOOD - Edit
The food was REALLY good! We went there twice throughout our stay, but I honestly would've gone there every day.
Read moreWe had the following dishes:
10b. Gyoza (very good, classic gyoza)
18. Vorspeisenplatte (nice mix, a bit small, 2 of certain appetizers)
20. Com Gao (HEAVENLY, I ordered this also the second time)
22. Gao's Rolls (very good, fried sushi rolls - what do you expect)
37b. Long Live the Duck with Peanut Sauce (delicious, supergood "duck")
47. Dau Ca Chua (also delicious, quite a portion)
54. Sesam Bällchen (yummy, classic sesame balls I guess)
At first glance the prices seemed rather high, but after tasting the food it was justified. The homemade Ice Teas and Lemonades are great, but a bit sweet for my taste.

Authentic food bursting with flavour - Edit
GAO Vegan came high on Happy Cow's list of recommendations, and since it's located 5 minutes away from where I was staying, I had to give it a go. Not sure if they have an English menu, but I managed to pick a dish using my very limited German ("Long Live the Chicken") and it didn't disappoint! While it's not the cheapest place I've eaten at in Leipzig, the food is most definitely worth it - it's practically bursting with flavour, and the portions are sizeable, too.
Read moreThe only thing I'm not sure about is the service - but I'd rather have the staff leave me to my own devices than hover over me, so there's that.

Mouth Watering 'chicken' skewers - Edit
So many vegan Vietnamese restaurants - especially in Berlin. My expectations were not high, I must admit. And the staff was as friendly as you expect in a touristic area.
