Lovely Lasagne - Edit
Had lunch here. Went for the lasagne and garlic bread which was delicious. Had the date and walnut cake after along with loose leaf tea and oat milk. The soup was also vegan. There were 2 cakes and a pudding with ice cream on offer.

Great - Edit
Situated near the castle in an attractive Georgian building. Friendly staff and reasonable prices. Vegan items are clearly marked on the menu plus the daily specials may include a vegan meal (on the day I visited, the special was a pea, leek and asparagus risotto). The vegan lasagne was really nice, as was the date and walnut cake I had to follow. Other vegan items include suit, garlic bread, cinnamon muffin, toasted plumbread and flapjack. Although there isn't a wide range of vegan options, I really enjoyed my visit.

Local legend - Edit
Gannets is a long-standing local institution and rightly so. Substantial veggie meals (try the mushroom and hazelnut lasagne), sumptuous salads and fabulous coffee and cake are their mainstay. They are located in a lovely old building opposite Newark Castle. Prices fair for the good-sized portions and everything is always fresh and delicious.

Some vegan choices available - Edit
I was in the Newark area which is not an area that's easy to find vegan food. Whilst searching various restaurant websites I came across Gannets and the mention that they can cater for vegans. I rang and was told there were some options available however these are not listed on the menu as vegan. On arrival the lady spoke with the chef who was able to inform which options were vegan. I opted for the Provençal Bean and Vegetable Casserole which was fresh and tasty. Bread was provided as a side and this was served with dairy free spread. Plenty of drink options and soya milk also available. Food and drink a little on the pricey side but is fresh, local and organic. If you are in the area and stuck I'd give them a call. The menu changes frequently with daily specials so if you want to know what's available I'd suggest calling ahead.
