CLOSED: Gandhi Veggie

I came today at 2pm, HappyCow, their Facebook page and the sign on the door say it opens at 12 but it's closed. A shame, I'm keen to try it :(

I can only suggest you don't go too far out of your way I'm afraid.

We went here as a last minute dinner choice because it was within walking distance of my hotel, and I'm so glad that I did! The one man working helped us with the menu and pointed out which things could be made vegan. We got the patatas bravas, nachos with guacamole, and fried vegetables. Everything was amazing; the patatas bravas were the best vegan ones I'd had in Spain. I would highly recommend this place!

After my low rating (the joint was closed while Happy Cow and Facebook said it should be open - had a long walk there to end up on closed doors), Gandhi Veggie asks to come back when they are open and we did.

We hat a really nice evening and tried pretty much everything from the menu. Most of the dishes are vegen, the ones with cheese, you can have with vegan cheese. I had the vegan quesadilla and it was good.

It's Mexican fastfood and the location is not fancy. But you get great down-to-earth food at low prices. The staff is very friendly, explained everything and showed alternatives for the things that were sold out.

Will come back when in Barcelona again!

If theres one place you have to hit when your in Barcelona, go here, no doubt! Real food for real prices (i.e. not tourist prices!)

The food here is on a par with the vegan joints in New York; incredible homemade seitan and a real chef who knows his food.

Try the seitan tacos/burger/burrito. And even the desserts were a surprising delight (thats coming from a very particular sweet tooth!)

Wide selection. Good ambiance. Like a homey cafe, good music & fun videos.

Awesome lentil chickpea based veggie burger. Yum homemade hummus. Just sweet enough watermelon agua.
