Dirty Place

The place looks quite nice but the cutlery, straws and glasses were dirty. The food was cold but okay. You also won’t be told any prices in the beginning and after eating you’ll get a really big bill. Traumatic experience, really bad:(
Later edit: my boyfriend got food poisoning:)

Lovely place

We went there after visiting the Polonnaruwa ruins, as we told our driver we needed some vegan food for lunch. The place is definitely hidden and there was some work going on on the other side of the road at the field. But that didn’t bother us and the restaurant was pretty quiet.

They offered a big buffet full of vegan options, and the owners/staff were really lovely people. The only non-vegan dish was chicken, and the owner later brought some local fish, that we declined. We paid 6.200 LKR for three people and two juices, so it’s definitely not cheap but with the amount of food and the options definitely worth it.

Awesome!

This small, open-air, family owned restaurant was located in a rural neighborhood, at the end of a narrow dirt road, right next to a rice paddy. According to the staff, the rice and most of the vegetables were home-grown and organic, with all others ingredients purchased locally. Food is served on lotus leaves so waste is minimal. When I went, there were about 20 items in the buffet and only 1 contained meat. I went to similar buffets during my stay in Sri Lanka, but I thought this 1 was the best. Wish I had time for another meal here!
Note: I think it is cash-only.
