Yummy, Fun, and Unique - Edit
I loved this place I got the raw rainbow wrap I believe it was called and it was sooo satisfying and delicious I paired it with the mac and cheese cause I wasn't sure it would be enough but it definitely did I could only eat a couple bites of the mac and cheese before I was stuffed I also took home one of the specials the "chickwich" and if it tastes half as good as it smells I'll be in heaven!

Apparently, they've been evicted from their building. With all the drama having been created, I don't see them re-opening anytime soon.

When I saw my food(pictured) in gallery. I literally said WTF. How in the world did I wait 30 minutes for a sandwich a 3rd grader could have made? Cold, and dry. Wasn't even toasted. Never again

Delicioso - Edit
The food was delicious and the selection was awesome! My husband and I split the nachos and then he got the "chicken" chalupa, which he said was really good, and I got the tapenade sandwich... yum! The service was a little slow, but in their defense, we came in half an hour before they closed (I know, our bad).

FuD - Edit
Great service and great atmosphere. I ordered the mac and treez which was mac and cheese with broccoli I would recommend this, best mac and cheese I have had since going vegan. My mom ordered the tostada and said it was great! For desert we got the chocolate chip brownie with ice cream. I just say it was delicious...definitely get one...

Delicious! - Edit
This restaurant is adorable and welcoming. I was happy to find they offered gluten-free options as well. The mushroom mac and cheese was delicious and I never would have known it was gluten-free. The cheese was superb and the portion was perfect.

THE Place for Vegan Food in KCMO - Edit
I was in Kansas City for a family reunion. I was told there would be vegan options. There were none. It's ok. FuD came to the rescue. The menu is pretty freggin extensive, so much so, I missed the entire back page!
Read moreTATER MOONS
Little, light fried, moon-shaped potatoes served with what they call Thrilla & Chilla sauces. The "thriller" is supposed to be a spicy, jalapeño sauce, and if I recall correctly, the "chilla" was supposed to be like a queso-type sauce? I don't recall because I didn't receive any of the chilla sauce. The thrilla sauce was very good, but it was not spicy. The taters were good though, and for the amount that they give you, I felt it was worth the $4.
JALAPEÑO FRITTERS
5 or 6 fried balls of yum. They looked like large hush puppies. I felt that they could've used a little more flavor, more jalapeños, and they were a tad bit too doughy. They were ok, but not worth $7, IMO.
TAQUITO TRIO
Everyone loves tacos. Taquitos are like little taco babies rolled up in warm tortilla blankets and sung to sleep by a deep fryer. What's not to love?! FuD does taquitos right, and I was extra happy that they allowed me to sub the mushroom for an extra chkn taquito. Delicious and worth the $8.
PHISHWICH
A large fried "fish" sandwich made from jackfruit. Very good, but be advised that whatever they use to give this vegan seawich its fishy flavor, it has a strong and overpowering flavor. Bring tic tacs. $9.
JACK BBQ
Deliciously succulent BBQ flavored jackfruit pressed between grilled sourdough bread. It is SO good! You can order as a 1/2 size for $5, or whole for $9; either price is worth it!
DESSERT - CASHEW MILK SOFT SERVE w/ CARAMEL SAUCE
Another OMG moment at FuD. Delicious vegan soft service and an amazing vegan caramel sauce. $7.50 for a large cup with a topping. SO worth it!
There were only a few things that I did not like: 1 - I was charged over $6 (15%) in carry out charges without being informed. I didn't know about it until I looked at my receipt. 2 - One employee (black dress) was less than friendly. 3 - When I arrived, there was only like one other couple there. When we left, it was full and most of the tables had their food before I received my carry out order.
In all, the food was great and I would definitely return again to try the back side of the menu, which appeared to be Mexican-inspired cuisine.

very cool - Edit
This is a small but cool little spot with a variety of options on the menu. I had the breakfast Mac and the the sweet stack for dessert with an iced green tea (eyes were FAR larger than my stomach). Both were absolutely delicious! I wish I were in town longer because I'd really like to go back and sample some more items on the menu.

So many choices on the menu! - Edit
The BBQ jackfruit sandwich was quite tasty, but I prefer jackfruit that is a little more shredded or "pulled". This sandwich had too many jackfruit chunks for my liking. The indulgent greasy, crispy, fresh bread was incredible.
Read moreThe nachos appetizer was super good...I definitely recommend.
The options on the menu confused me a little bit because descriptions aren't offered for many non-obvious items. Server was happy to help with explanations of the items in question.
If in Kansas City again, I will definitely return. FuD is a Kansas City vegan gem!

Best food ever, vegan or not! - Edit
So I finally visited this restaurant, and I would have to say, it's pretty much the best food ever. I took multiple non-vegans there and they were SO impressed. Their jackfruit Ruben is to die for, my non-vegan mother says it's the best Ruben she's ever had. Period. This place is my favorite. ❤️️

A favorite, and ALL VEGAN - Edit
When I first tried this spot in 2009, it was good but too salty and a little over-priced. It was also cash only. The little side salad with my sandwich was awesome and full of little unexpected treats -- flavorful greens, nuts and seeds, dried fruit.
Read moreNow it's one of my favorites. The Sunday brunch menu is one of the most exciting bits of reading in town. Their savory options like biscuits n gravy, chilaquiles, and various hashes are gorgeous, well-spiced, and just different enough from what's available elsewhere in town to be a treat, but clear one-ups on american traditions to be pure comfort food. Their sweet options like the pancakes (sweet stack has blueberries, strawberries, bananas, and chocolate chips inside, and is topped with chocolate sauce, and the butteriest vegan butter) hit every note perfectly.
Desserts, shakes, juices, and tonics are worth visits in themselves. Kombucha with sulphur salt? Mint chip shake? Beet/pineapple/kale/ginger juice? Seriously, any craving, healthy or fat.
I returned for lunch recently and was just as impressed with the perfect flavor and spice balances as I've been with brunch. The too-salty sandwich of yore deserves to be forgotten. Everything I've tried at this place in the last seven years has been BOMB.
Pros: All vegan and organic, Eco-friendly practices, Indulgent sweet and savory options
Cons: Tiny, no reservations, The ice cream machine has been broken!

Longtime favorite - Edit
Brunch is now on Sunday's only, which is sad, because I'm rarely available on Sunday's. I've never had anything I disliked here, it's always a favorite. It is not a place to go if you're in a hurry, though - they get away with this only because their food is so amazingly delicious.

Grand finale of three great Kansas City veg restaurants! - Edit
I recently spent three days in Kansas City - my first ever - with two local resident longtime friends who are perhaps best described as flexitarians. They made a point to research local veg restaurants in anticipation of my visit - and FuD was the grand finale of three they picked for our meals out. The menu was extensive and very creative - offering approximately ten options each under the headings Appetizers, Salads, Raw Living, Cold Sandwiches, Hot Sandwiches, Stove Top, Saute, Latin, and Sides. Everything was organic, with gluten-free options available. I was in the mood for something light, so I ordered the apple kale salad - super fresh, with a simple but thoughtful combination of ingredients and delicious dressing. My omnivore friends were very happy with their sandwich choices as well. Prices were very reasonable; decor and staff were both great fun.

they knocked it out of the ball park! - Edit
We hardly give a five rating for anything but this one was much deserved. We ordered the sweet chip pickles, tempeh nuggets, apple kale salad, mac & trees, jack bbq, phishwich & ended with the snicker doodle stacker sundae! All incredibly tasting and our two little girls loved it all (sans the jack bbq which was a little too much flavor for them). And the "small space" comments I read is not that small at all. Cozy. Perfect for us. And the decor is super thoughtful and spot on.
Read moreMaybe the kitchen convo could have been a bit quieter as we sat at the table closest to the open kitchen and counter and even with loud music, the back of the house convo was a little distracting. Although I enjoyed some solo vocal acts at times. And of course I appreciated the comradely vibe going on between the front and the back of the house (staff...I )just wouldn't have minded that it would have been a little less. Just my tiny preference. So that said maybe a 4.5 stars.

First off, cash only... and SLOW service. It's worth the wait if you're in the mood for it. Not a fan of the jackfruit, which I seem to be in the minority. Their nachos, tofu nuggets, and sandwiches are fantastic.

Ecclectic! - Edit
We were driving from Colorado back home to Illinois so after searching Happy Cow for dining options, decided to make the stop at FuD, and was not disappointed. The menu is extensive to say the least! GPS took us right to it. Was surprising it was was so small, but then again, ecclectic is the appropriate word. The food was a decent sized portion, however luckily they had dessert on the menu which we had to try, and was glad we did. We left full and happy.
