A must go. - Edit
This place has a great atmosphere, is clean, affordable/cheap and has delicious food that is beautifully plated. Some dishes are weirdly much more expensive than others; so avoid them to keep the price down. Have the lotus tea that they have on offer and speak to the staff as they speak English very well. Treat them with respect (as you should everyone) and you will be welcomed with open arms. Pictures of everything on the menu and it’s all vegan.

Nice but pricey - Edit
Lots and lots of dishes to choose from. Every dish has a picture and an english name even though it's not 100% clear if dishes are vegetarian or vegan. Try the "meat"balls! For a chinese restaurant its quite expensive but its fancy so i guess its ok

Our Favorite Restaurant in Beijing! - Edit
This restaurant was in the same street as where we stayed. We absolutely love the food! We ate there twice in our stay in Beijing and ordered the hotpot, peking duck and beijing style tofu. Everyone there is very nice and tries their best to help customers even when they can speak very little english. The menu is written in both chinese and english. Try the Lotus Tea it is very nice! The also have a Buddhist centre or museum at the back of the restaurant which we had the chance to see after dinner. They do sell some things there but were never ever pushy at all. Going to that restaurant is not only for a delicious meal but for a great experience as well. Miss their food already!!

Great menu, many options - Edit
I had one free evening to myself in Beijing on my first ever trip to the city and found this place on HappyCow. It was a great find and delicious meal. The menu was extensive with descriptions in both Chinese and English and pictures of almost every item. The staff were friendly and helpful and at least one spoke English.

Perfect after visiting the Forbidden city - Edit
A strange place, half restaurant half boutique. I like it though and it was calm. I had a delicate mushroom stew (small) and a cauliflower sauté, quite spicy and oily but delicious. Sticky rice and tea, all for 99 yuan. This was a full big and satisfying meal.

Nice food but oily - Edit
We enjoyed the food here but as other reviews have said it was oily, and more expensive than other places in Beijing. However it was a great location right near the Forbidden City and Wangfujing shopping area. At the end of our meal we were asked f we wanted to go on a tour of the Buddhist museum downstairs. It is really more of a shop with some private dining rooms. Not really worth it, but the man giving us the tour was lovely.

Oily and bland - Edit
The restaurant is on a side street in downtown Beijing in a very expensive area of the already expensive city. I suppose the moderately priced (for the area) dishes fell flat because of my expectations?
Read moreFor starters, the inside of the building is quite expansive and upon entry what struck me were the small shops in the front and back of the restaurant attempting to sell Buddhist trinkets. I don't mind gift shops attached to restaurants, but these were essentially in the dining room. I'm going to a restaurant to eat, not shop. At the close of the meal, the waiter even told us to browse while he got our change.
The food was incredibly oily and the flavor was lacking in many of the dishes. We got noodles, toon pancakes, Peking "duck," and asparagus with walnuts. The noodle dish was the best despite being drowned in oil. I live in Chengdu, so I'm used to oily food, but the oil in these dishes did absolutely nothing to enhance the existing flavor in the food. The Peking "duck" dish was also dripping oil. I realize it is fried, but there was more oil than mushroom filling. The accompanying pancakes, plum sauce, and cucumbers were great, though. You could make a meal out of just those.
Honestly, there are better vegan restaurants just a subway ride away from this spot and I simply cannot recommend it. If you are in a pinch, it's something to eat, but I wouldn't go out if my way to visit this spot while in Beijing.
Pros: Location
Cons: Oily, Bland, Expensive for what you get.

Great Vegan Options - Edit
This is a great option if you're vegan and visiting the Forbidden City. My husband and I went there at a really weird time of day and they were still happy to make us a meal. I loved the five spice tofu and the Chinese toon pancake.

I visited and sampled this restaurant with a meat eating Chinese friend of mine, who loved it-as did I.
Read moreThe food is tasty, well prepared, in a quiet and warm environment. My friend commented on just how quiet and peaceful the restaurant was.
Price—not street food prices, but certainly value for money. Say $20 for a full meal.
My only complaint was the fake meat, which I do not like. It is just too real. Recommended.
It too a search to find this place. The map location is wrong. Coords: 39 45.9 116 24.104

Great food but a little a pricey - Edit
Really nice restaurant with great food and a lovely atmosphere. We had some chicken substitute with bamboo in a brown sauce and "duck" wraps which were both really tasty. However, altogether (4 dishes and a small bowl of rice) it cost us 187元 which is quite expensive for China.

nice find. lots of choice - Edit
Great find - the menu had lots of choices including meat-replacement style options. The 'Duck' pancakes were a great choice for example (mushroom & fried bean curd). Staff spoke some English and the menu was also in English. We were invited to see the Buddhist rooms downstairs and whilst interesting, it was also a 'soft sell' for various goods/objects.

Really nice place - Edit
A very nice and quite place, with delicious vegetarian food. As it's Chinese cuisine, dishes were lightly spiced, and the ones we tried weren't greasy at all. Three dishes cost us RMB140.Also they have a souvenir shop and a temple downstairs, which you can visit and maybe buy some of handmade / natural stuff they have.

Food was OK but we've had better in Beijing. We tried four different dishes that were either too oily or tasted plain. Plus, it was very cold inside, not comfortable.

A real find! - Edit
We were wandering in the area east of the Forbidden City, and saw a sign (in English!) "vegetarian restaurant 50 meters". We were so surprised and pleased, and just starting to think about a meal. Inside is a large, calm oasis, with high ceilings and dark furniture.
Read moreThe menu has photos and we ordered 4 dishes. They asked us how spicy we wanted the food. All the dishes were delicious. We especially enjoyed the fern root noodles - a delicate seasoning that we had not experienced before.

Very nice location with an extensive menu (mock meats, vegetarian fish, veggies, tofu, soups, dumplings, spring rolls, steamed buns, desserts and teas and more).
Read moreWe (3 girls) ordered 3x stir fried rice noodles, steamed buns, meat balls, pumpkin soup (my favorite), spring rolls and a tofu dish. All in all it was 183 CNY so ca. 8€ for each of us. The dishes were delicious and the meatballs tasted so much like meat that I couldn't finish them! Definitely recommended if you bring your non-veg family/friends.
The vegetables in the tofu dish were very fresh and yummy.
The staff was very nice.
There's an English menu.
We will come back soon (to get more pumpkin soup!!)
Pros: cheap, very friendly , super delicious, very nice interior

good option near forbidden city - Edit
The directions to this restaurant in the description were very helpful and right on. Staff were super friendly and we were served by a woman who spoke English while other staff did not. The menu had pictures. The food was good, but not anything amazing in what we had- dumplings, eggplant dish and cold sausage. A good option near the forbidden city.

Sit upstairs! - Edit
Fuhuiciyuan has an extensive veg menu and a nice wait staff. The restaurant is fairly easy to find—it's just off Wangfujing in a quiet hutong. Sit upstairs in the tea parlor area; you must order tea there, but they have some specialty types that are nice, and you can still order off the full menu but with better ambience. I wouldn't say their food is the best in the city, but it certainly won't disappoint and it's worth a visit 4sure.

Some of the better food I've had in Beijing - Edit
Hidden just off the beaten track, Fu Hui Ci Yuan is a peaceful and delicious oasis for vegetarians in central Beijing. If you are tired of the bland, glistening and highly meaty offerings of the traditional local cuisine, this place offers a great selection of flavourful, spicy dishes ranging from pure vegetables to tasty vegetarian meats. The spicy vegetarian sausage and vegetable pot was the winner for me. Delicious teas also. Just be warned, the pin on the map is in the wrong spot. Follow the walking directions in the description and you'll be fine.

Great restaurant near Wangfujing - Edit
This was our favourite restaurant in Beijing (we visited Beijing in September 2014). The food is really great and the prices are reasonable.
Read moreThe menu contains lots of different dishes and it has pictures for each dish.
The location is very central (near Wangfujing) and with the HappyCow map and description it is easy to find: Find the shopping mall with the Apple store at the front, walk west through the night market and turn right at the end of the street. Then right again and you see the restaurant at the right side of the street after walking a few meters.
Tip: Order the Beijing "Duck" for 68 RMB (2 persons).
Pros: Good food, Reasonable prices, Easy to find; central
