Temporarily closed - Edit
Per their website and voice message they are currently closed. We hope they will re-open as we always enjoyed all their many and varied vegan options.

Vegan nachos - Edit
The vegan nachos are so good, don’t recommend getting them to go, but eating in they are amazing!

Disappointing - Edit
We ordered the vegan nachos, quinoa bowl, and mushroom melt. The cashew cheese on the nachos was flavorless, as was the quinoa bowl generally--no discernible dressing or sauce. The mushroom melt had a strange mildewy taste, a bit like when shiitake start to go bad.

Not bad - Edit
We live in Brunswick and visit Frontier from time to time. They used to have far more vegan options on the menu but the variety has sadly decreased over time. The food is generally good and if you tell them you’re vegan they are great about making sure your food is prepared correctly. The sushi rice bowl and vegan nachos are our favorite. The nachos are not good as take out as another reviewer indicated (that person took issue with the cheese sauce—they make it there from cashews, so it’s not commercial as she described). The chocolate mousse prepare with coconut milk is really yummy too!

Frontier Cafe - Edit
This was an amazing little find on our trip to Maine! The building was an old gorgeous renovated Mill. I loved the atmosphere and vibe of the place, especially that they house art shows, music and movie viewing here. The vegan meal I had was delicious and served in a timely manner. It was easy to see on the menu what was vegan. The chocolate vegan mousse was delicious and a perfect ending to the meal. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Disappointing - Edit
This place was seriously disappointing. I had been really craving vegan nachos so I decided to make the commute here to try the nachos. First, it was hard to find. Its kind of hidden but I was able to call and have them help me find it. The parking is decent. The building looks small on the outside but its pretty big inside and has a really nice casual vibe. I ordered vegan nachos to go and ended up waiting 45 minutes at the bar. What I left with was some nacho chips, unwashed and unsalted black beans in a container, corn mix, and cold nacho cheeze in a container. So disappointing especially for the price of $16. The chips were good but for someone that was craving nachos this was seriously disappointing. The cheeze was again cold, and looked like it may have been unfrozen in the microwave by the taste and apperance. If you've ever bought the nacho cheeze from The Ark in Auburn I suspect this is what they use as it tastes identical. I wont be returning. So sad to because this place had soooo much potential.

Solid Atmosphere and Plenty of Vegan Options - Edit
Frontier Cafe is a restaurant and movie theater with a well-labeled menu. I had the vegan nachos. Abagail had the sushi bowl. Both were tasty. We also had the vegan chocolate pudding dessert, which hit the spot. There were also some other vegan options, which was nice to see. The only downside to Frontier was the bad service–a waiter didn't check in for 30 minutes after we were seated and then placed the blame on us. You may have better luck.

really cool place! - Edit
The Frontier Cafe is a great place to go to have a group or family meal, especially if everyone has different dietary requirements. They have lots of gluten free items- even some fried items are gluten free. They have tons of vegetarian options, and I counted 6 vegan meal options. I have had the middle eastern market plate...it has a huge portion of food...great to share with another person!
