They have a buffet where you pay for the plate and then take as much as you want. The fold was really good and the staff very helpful. I can really recommend a visit.

The exterior says "vegetarian restaurant and cafe", however, their menu said vegan on every dish!
Uh, and I noticed the HappyCow sticker on their door!
First off, we were greeted in a very warm and welcoming way.
We were offered to see the menu in pictures, and had the options described to us.
A great start!
I went for the (weekend menu dish) Ethiopian Mix, 169 sek.
Alicha (cabbage, carrot, potato, haricots). Spinach, Lentils.
Zigni (Soy mince, potatoes). Served with injera bread.
My company went for Foul, 120 sek, with fava beans and falafel.
Turned out they were out of that dish, so we went with their Oumph burger instead, no extra charge.
Oumph (soy) meat, vegan cheese, BBQ sauce, onion, cucumber, tomato.
Served with potato wedges, mayo and ketchup.
Soup made of lentils, carrots and ginger included. And lemon sliced water.
The Ethiopian dish was tasty and filling, nicely spiced and felt fresh made by hand.
I was also offered additional injera bread, which was tangy with a delicate, spongy texture.
The burger was really good too, I personally love soy meat (and Oumph in particular), it was perfectly marinated in barbecue sauce, with nice toppings and crispy potato wedges.
The prices are humane and worth every penny. They also offered us student/senior discount, which is greatly appreciated of course.
Seatings indoors and outdoors, facing the street.
I loved this visit, both how kindly we were treated and how tasty the food was.
We'll definitely be back next time in beautiful Uppsala!

The vegan oasis in Uppsala - Edit
I was lucky to dine at Fröjas Sal a few times. It let me experience vegan Ethiopian cuisine, which I'm grateful for. I tried a few dishes and still can't decide which was the best. The people working at the place were kind and welcoming. Uppsala deserves more vegan places, and especially more places like this.

A Daily Highlight in Uppsala - Edit
Even if you’re only in Uppsala for a short visit, this place is always the highlight of my day! The service is incredibly warm and friendly, the vegan menu is both delicious and wonderfully varied, and the cozy atmosphere makes every meal feel extra special. I wouldn’t want to eat anywhere else in Uppsala! 🧡

I had an amazing lunch at Fröjas Sal. Me and my mom got the Ethiopian plate and stew and I posted the pictures with the names. They were really flavoursome and tasty 😋 The lunch came with coffee, salad, and lentil soup as well. Only thing is the salad was pretty soggy but I think they put out some fresh salad later when I was still there.

Don't be deluded by the somewhat unpretentious exterior: inside you will find great food, very kind and helpful people and nice interiors. I had the Biryani with veggie meatballs, it was delicious and filling. Staff was ready to help and very friendly. Also, the food is inexpensive. Eat here!

Bought an Ethiopian mix plate to go and it was wonderful. All the dishes were really tasty, the injera was light and fluffy. All the different dishes were packed in neat compartments so they all could be enjoyed on their own or mixed together. Very pleases with my choice of lunch.

Great value for money! Tasty dishes which include soup, salad, coffee or tea. Plenty of options to choose from. I had the Ethiopian mix platter which was excellent. Small selection of cakes.

Best Employees ever. A very warm welcome here, they make you feel like a special guest. The etiopian dishes we had where exellent, and bigger as I expected, I was more than full in the end. Mostly everthing is vegan.
