I’ve visited Fret in 's-Hertogenbosch (Den Bosch) several times for hearty dinners and recently popped by for breakfast too, it’s the go to for vegans in the city. The location is fantastic, just a short walk from the train station, and I loved the few outdoor seats. Inside, however, it can get quite crowded and noisy, so if you’re looking for a quiet, intimate chat, this might not be the ideal setting.
Read moreThe food is undeniably delicious, though I found the portions a bit on the smaller side for the price point. My main critique is that the menu feels slightly limited in fresh fruits and vegetables. Therefore I would definitely recommend ordering the salad.
For instance, their french toast is absolutely tast, but it leans heavily into indulgence with only battered brioche and whipped cream, lacking any fresh berries or fruit to cut through the richness. That said, the flavor profile was spot-on, and a touch of green herbs added just enough freshness to save the palate!
One disappointment? No smoothie or fresh fruit options for breakfas. However, the fresh juice they did serve was easily the most Instagram-worthy version I’ve ever had.
Overall, despite wishing for more fresh produce-forward dishes and larger servings, Fret remains one of the best vegan dining experiences in Den Bosch. Highly recommended for a treat!

Heerlijk gegeten (kapsalon, Chinese pancakes, bitterballen, salade) en het personeel was ontzettend vriendelijk. Mijn peuter en onze hond hadden het ook naar hun zin. We komen zeker terug als we in de buurt zijn 💜

het eten was goed, ik raad de fret burger erg aan! de kimchi kapsalon was het helaas niet voor mij. het is wel erg aan de prijs, maar de kwaliteit is goed. wel was de tent te upperclass voor mijn begrippen waardoor ik mij niet helemaal op mijn gemak voelde. de tafels staan erg dicht op elkaar en de barkrukken zijn oncomfortabel. je kan beter op de bank gaan zitten.

Went here for brunch/lunch. Food was delicious though and service was super friendly.
Read moreIf they just fix the seating it would be 5 stars. Low tables are so close together that you couldn't even fit between them properly to take a seat. We chose a higher table to have a bit more space but had to sit on stools without a backrest.

We went here for diner. The food was good, but not extraordinary. It appeared that the dishes were quite small so that you could share multiple dishes with each other, but since the dishes were 13 euros on average (between 10 and 16 euros I think), we found this really expensive. We also paid 7,50 euros for a bottle of water.

Delicious food! We tried a ‘surprise menu’ and were indeed pleasantly surprised. Very friendly staff. Location not hard to find. The tables however are really a tad too small to dine comfortably and the space between tables is so limited that you are part of the conversation of the people next to you. The food however is highly recommended.

Quite sophisticated food for a small café - Edit
I tried soup of the day (celery and fennel puree with radish sprouts), katsu sando (sandwich with breaded tofu and “egg” salad) and matcha cappuccino. All of it was excellent. The portions were not very big but I found them appropriate for the price. The staff was very forthcoming and attentive. Lovely outdoor seating area in a small square. I’d definitely come again. Just didn’t like that they don’t advertise as vegan or plant-based. Probs a lot of accidental guests didn’t even realize.

It was really nice to eat at Fret when spending the day in Den Bosch! It was a very cozy place with a great atmosphere. The food was also really tasty, however the portions were not too filling and a bit dry which made the price a bit on the expensive side.

This was a really good place in Den Bosch. The lunch menu has varied choices and it was really nice to see several mocktails and alcohol-free options listed among the drinks. Tehy also have a separate dinner menu that looks good, too!
