My go to - Edit
As a local, freshie mex is our go to for causal mexican food. Big range of vegan meals and huge range of cocktails/margaritas. Restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating. Can book online.

So good - Edit
Firstly I was impressed by the extensive vegan-specific menu, clearly highlighted and smack bang in the middle of the regular menu. Secondly, we enjoyed the Mexican inspired house made sodas as an alcohol-free alternative to what look like an amazing cocktail list. Thirdly, the food was absolutely delicious. The enchiladas were so cheesy. Yum.

Best vegan food in the Northern Beaches - Edit
Amazing burritos, nachos and churros. Make sure you clarify the vegan option since I’ve had a mix up when I said ‘jackfruit burrito’ they have a vegetarian cheese option. Same with the churros - there’s a chocolate dip that isn’t vegan.

A Succulent Mexican Meal - Edit
Would have rated Freshie Mex 5 stars if it were fully Vegan. This place was great; lovely staff, fun energy and the food was so delicious. I love that they’d created their own cashew cream to replace sour cream. Touches like that just show that they’ve made an effort to create a great tasting Vegan menu. We had a couple of tacos, enchiladas and nachos, and every dish was delicious and plentiful. We left feeling very content and we’d absolutely go back again. Gets busy so defo book ahead!

Delicious Surprise - Edit
We had a great swim at Freshwater Beach and then headed to town to have lunch. I was not feeling very hopeful of a good vegan meal as the places we passed did not offer much aside from a basic salad, or the perennial vegetarian option 'hot chips'. Then we saw Freshie Mex had a whole vegan section on their menu, including vegan cheese, cashew sour cream, plant-based prawns, plant-based beef and more. I had the vegan prawn taco, and a vegan nachos with beans, vegan cheese and cashew sour cream which was so delicious. Super surprised and very happy :)
Read morePros: plant-based protein outside of tofu , both vegan sour cream and vegan cheese, they also had $10 margaritas
Cons: could only have rated higher if it was fully vegan

Locally sourced, super fresh and nutritious Mexican - Edit
I tried lots of different vegan Mexican dishes at Freshie Mex. I was very impressed that instead of omitting the sour cream they instead have cashew sour cream and it was very tasty, to see all the dishes that I tried head to the blog post https://cookingwithyoshiko.com/vegan-mexican-at-freshie-mex-freshwater/
