Ganz ok - Edit
Beides leider etwas trocken.

Disappointing - Edit
Food was very bland- we ordered the risotto and the pumpkin tagliatelle. Little flavour and very boring. Ordered the dumplings for starter which was slightly better but still nothing special

Would come back for lunch - Edit
I've been there for lunch but I was a bit early (the kitchen opens at 12:30 pm) so I decided to take a vegan carrot cake. The other vegan options were limited at that time. But the cake was very good and cheap, and the staff was very friendly. The place is also very pleasant and the fact that food is organic is a big plus. I would definitely come back to eat for lunch or dinner.

Good! - Edit
We enjoyed our meal in the nice atmosphere of this place. There were some vegan options but we ordered the vegan burger. It was tasty but we had the feeling that it missed something. The desserts were excellent, though.

Simply marvellous! - Edit
During my holiday in Palermo I had lunch at Freschette almost every day because it is just soooooo good!
Read moreThe dishes have the taste of natural home made fresh food that it makes you feel so good while eating and later on.
I particularly liked the fact the there are two areas for indoor eating and two for outdoor (the outdoor at the back is under a splendid giant Magnolia tree).
I also had the pleasure to meet the owner/chef and I can guarantee that the food is not only healthy and tasty but also prepared with a lot of love and devotion.
Thank you
Pros: Very central, Great food , Choice of seating (indoor/outdoor)

Thoroughly recommended - Edit
There is a spot in a back street between the two main strips of Via Maqueda and Via Roma that is obviously one of the 'in' places to be in Palermo. Huddles of punk and alternative-looking teenagers hang around smoking and drinking, while their older peers enjoy themselves in a rock n roll bar. Somewhat incongruously (in look but perhaps not spirit) is Freschette BioBistrot. If you're a visitor from northern Europe may need to adjust to the much later southern opening hours, but your stomach will thank you for the extra wait. The humus and bread starter was a complete revelation, and unlike any humus and bread combo you will have had before. I never wanted it to end. The vegetable risotto main was great too but difficult to give it a fair assessment coming so soon after the esculent eden of the starter. Staff and decor made also for a top notch ambience to dine in, and the price was reasonable.

a real pleasure - Edit
We ate here several times and were very satisfied. The food was good, the staff very friendly, and the atmosphere was pleasant. They had a varied menu and I was able to get plates with little or no oil and salt.

I was really disappointed. I got a soup and some parts were powdery as if it was one of those supermarket soups you dilute in water...

Unmissable in Palermo - Edit
We ate there twice in four days, and we couldn't do the third time because they close on Monday. The food was good and healthy and the staff was so friendly. The menu changes every day, they offer vegan and vegetarian options and the prices are very good. It was a great discover, I just can recommend you it If you are in Palermo.

Disappointing - Edit
The food is way too simple and quite blank. We shared an antipasti plate as a starter but it was just store bought food : dried tomatoes, olives and vegan salami
Read moreThen I had fried rice and vegetables. It was good but nothing fancy about it. The true disapointment was my boyfriend's vegan burger : just a burger and fries, no bread, no dressing ...
It is always great to find a vegan place when you travel but honestly I prefered to eat caponata and panelle in a traditional trattoria during my stay in Palermo
Pros: Vegan options
Cons: Not very tasty

Delicious! - Edit
This was such a great surprise in Palermo! I well needed reprieve! Her menu is fantastic and very different with vEgan options. It has a small outside area where I enjoyed a black rice dish. Lots of juice options and vegan gelato! Even if your are not a veggie the food will be appreciated!

vegan options - Edit
The staff spoke English and explained to me what was on the menu and what was vegan, about half the menu was vegan, food was ok! vegan gelato was nice. The restaurant has lots of seating inside and out. For dinner, gelato and drink came to 20 euros for one person.

Nice little veggie place - Edit
Handy little veggie place tucked away behind the big fascist era post office on Via Roma. Has a small menu with a couple of vegan options or they can make other items vegan too. Lunch is self service (order at the kitchen and pay at bar) and about 4-5 euros for a main course and dinner is table service and a bit more expensive 8-9 e for a main. Staff are friendly, don't speak huge amounts of English - the chef seems to though. Food is fairly simple pastas, risottos etc but their home made bread is nice and they have vegan cake too.

Simple and healthy organic food - Edit
We ate at Freschette several time during our stay in Palermo last December. The restaurant is very small (can sit around 25) and unpretentious, but still has a nice modern/indie decor. The place is frequented by locals and the staff doesn't speak English very well. In fact, the staff and the other customers even seemed surprised to see tourists in the establishment. Nonetheless, everyone was nice and we were able to convey that we were vegans. They told us what the vegans options were and offered to adapt their recipes for us if we wanted to try some of the non-vegan options on the menu, which I think changes weekly. The chef was very nice and seemed genuinely happy to serve vegan customers.
Read moreThe food itself was good, simple, healthy and inexpensive. A meal with a fresh juice was about 10 euros, which is really a bargain for a restaurant in Palermo. Don't expect anything fancy or exceptional, but if you're homesick and craving for a simple healthy and comforting meal, Freschette is the right place to go.
